General Description

The MB1500EB01 and MB1500EB01Q are the evaluation board for MB15E0xSL and MB15E0xSR.

The difference of the evaluation board part number is the package type. MB1500EB01 is for TSSOP

or SSOP package. MB1500EB01Q is for QFN package. You can evaluate almost performance for

PLL with the evaluation board. (MB1500EB01Q for MB15E03/E07SL only)

When evaluating MB15E0xSL and MB15E0xSR, you can measure the RF loop characteristics by

putting the VCO and the LPF components.

Each output pad for RF VCO output and the external input for REF, CLK, Data, LE are prepared on

the board. Thus it is easy to connect their input/output. VCO and loop filter are not help you on the

board, so you can mount whatever you want.

Regarding CLK, Data and LE input, Fujitsu prepares the software and the cable or the interface board.

This set (Soft ware&Cable) control the data on a PC easily. (The part number of the cable is

MB1500EB00A. The interface board is MB1500EB00)

The socket for IC is set on the board, by which you can try evaluating many samples.

1.0 Design Kit

The design kit includes the following items.

-Evaluation board with the socket for QFN package or SSOP package.

-Evaluation board manual

3.0 Set up

1.VCO and Loop filter

The VCO and LPF are not mounted on the board, so you mount them on the board.

2.REFin

Connect a signal generator or TCXO to the REF pad. If the TCXO module is used, remove the

51ohm resistor.

3.VCO output

Connect RFVCO output pad to the spectrum analyzer or the modulation domain analyzer.

*SMA connector is not mounted on RF VCO output pad.

4.CLK, Data, LE

Connect the output pin of printer port or the special cable through a PC to the pins of CLK,

Data and LE.

Fujitsu prepare the special cable for the Fujitsu’s software of writing data.

The part number is MB1500EB00A. If you need it, please contact the sales.

5.Vcc and Vp

Connect a DC power supply output to the Vcc and Vp pins.

Vcc and Vp must supply equal voltage. Even if either RF-PLLor IF-PLLis not used, power must

be supplied to both VccRF and Vp To keep them equal, it is recommended that the non-use PLLis

controlled by power saving function.

6.PLLIC

The socket is attached on the board. It helps you to measure many PLL samples.

7.Power saving switch

There is a switch to control of power saving mode on the board for SSOP package. You can switch

the power saving mode and the normal mode. Regarding the board for QFN package, there is no switch

for controlling Power saving. Please TP3 shorts to VCC or GND to operate PLL.

4.0 Device (PLLIC) information

The evaluation board, MB1500EB01 can evaluate the following devices.
