This document is the Technical Release Note of the Alcatel-Lucent 8234/8254 DECT software version 40.85

b0009.

This version is made available as a SW on the Enterprise Business Portal in the SW download section. It will also

be loaded at the factory for future productions of 8234/8254 DECT handset hardware (3BN67378AA/

3BN67330AB). SW modifications are detailed in sections “Delivered Features”, “Restrictions” and “Corrections and

Improvements”

3.1 DECT 8254

The Alcatel-Lucent 8254 DECT handset offers an easy-to-use, cost effective and reliable voice communication

solution that addresses the mobility needs of evolving healthcare/industrial business environments.

The characteristics are:

a larger 1.8” display compared to 8232,

a rubber protection,

a compatibility with IP65,

a drop height of 2m on concrete floor,

an easiness for a clean keyboard,

anti-bacterial materials,

New skin,

New settings reorganization,

Menu display change,

Clock in screen saver

The Alcatel-Lucent 8254 DECT Handset provides a convenient and practical solution for the basic personal

mobility needs of most business environments. It offers simple and efficient voice communications, enhanced

usability and compatibility with the existing Alcatel-Lucent base station portfolio. It also offers all of the

Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Communication Server value-added voice services (such as dial-by-name and multi-

line management) available for Alcatel-Lucent corded TDM/IP deskphones. 8254 can be registered as 8232 on

former OCO/OCE and OXE release.

3.2 DECT 8234

The Alcatel-Lucent 8254 DECT handset offers an easy-to-use, cost effective and reliable voice communication

solution that addresses the mobility needs of evolving business environments.

The characteristics of the 8234 are:

o8232: 133 x 52 x 23

Larger 1,8” Display compared to 8232

Strong and efficient belt clip

Drop height: 2m on wooden floor

New skin,

New settings reorganization,

Menu display change,

Clock in screen saver

8234 can be registered as 8232 on former OCO/OCE and OXE release.

3.3 Supported Solutions

The 8234/8254 DECT Handset is introduced on call servers OmniPCX Enterprise and OmniPCX Office. It

provides DECT mobility feature to the following Alcatel-Lucent solutions:

Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Office (OCO/OCE) with following DECT infrastructures:

oTDM base stations (IBS) in AGAP mode

oIP-DECT base stations (4080 DAP, 8340 DAP and 8340C DAP) in GAP mode,

o8378 DECT IP-xBS in AGAP mode,

Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Enterprise (OXE) with following DECT infrastructures in AGAP mode:

oTDM IBS base stations,

oTDM RBS base stations,

oIP-DECT base stations (4080 DAP, 8340 DAP),

o8378 DECT IP-xBS,

oThe new desktop charger has no USB connector. It has a fixed cable for connection to either

the AC/DC adapter for battery charge or PC for SW upgrade.

oNote: there is no modification of the AC/DC adapter which is compatible with the desktop

charger.

oReuse of AC/DC adapter for 82x2 DECT handsets range is possible
