Description
Your M720
A new set has just been installed for you.
Your M720 digital set gives you access to all the services and features available within the
M6500 IP PBX and Succession 6500 ranges.
Your M720 digital set is a simple and easy to use tool thanks to:
- a memory key (used to program a number or a function),
- a message lamp,
- a key for direct access to the voicemail system,
- a mute feature.
This guide will lead you step by step in how to use this new tool.
You are recommended to take a little time out to familiarize yourself with it.
As soon as you have mastered the basic functions, you will be ready to use your new phone.
You will find that there is nothing difficult or complicated to understand in using this
telephone, just read and follow the instructions.
Note: This document shows the standard access codes for the different functions. However, these
accesses may be customized by the system operator.

specific access codes for these functions in the reserved
spaces.

To find out the system’s
software version: With the handset off-hook,
- Press the key (access code for external line).
Either you hear a dial tone in the loudspeaker and the lamp
associated with the key illuminates: the additional indications
and features highlighted on the blue backgrounds of this guide
are especially intended for your attention.
Otherwise (you have to pick up the handset before pressing the
key in order to hear the dial tone), the features highlighted
on a blue background in this guide are not available with your
current system version.
If you are in any doubt, consult your system operator.
Do not install the equipment in a damp room or near a water
outlet.
The equipment must be used at a temperature between 5°C and
45°C.
This equipment can not be connected to the public network.
This equipment is designed to be installed with a private swit-
ching system of NORTEL NETWORKS M6500 IP PBX and
SUCCESSION CSE 6500 ranges.
The voltage on this network is classed TNV1 (Telephone Net-
work Voltage) according to standard EN 60-950.
This certifies the conformity of the equipment with the
regulations which apply in accordance with the directive
R & TTE 1999/5/EC.
Use a cloth which has been dampened in slightly soapy water,
and then wipe with a dry cloth.
Your equipment will retain its new appearance if you do not
use any solvents or household cleaning products.

Description of the M720
Numeric keypad
Directory label: used to identify the correspondents (10 numbers)
which are stored in the personal abbreviated directory.
Telephone handset
Following the software version:
- You have to lift the handset before dialing a number or
using , or keys.
- You have to lift the handset before programming a function;
at the end of the sequence, replace the handset to validate the
programming.
- You can dial directly a number or use , or keys
without lifting the handset; In this case, lift the handset only
once your party answer.
- You can directly program a function; Two beeps are emitted
at the end of the sequence.
