work.
It is advisable that the operator wears close fitting clothing to avoid the risk of snagging
and trapping.
Ensure that you watch out for wandering individuals (particularly children!).
Always match your speed to the conditions and speed limits imposed.
Remember to take into account the size of any attachments to the forklift/loader you may
have and be aware of the sideways forces acting on the machine when turning and
negotiating corners. Always ensure adequate all round visibility.
Special Safety Instructions

5
Take extra care when attaching and detaching the ABC bag cutter to/from the
forklift/loader. Be aware of your surroundings and watch out for wandering individuals.
Ensure that the forklift/loaders hydraulic system is in full working order before starting work.
Never allow any person to stand between the forklift/loader and the ABC during
connection or at any time unless the forklift/loader is secured against rolling away by use
of a parking brake and/or wheel chocks and the engine is turned off.
It is prohibited to allow any persons to ride or sit on the ABC bag cuter at any time.
Observers should maintain a safe distance when machine is in use.
When performing any adjustments to the bag lift the forklift/loader engine must be
switched off to prevent the hydraulics from operating.
Safety First
Everyone is responsible for Health and Safety! Please operate your forklift or loader with
this implement attached in a sensible and safe manner. Be aware of the safety of others
at all times.
Operation
1. Ensure that the ABC is attached to the forklift/loader correctly and any locking
pins are located securely prior to starting work.
2. Ensure that the forklift/loaders hydraulic system is in full working order prior to use.
3. CAUTION, NEW EQUIPMENT! Allow users time on first use to get used to the
forklift/loader with the implement attached before performing the first job.
4. Manoeuver around at a very slow pace and ensure that there are no spectators
within close proximity or overhead obstructions.
5. SAFETY FIRST: We are all responsible for Health and Safety so please use this
implement responsibly. Please follow the operation instructions below.
General Operation Procedure
1. Once connected to the forklift/loader correctly the bag lift arms and bag ‘stop’
are adjusted according to the size of bag being handled, you are ready to use
the ABC for the first time. The bag ‘stop’ has variable horizontal settings, adjustable
via a pin system, for aligning the bags with the cutters for central piercing action.
Please alter the ABC arm and stop settings BEFORE OPERATION.
The following step by step instructions will help to guide you through the process.

6
2. Before you attempt to pick up any bags, ensure the ABC bag lift arms are in their
lowest position on the loader hydraulics with the bag cutters in the folded back
position.
3. Carefully locate the bag via the bag loops on to the ABC arms. Ensure the bag
loops are located fully up to the “stop” located on top of the lift arms.
4. Raise the bags off the floor or trailer using the forklift’s boom, tilting the headstock
back slightly to keep the full bag resting against the support cradle. The bag
position is very important to ensure correct ‘cutting’ when ready.
5. Drive to the spreader, drill or other location with the lift arms closed down and NOT
raised at this point. Adjust the height of the implement on the forklift boom to
ensure maximum visibility when performing any manoeuvres. Watch out for
overhead cables and other obstructions such as doorways/overhead cables.
6. When at the desired location, YOU MUST DOUBLE CHECK ABOVE FOR ANY
OVERHEAD CABLES OR OBSTRUCTIONS and move to a safer location if required.
When it is deemed safe to proceed, start the hydraulic oil flow and lift the ABC
arms fully up using the hydraulics on the loader. When raised, the cutters will
automatically swing forward into the cutting position.
7. Lower the bag lift arms and bags using the loader hydraulics downwards on to the
cutters. There is no need to bury the cutter right up in to the bag. When the bag
is pierced sufficiently for the product to flow quickly, lift the bag/s up off the cutters
using the hydraulics on the loader and let the bag fully empty.
8. If loaded with more than 1 bag, when the first bag is empty, you will need to tilt
fully back again so that the second bag slides down to the “stop” as you did for
the first bag and repeat the operation.
9. When you have emptied the bag/s, keeping the ABC bag lift arms raised, drive to
a safe location to drop off the empty bags. BEWARE OF ANY OVERHEAD CABLES &
OBSTRUCTIONS whilst manoeuvring around.
10. With the cutters still in their working position, tilt the forklift carriage forwards so that
the bags slide off.
11. After you have dropped off the empty bags, tilt the carriage back to return the
ABC to a normal centred position and lower the bag lift arms down to their
lowest position. The cutters will also retract and the cycle of operation is
complete.
12. Repeat the process as required.
13. STORAGE: For storage of the ABC when not in use, the arms must be lowered to
the minimum position achievable BEFORE the cutters retract. The cutters are
need to remain in the cutting position (forwards) to enable to ABC to stand
upright alone.

7
DANGER: Please ensure you position the ABC bag cutters facing towards a wall
or building side to prevent trip hazard and potential impalement when not in
use. DANGER: The ABC cutter blades are sharp and pointed. Risk of injury is
possible if machine not positioned safely when not in use.
Maintenance
Minimum maintenance required. Please grease all hydraulic cylinders weekly.
Check all hydraulic hoses are free from damage. Check all pins are present and
implement appears safe to use with no missing parts or visible damage prior to each
use.
