contact the outlet where you bought this product.
This light fitting must be installed by a competent
person in accordance with the Building
Regulations making reference to the current
edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
The Building Regulations may be obtained from
OPSI (Office for Public Sector Information)
or the department of Communities and Local
Government and viewed and downloaded from
www.communities.gov.uk following the link for
Building Regulations.
As the buyer, installer and/or user of this product
it is your own responsibility to ensure that this
fitting is fit for the purpose for which you have
intended it. Eterna Lighting cannot accept any
liability for loss, damage or premature failure
resulting from inappropriate use.
If in any doubt, consult a qualified electrician.
This product is designed and constructed
according to the principles of the appropriate
British Standard and is intended for normal
domestic service. Use of this is fitting in any
other environment, for example where prolonged
periods of use may be expected and/or higher
than normal ambient temperatures, may result in
a foreshortened working life.
Switch off the mains before commencing
installation and remove the appropriate circuit
fuse.
When working at heights, please use a suitable
platform.
Suitable for outdoor use.
This product is suitable for installation on surfaces
with normal flammability (indicated by the “F” in
a triangle) e.g. wood, plasterboard, masonry.
Before making fixing hole(s), check that there are
no obstructions hidden beneath the mounting
surface such as pipes or cables.
Make sure that the fixings are strong enough to
support the considerable weight of the fitting and
hold it rigidly.
If the location of your new fitting requires the
provision of a new electrical supply, the supply
must conform with the requirements of the
Building Regulations making reference to the
current edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations
(BS7671).
This product is designed for permanent
connection to fixed wiring. This should be a
suitable circuit protected with an RCD 30ma trip.
Make connections to the electrical supply in
accordance with the following code:
The cores in the mains lead are coloured in
accordance with the following code:
Live - Brown or Red
Neutral - Blue or Black
When making connections, ensure that the
terminals are tightened securely and that no
strands of wire protrude. Check that the terminals
are tightened onto the bared conductors and not
onto any insulation. Wrap loose terminal blocks
well with insulating tape.
This fitting is double insulated; do not connect
any part to earth.
WARNING:
• The lamp surface becomes very hot after
prolonged periods of use
• This product is not intended to be used by
children and persons with sensory, physical
and/or mental impairments that would prevent
them from using it safely.
• Small children should be supervised to ensure
that they do not play with this light fitting.
IMPORTANT - Always switch off mains power
before changing the lamp.
• If the external flexible cable of this luminaire
is damaged it shall be exclusively replaced by
qualified electrician.
• You are advised at every stage of your
installation to double-check any electrical
connections you have made. After you have
completed your installation there are electrical
tests that should be carried out: these tests are
specified in the Wiring Regulations (BS7671)
referred to in the Building Regulations. If in
doubt, consult a qualified electrician.
General Information and Safety Instructions: Installation:
INSTALLATION - WALL SPOT:
1) Loosen the two screws marked A in fig. 1
sufficiently to be able to separate the base
plate from the bottom of the fitting. Take care
not to lose the internal nuts that the screws fit
into.
2) Using the base plate as a template mark the
fixing holes on the mounting surface.
3) If necessary drill the holes on the mounting
surface and insert two suitable wall plugs (not
supplied).
4) Make a hole in the grommet just big enough
for the incoming mains cable, and feed the
incoming mains cable through the grommet.
5) Insert grommet into cable entry hole in the
base plate and fit base plate to mounting
surface using two suitable screws (not
supplied).
6) Connect the incoming main cable Live:
Brown or Red to the terminal block marked L
observing the connection code above.
7) Replace the fitting over the base plate taking
care not to damage the cables and retighten
the two screws marked A in Fig. 1 below:
8) Fit the appropriate lamp gasket to the front of
the fitting. Ensure that the gasket is correctly
seated to prevent ingress of moisture.
9) Insert appropriate PAR 20 or PAR 38 lamp to
100W maximum and screw clockwise to secure
in fitting (as fig.3).
10) The angle of the single and twin wall spots
can be adjusted by loosening the adjuster
knob and screw on the neck of the fitting, E
(see fig. 2) positioning the lamps and
re-tightening.
11) Replace the circuit fuse, restore the power
supply and switch on.
INSTALLATION - GROUND SPIKE:
1) This fitting comes with a 2m mains lead and
should be connected to the mains supply using
a waterproof connection box (not supplied).
2) Use cable appropriate to your planned
installation, refer to Building / Wiring
Regulations for specific instructions for outdoor
electrical installations.
3) Press the spike into the soil or other soft
surface in your chosen location and adjust
position of the head as per fig: 2 E.
4) Route the cable to your mains supply
connection ensuring that the cable is not
positioned where it is likely to be damaged.
5) Replace the circuit fuse, restore the power and
switch on.
