LQQA Humidifier, for circulated water

Maintenance adjustments

Water:

Determine the calcium and bicarbonate content and the

pH value of the water. These values can be obtained

from a water analysis or from the local water authority.

Plot the values of bicarbonate, calcium and pH in chart

1 on page 5 to determine in which zone the water can

be classied. If the water is of zone 4 type, it should

be softened.

Level monitors g. 2

Level monitor A: Level monitor A: Closes the water

supply valve when the water

reaches max. level A.

Setting A: 65 mm from the upper edge of the

water tray (sizes 60–84).

Level monitor B: Opens the drain valve for water

bleed-off.

Setting B: The zone value obtained (see page 5)

determines at which setting level

monitor B (Fig. 2) is to be preset.

Level monitor C: Stops the circulation pump and opens

the water supply valve if the water

level drops below level C.

Setting C: 25 mm from the bottom of the water

tray (sizes 60–84)

Level relays:

NR 1, NR 2 and NR 3 are shown in Fig. 7. The level

relays are preset at a sensibility of 40 kΩ. If softened

water is used and the level monitors don’t work, the

sensibility setting can be increased to 100 kΩ.

The humidier function:

– switch on the power supply to the humidier.

The water tray will start to ll with water.

Check:

– that the pump has started and that it is pumping

water. If there is no water ow, change the direction

of rotation of the pump, see Fig. 5.

– preset the required supply water ow rate according

to Table 1. This is done by setting the adjustment

screw on the ow controller, shown in Fig. 4.

– that water is being discharged from all of the holes

in the spray pipe(s). If any holes are clogged, use a

needle to unclog them. If the spray pipe(s) is/are

extremely clogged, remove the end plugs (17), brush

inside them using a round brush and then ush

them clean.

– that the ow of supply water stops when the water

level in the tray reaches level monitor A.

– that water bleed-off can be done by manually opening

the drain valve approx. half way (45°), see Fig. 3.

The valve can be reclosed by pressing a reset button

on the control unit. When the water level has drop-

ped below the lowest point of sensor B, the drain

valve should open fully. If the water level continues

to drop below the lowest point of sensor C, water

inlet valve should begin to open and after a preset

period (see Table 2, Fig. 6) the drain valve should

start to close. When the water reaches level C, the

pump should soon stop.

(The pump should not run when the water level is

below level C.)

– The preset period on the time relay should be according

to Table 2, 3 and Fig. 6.

Droplet eliminator

The droplet eliminator lls must be correctly tted for

the direction of air ow, see the arrow on the droplet

eliminator.

Water quality

Evaporation causes an increase in the concentration of

minerals in the circulating water, which necessitates

continuous bleed-off and make-up with fresh water.

The bleed-off rate is dependent on factors such as:

■ the pH of the water

■ the bicarbonate concentration (HCO3 ), mg/l

■ the calcium concentration (Ca2+), mg/l

This data can be obtained from a municipal water autho-

rity or by analysing the water.

Lime precipitation can be prevented by plotting the per-

tinent data in Chart 1 on page 4 to determine the current

risk zone. Water level monitor B can then be set according

to the relevant zone. If the water is too hard, it may be

necessary to subject it to partial softening.

In addition to the risk of lime precipitation, the concentra-

tion of chlorine (Cl) and copper (Cu) must be taken into

account. To ensure acceptable performance, the concen-

tration of Cl in the fresh water must not exceed 50 mg/l

and that of Cu must not exceed 0.02 mg/l.

To set the timer for emptying and flushing

For normal function, the timer should be preset to

”ON”. When emptying, which can be programmed to

occur once or several (optional) times every 24-hour

period, the timer will reset itself to the ”OFF” setting

for 10 minutes. After that, the timer will reset itself to

”ON” for 2 minutes to allow ushing.

The timer will then reset itself to the ”OFF” setting

for 3 minutes for additional emptying before resetting

itself back to ”ON” for normal operation.

In the following example, emptying and ushing

are required once every 24 hours from 12.00 to 12.15 as

scheduled below.

This can be done most easily by programming the ope-

ration times from 12.15 to 12.00 and from 12.10 to 12.12

The timer has been preset at the factory for emptying and

ushing as described above once every 24-hour period.

The numbers under the display indicate days of

the week

1 = Monday, 2 = Tuesday, etc.

Chart 1

Zone 1 is the safe zone, in which the water is soft or

demineralized.

Zone 2 is the lower part of the transition zone, in which

the water can be said to be of normal drinking quality.

Zone 3 is the upper part of the transition zone, in which

the water is relatively hard.

Zone 4 is the precipitation zone, in which the water is

very hard. The water must be subjected to partial softe-

ning, so that its quality will be within zone 2–3.

However, the softening treatment must not lower the

quality of the water to zone 1.

Example

Data from the municipal water authority:

pH = 7,6

Bikarbonate 70 mg/l

Calcium 30 mg/l

The following particulars are required to be able to deter-

mine the water quality zone.

■the pH of the water

Water consumption

The water consumption consists of the water evapora-

ted and a certain amount of water bleed-off. This bleed-

off ow is necessary to reduce the consumption of salts

in the circulating water. If the concentration of salts is

too high, salts may be deposited on the humidier ll,

which will have a detrimental effect on the performan-

ce of the humidier.

The chart above can be used to determine the appro-

priate bleed-off ow.

If the humidier has been sized for running over a long

period at a high humidication rate

tively is recommended if the water tray is emptied and

ushed twice a day. (See: To set the timer for emptying

and ushing.)

Periods out of service

The controller of the humidier switches to the emptying

mode whenever the fan is switched out.

Clean the water tray if the system is to be shut down

for an extended period, such as during the annual holiday

and long weekends.

If the humidier is to be out of service for some time,

the humidier lls should be removed, cleaned and sto-

red in a place where they will not sustain damage.

To shut down the humidifier

A. Isolate the power supply

B. Stop the fans, if they are operating.

Cleaning or replacement of the humidifier

fills and droplet eliminators

A. Shut down the humidifier.

B. Open the inspection door.

C. Withdraw the spacer plate as shown in Fig. 8.

D. Withdraw the droplet eliminators and humidifier

fills straight out of the humidifier. See Fig. 8.

Important!

The inner humidifier fills can be reached if you

carefully step on the edge of the water tray. Avoid

walking on the bottom of the water tray, guide

rails or electric cables.

E. The fills are relatively fragile and therefore should

be treated with great care. Clean by spraying with a

jet of clean water, possibly containing the ULCZ-01

cleaning agent. When replacing the humidifier

fills, see the appropriate instructions supplied

with the new fills.

F. Refit the components in the reverse order.

G. Check the position of the spacer plate and close

the door.

To clean the water tray

A. Shut down the humidifier.

B. Withdraw the humidifier fills and the droplet

eliminators.

C. Open the drain valve manually to drain the water

tray.

Important!

Do not walk on the bottom of the water tray,

guide rails or electric cables.

D. The water tray is now exposed and can easily be

cleaned with the flushing hose supplied.

E. Refit the components in the reverse order.

F. Check the position of the spacer plate and close

the door.
