5. WORKING PRINCIPLE
5.1. MICRO SWITCHES, SENSORS AND SOLENOID VALVES
MICRO SWITCHES
Function
Logic
M1 = UPPER MICRO SWITCH
Detects when the infuser is on top
position
“NC”, it opens when the infuser is in top
position
M2 = LOWER MICRO SWITCH
Detects when the infuser is on down
position
“NO”, it closes when the infuser is in down
position
M3 = DRAWER MICRO SWITCH
Detects when the drip tray is in
correct position
3-pin micro switch. When the drip tray is
inserted:
- the contact for the drip tray
detection is OPEN;
- the contact for the transmission
motor power supply is CLOSED.
M4 = WATER TANK MICRO
SWITCH
Detects the presence of the water
tank
3-pin micro switch. When the water tank is
inserted:
- the contact for the water tank
detection is OPEN;
- the contact for the transmission
motor power supply is CLOSED.
M5 = IFD MICRO SWITCH
Detects the presence of the milk jug
“NC”, it opens when the accessory is
present
M6 = HOT WATER SPOUT /
CLEAN MICRO SWITCH
Detects the presence of the hot
water spout or starts the CLEAN
function for the milk jug
“NC”, it opens when the hot water spout is
present or when the milk jug knob is in the
CLEAN position

5.2. ESPRESSO COFFEE DELIVERY
Espresso coffee delivery stages:
- EV1 solenoid valve is activated
- Thermoblock is activated
- Grinder is activated for a certain timing (based on the coffee taste selection)
- Infuser moves to the mechanical valve
- Pump is activated for a couple of seconds for pre-infusion
- Pump restarts for coffee delivering
- Pump and thermoblock stop, EV1 closes
- Infuser moves away from the mechanical valve and releases the coffee pod
- Mechanical valve discharges excess water/coffee to the drip tray
- Infuser is moved back to the “Coffee Ready” position

5.3. HOT WATER DELIVERY
Hot water delivery stages:
- EV1 and EV2 are activated
- Thermoblock is activated
- Pump is activated in fast pulsing mode for a certain timing
- Hot water is delivered through the hot water spout connected to the nozzle
- Pump stops, thermoblock, EV1 and EV2 are deactivated

5.4. MILK FROTH PREPARATION
Milk froth delivery stages:
- EV2 is activated
- Steamer is activated
- Pump is activated in slow pulsing mode for a certain timing
- The steam is injected from the nozzle into the milk jug and mixed with the air (according to the milk
froth knob position) to froth the milk
- EV2, steamer and pump are deactivated
Milk jug cleaning stages:
- EV1 and EV2 are activated
- Thermoblock is activated
- Pump is activated in very slow pulsing mode for a certain timing
- Hot water is delivered through the nozzle and air from the milk jug knob in CLEAN position
- EV1, EV2, thermoblock and pump are deactivated

6. SELECT TEST MODE
With the appliance in stand-by (plug connected to the power supply socket), remove the drip tray, then hold
the below buttons pressed simultaneously:
until the message SELECT TEST MODE will appear on the display. Then, within 10 seconds, re-insert the
drip tray and select one of the following functions:
