Instructions for Use

Before rst use, remove all packaging from the wafe iron. Wipe the housing and wafe plates with a clean,

damp cloth. The wafe iron has a non stick surface; we suggest seasoning this with cooking spray or a a-

vourless

vegetable oil. You may also nd this helpful before each use of the wafe iron.

ßPlace the closed wafe iron on a clean, at surface where you intend to bake. Plug the power cord into a

suitable mains outlet.

ßTurn the control dial clockwise from the ‘OFF’ position to the desired browning setting 1-6. The red indi-

cator light will illuminate to signal power is on and the wafe iron is preheating.

Wafe Browning Guide

Setting Colour

1-2 Light Brown

3-4 Golden Brown

5-6 Dark Brown

ßWhen the wafe iron reaches the desired temperature the green indicator light will illuminate and an

audible tone will sound. You are ready to begin baking.

N.B. The rst time you use the wafe iron it may have a slight odour and may smoke a little. This is nor-

mal and common to appliances with a non stick surface.

ßLift the lid of the wafe iron by grasping the handle and lifting up. The lid will remain in an upright posi-

tion until lowered manually.

ßPour the batter into the centre of the lower wafe grid. Use a heat-proof plastic or wooden spatula to

spread the batter evenly over the grids. Close the lid, the green light will turn off but the red light will

remain illuminated.

N.B. Never use metal utensils, as they will damage the nonstick coating.

ßBaking time is determined by the browning level that you choose. It may take up to 4 minutes.

ßWhen the wafe is ready, the green light will illuminate and an audible tone will sound. Remove the wafe

by lifting the lid and gently loosening the edges with a heat-proof plastic or wooden spatula.

ßWhen you have nished baking, turn the control dial anticlockwise to the ‘OFF’ setting. The red indicator

light will turn off. Unplug the power cord from the mains and allow the wafe iron to cool down comple-

tely before handling.

Hints and Tips

ßExperiment with setting no. 1-6 to nd which colour wafe most suites your taste.

ßFor evenly lled wafes, pour the batter onto the centre of the lower grid and spread out evenly to the

edges. The entire lower grid should be lled.

ßUse approximately 300ml of batter for 4 wafes.

ßWafes are best served hot, immediately after cooking, but baked wafes, may be kept warm in a low

oven. Do not wrap in foil as they may loose their crispiness.

ßBaked wafes may be frozen. Allow to cool completely, place in plastic food bag. Use baking parchment

to keep the wafes separated and freeze. Reheat in a toaster or toaster oven when ready to eat.

ßFor added avour, serve your wafes with fruit syrups, warmed fruit compote, fresh berries, chopped fruit

or yogurt.

ßFor sweeter wafes serve with a dusting of icing sugar, whipped cream, ice cream or chocolate sauce.

Cleaning & Maintenance

ßAlways unplug the appliance from the mains after use and allow to cool completely before handling or

cleaning. Leave the top open to enable the grids to cool more easily.

ßTo clean, simply brush away crumbs form the grids and absorb any excess cooking oil by wiping with a dry

cloth. Clean the grids by wiping with a damp cloth to avoid staining and sticking from batter or oil build
