AUTOMATION MANUAL
FOR SWING GATES
with slowdown (HELB9C)
REV 1.7
ASSEMBLY AND OPERATION MANUAL
The following assembly and operating manual is an inseparable part of the HATO SWING
swing gate drive, it is intended only for ualified installers and should be read thoroughly and

completely before starting the assembly. The manual applies only to the drive for the gate, not to the
entire device which is the `` automatic gate ''.
RECOMMENDATIONS AND PRECAUTIONS FOR INSTALLATION
► These operating instructions are intended on y for proper y icensed insta ers, who know the
rules of good engineering practice and safety devices to protect against hazards, installed in gates,
doors and motorized gates (observe the applicable standards and regulations).
► Use the product as intended.
► Only install the drive in correctly fitted gates.
► Before starting the installation, the installer should carry out a risk analysis for automatic end
closure and the protection of the entire system (in accordance with EN 12453 and EN 12445).
► Wiring of individual electrical components that are part of the automatic closing system (e.g.
photocells, flashing lights, etc.) should be made in accordance with EN 60204-1 as amended by this
standard in clause 5.2.2 of EN 12453.
► The installation must be carried out with basic ESD protection.
► All work related to the proper functioning of the device (connection, start-up, operation) must be
carried out in accordance with the applicable regulations in the field of electrical e uipment operation
and in accordance with health and safety regulations as well as with the standards in force in a given
country.
► During any welding work in the vicinity of the gate, disconnect the gate drive from the power supply
and disconnect the electronic circuits.
► Before carrying out any work on the drive, disconnect the power supply and secure it against being
switched on again. This also applies to battery operation.
► Before starting the installation, check the mechanical condition of the gate: it should not sway
excessively, it should move easily and smoothly. It must not tilt when opening or closing and must be
level.
► Be especially careful during assembly! The controller uses 230Vac voltage (life and health
threatening).
► During installation, keep the gate away from children, handicapped persons and motor vehicles.
► Installation, connection and initial commissioning of the gate drive may be performed only by
ualified personnel.
► The methods of electrical installation as well as its protection against electric shock are defined by
the applicable standards and legal regulations.
► Do not connect the drive to the power supply earlier than specified in the manual, failure to do so
may result in electric shock.
► All fixed control elements should be located near the gate, but away from moving parts and out of
the reach of outsiders.
► The power line should be protected against the maximum current with locked rotor.
► The controls must be mounted at a minimum height of 1.5 m above the ground and out of the reach
of the moving parts.
► The gate actuator must be connected to a control unit e uipped with tor ue control that provides
protection against crushing in accordance with the provisions of EN 12453 - EN 12445.
► Install the safety devices (photocells, safety edges, curtains, etc.).
► Installation of a possible pair of photocells: the photocell beam should be at a height not exceeding
70 cm from the ground and at a distance from the plane of leaf movement that does not exceed 20
cm. After completing the installation, check that the photocells are working properly in accordance with
the provisions of clause 7.2.1 of EN 12445.
► If there is an entrance door (wicket) within the range of operation of the gate, it must be closed
when the gate is in motion - install an additional safety device to prevent movement when the door is
open.
► Check that the assembly is correct and that all bolts and nuts are tightened.
► Carry out a test of all safety features and a functional test.
► Perform acceptance measurements for compliance with the applicable standards.
► Check the effectiveness of the PE circuit.
► Prepare a report on the acceptance procedure.
► Issue the EC declaration of conformity.
► Inform and train all door users about safety recommendations, periodic inspections and
2

maintenance.
► Before repairing or removing any parts of the gate, disconnect the power supply.
► It is forbidden to perform any work on the repair or adjustment of the device, if all the necessary
precautions to protect against the hazard have not been taken (e.g. disconnection of the power supply,
blocking the motor). All moving parts must be e uipped with appropriate safeguards.
► Do not carry out any work that changes the device.
► The modified device must be marked with the new CE mark.
► Adjustments of the gate automation functions must be performed by a ualified person in
accordance with the applicable standards. Such work should be performed by two people.
► Mark the door with warning signs in the identified potentially dangerous places - AUTOMATIC
MOTION GATE.
► In the event of any changes made to the product without the consent of the manufacturer, failure to
comply with the safety rules and applicable standards referred to in this manual, HATO POLSKA S.C.
bears no responsibility for property damage, disability or damage caused to the animals.
► The manufacturer is not liable for damage and malfunctions resulting from failure to observe these
installation and operating instructions.
► The fitter must provide the user with all information regarding the functioning of the entire device,
which is the automatic gate, as well as the use in emergency mode (e.g. power failure). The user must
be provided with all the instructions on maintaining safety measures when using the automatic gate.
The installation and operating manual must be handed over to the user in accordance with the
re uirements of EN 12635.
► The user must be informed that in the event of a product defect, switch off the main switch and that
the door may only be restarted after the necessary repair or adjustment work has been carried out.
► Make sure that the namep ate with the engine seria number is not removed or damaged - it
may void the warranty!
Fai ure to fo ow the instructions above may resu t in serious injury or
equipment damage. The manufacturer is not iab e for damage and
ma functions resu ting from fai ure to observe these insta ation and
operating instructions.
In accordance with the applicable regulations on the disposal of waste
e uipment by private users in the European Union, items bearing this symbol
MUST NOT be disposed of with other rubbish. In this case, the user is
responsible for proper disposal by delivering the device to a designated point,
or to the manufacturer who will take care of its further disposal. Separate
collection and recycling of unnecessary e uipment helps to protect the
environment and ensures that disposal is carried out in a manner that
protects human health and the environment. This note also applies to waste
batteries and accumulators.
The fo owing safety ru es must be strict y adhered to when insta ing and using the
gate automation:
Keep a safe distance!
Be carefu with moving parts!

Do not insta gate automation in environments with exp osive mixtures!
Danger of e ectric shock!
Use g oves!
Use safety g asses!
Do not remove the cover!

APPLICATION OF THE AUTOMATIC SYSTEM
The SWING 400/600 operator has been designed and manufactured to open gates with a maximum
leaf length of 5 m and a maximum weight of 200 kg. and the area of the wing building 2m2. The HATO
company is not liable if the SWING 400/600 drive is used for purposes other than those specified.
Gate automation can be controlled remotely with a remote control or from close proximity with a
4

button. It is essential to check regularly that all safety devices are working properly. We recommend
that the electronic clutch is regularly checked (every six months) with which the control unit should be
fitted.
