Setting Up the Blender

Above Counter Installation (model 91605)

Before you begin

Select the installation location carefully. The

following guidelines must be followed when

selecting a suitable location:

•The Quiet Shield™ requires at least 20

inches of clearance between the counter-

top and any overhead cabinets. Allow a

minimum of 5 inches of clearance behind

the unit.

•The unit should be installed within four

feet of a grounded three-prong outlet

equipped with a Ground Fault Circuit

Interruptor.

•The countertop should be level and

stable, and capable of supporting

the blender.

•If multiple units are being installed side-

by-side, allow at least 16 inches center

to center between units.

•Take proximity to customers, closeness to

ingredients, and sufficient workspace into

consideration when selecting a location.

Installing the Blender

1. Once a suitable location has been

selected, place the blender base on

the counter. DO NOT plug it in at

this time.

2. Install the Quiet Shield according to the

instructions on page 7.

3. Check to make sure there is sufficient

clearance for the Quiet Shield to open

and close properly.

4. Plug the blender into a grounded three-

prong outlet equipped with a Ground

Fault Circuit Interruptor.

Converting the Blender for

In-Counter Installation

In-Counter Installation (model 91655)

Before you begin

Select the installation location carefully. The

following guidelines must be followed when

selecting a suitable location:

•The Quiet Shield™ requires at least 20

inches of clearance between the counter-

top and any overhead cabinets. Allow a

minimum of 5 inches of clearance behind

the unit.

•The countertop should be level and

stable. The countertop surface should

be smooth to allow the gasket to seal

properly around the unit, and the blender

cut-out should not have any sharp edges.

Stainless steel counters are NOT

recommended.

•The unit should be installed within four

feet of an undercounter grounded three

prong outlet equipped with a Ground

Fault Circuit Interruptor.

•Select a location with sufficient under-

counter air flow for cooling the blender.

Hot air must not be trapped below the

countertop. Allow at least 3 inches of

clearance below and around the base

of the blender for air circulation.

•If multiple units are being installed side-

by-side, allow at least 16 inches center

to center between units.

•Take proximity to customers, closeness to

ingredients, and sufficient workspace into

consideration when selecting a location.

Required Countertop Cutout Dimensions

Installing the Blender

1. Once a suitable location has been

selected and all clearances have been

checked, carefully cut a square hole in

the countertop, 41⁄4″x 53⁄4″. The short

side of the hole should be parallel to

the front edge of the countertop.

NOTE: Before cutting, make sure that

there is nothing below the countertop

that could interfere with cutting or instal-

lation, such as wiring, water lines, etc.

Have a qualified technician cut the hole

in the countertop.

Do not place the unit near chemicals or

other flammable materials.

2. Insert the blender base into the hole,

making sure that the cord is completely

through the hole. Make sure the rubber

sealing gasket is tight against the dry

countertop all the way around the

blender base.

3. Install the Quiet Shield according to the

instructions on page 7.

4. The area under the counter must be

well-ventilated to reduce the likelihood

of the unit overheating.

5. Plug the blender into a grounded three-

prong undercounter outlet equipped with

a Ground Fault Circuit Interruptor.

Installing the Quiet Shield™

What is the Quiet Shield?

The Quiet Shield is designed to reduce the

noise level and help prevent splashing or

spattering. It allows the blender to be used

in locations where noise could otherwise

be a problem, such as the counter area

of a coffee shop.

Installing the Quiet Shield

1. Remove the thumb screws.

2. Position the shield over the blender

base so that the two holes in the side

and the hole in the back line up with the

holes in the base.

3. Slide the back hole screw into place.

4. Line up the two side screws and screw

them into the base.

5. Make sure that the thumbscrews

are tight.

The Quiet Shield can be removed for

cleaning in a dishwasher by reversing

steps 1–4 above.

NOTE: The Quiet Shield™ may be placed

in the dishwasher for cleaning; however,

the high temperatures and sanitizers may

shorten the life of the plastic. See “Cleaning

the Blender” on page 14 for recommended

cleaning instructions.
