FA30Setup,InstallationandTroubleshootingTips

TheFA30hasanEthernetportthatallowsdirectconnectiontoanyNavNetNetwork.Thisfeaturedoes

notrequireserialinterfacing,andmakestheNavNetVX2NMEAportsavailableforotherNMEA

interfacingneeds.UsuallytheFA30willbeconnectedtoaNavNetnetworkusingtheEthernetport.This

Documentwillmainlyaddressthistypeofconnection.TheFA30alsohasaregularNMEAinput/output

COMportthatprovidesaserialconnectionforusewithotherAIScapableequipment.Whenusingthe

serialportoftheFA30usethetraditionalmethodsofconfirmingthepresenceorabsenceofdata(such

asPortMonitororHyperTerminal).



WhenconnectedtoaHUB,usearegularstraightRJ45toRJ45Ethernetcable:



WhenconnectingtheFA‐30directlytoaNavNetprocessor,useacrossoverRJ45to6PinEthernetcable

(000‐159‐705).

IstheFA30receivinganyAISTargets?

ThefirstthingtocheckistheStatusLEDonthefrontoftheFA‐30.

antennaisnotcorrectlywired(ordamaged).

IftheFA30isnotaccessible(orLEDnotvisible),youcanuseaPCtochecktheStatusoftheFA30

remotely.Refertoattheendofthisdocument.
