2. General information

These operating instructions are only valid for Honeywell Fall Protection fall arresters for loads.

Only the manufacturer is allowed to modify the device.

The user has to take notice of the actual Regulations (laws, regulations, rules for accident prevention, technical

regulations) see attachment page 3.

3. Description of the fall arrester

The fall arrester for loads consists of a steel housing containing a rope drum pretensioned by a spring.

This spring tension guarantees that the lanyard is tensioned permanently and consequently that the

brake is activated immediately in case of a fall. The brake reacts to a rope extraction speed of approxima-

tely 0,35 m/s – 1,75 m/s and slows the falling load down so that the stopping distance is up to ca. 800mm

(depending on load and device type). More exact values are added in the technical data.

It is no aloud to make a combination of the load arrester with other devices or other equipment for example

system parts of personal security equipment.

4. Technical data

5. Necessary supplementary parts

The compatibility between the load arrester and the connecting eye of the load has to be warranted.

For the connecting with anchorage point you have to use a proper shackle or a proper steel rope-loop with

shackle or snap hook regarding to DIN EN 362:2008-9.

At all types of device additional fall indicators are attached. Examine before each use/installation whether these

were not released yet

Generally applies: after a crash the equipment MUST go for inspection.

6. Proper application / Operations

General Information

Check fall arrester for loads for defects before each putting into operations

( e.g. improper winding oﬀ or up, slack line).

Only use necessary supplementary parts aloud by manufacturer or security management.

The user has to get training, of correct anchorage, storage and identify damages in front of the ﬁrst using and an

annual refresh.

Take care that the rope is tight all the time. Do not give load on the rope when it is completely out of the load

arrester.

Do not expose the load arrester to aggressive substance or aggressive atmosphere. Exclude all possibility of

extreme dust.

In fact of a damage or operational demands, for example after catching a fall and adjust a load, the load arrest

has to be blocked for any use. Do not use the load arrester before release of manufacturer of accredited partner.

It is not allowed to use the rope over sharp edges.

ATTENTION! Do not use the load arrester for security of people. Never stay under the saved load.

The temperature mustn´t be more than +80° Celsius and not less than –30° Celsius.

Anchorage

Fix the load arrester only upside of the load with a proper anchorage point. Take care that the ﬁxing is ﬂexible to

pulling direction.

The ﬁxing of the load arrester has to follow as written in point 5 of this manual.

Never ﬁx the load arrester on devices, which generate agitation.

Take care that the load does not bound on the underground or to other obstacle. Also take care that a crash into

other objects is not possible.

To save loads with double weight it is aloud to use a special pulley. The load has to be ﬁxed on the pulley. The

free end of the rope has to be ﬁxed on a second proper anchorage point so that the weight is half to the two

ropes. (see picture)

7. Storage and transport

The temperature mustn’t be more than +80° Celsius and not less than –30° Celsius while storage the load arres-

ter.

Do not expose the load arrester to aggressive substance or aggressive atmosphere. If happens a contamination

with industrial or ecological influences you have to arrange a cleaning or disinfect the device also you have to

give the load arrester to service.

It is helpful to use a case for transport and storage.

8. Repaire instructions / maintenance

The user of the fall arrester for loads is responsible for the execution of maintenance and possible repairs.

Repair and maintenance should take place at the manufacturer’s plant or be executed thoroughly by an autho-

rized service partner.

A check-up by an expert of secure does not replace maintenance by manufacturer or authorized service partner.

make sure that it is possible to move the rope into and

out of the device.

Protection of the device

Do not drop down the load arrester.

Never let run the rope uncontrolled and with speed

into the device. (danger of broken spring)

Use a general-purpose rope to control the speed.

if a device came into contact with chemicals, the de-

vice shoudl be serviced by the manufacturer.

The cleaning and service instructions are to be kept strictly!

Consider also the valid in each case regulations and sets of rules.

Upon a resale of this equipment into another country the retailer has available appropriate differently spoken

guidances for use to place the regular examinations and repair.

9. Check-up

The load arrestor should have at least one yearly inspection by a safety specialist. This inspection includes the

load arrestor and also the used ropes.

Specialist of secure is someone who is trained to EN 45000.

Only the manufacturer or from him authorized people are aloud to make annual inspection.

10. Period of eliminate

The period of eliminate will be regulate by maintenance and annual inspection.

2. Allgemeines

Änderungen am Gerät dürfen nur vom Hersteller durchgeführt werden.

Es sind die zur Zeit gültigen Regelsetzungen (Gesetze, Verordnungen, Unfallverhütungsvorschriften, Regeln der

Technik) zu beachten - siehe hierzu Anhang 3.

3. Beschreibung des Produktes und Systems

Das Lastsicherungsgerät ist ein Auﬀanggerät - Sicherung der Last

gegen Herabfallen - mit selbsttätiger Blockierfunktion und einer automatischen Spann- und Einziehvor-

richtung für das Seil. Das energieabsorbierende Einzelteil ist im Gerät integriert. Diese Bremseinrichtung

reagiert auf eine Seilauszugs-geschwindigkeit von ca. 0,35 m/sec – 1,75 m/sec. Dabei beträgt die Auf-

fangstrecke bis zu ca. 800 mm (je nach Last und Geräte-Typ). Genauere Werte sind in den technischen

Daten angefügt.

Das Lastsicherungsgerät darf nicht mit anderen Geräten oder

sonstigen Ausrüstungen z. B. Teilsystemen oder Bestandteilen von persönlichen Schutzausrüstungen kombiniert

werden.

5. Notwendige Ergänzungsteile

Die Kompatibilität zwischen dem Lastsicherungsgerät und der Anhängeöse der Last muß gewährleistet sein.

Für die Befestigung am Anschlagpunkt ist ein geeigneter Schäkel oder eine ausreichend tragfähige Stahl-

seilschlaufe mit Schäkel oder Karabinerhaken nach DIN EN 362:2008-9 zu verwenden.

Wichtige Hinweise!

An allen Gerätetypen sind zusätzliche Fallindikatoren angebracht.

Prüfen Sie vor jeder Benutzung/Installation, ob diese noch nicht ausgelöst wurden.

Generell gilt: nach einem Absturz MUSS das Gerät zur Inspektion

6. Benutzung

Allgemeines

Vor dem Gebrauch ist das Gerät auf den ordnungsgemäßen Zustand und das einwandfreie Funktionieren zu

prüfen.

Es dürfen nur die vom Hersteller und vom Unternehmen des Benutzers bezeichneten Ergänzungsteile verwen-

det werden.

Die Beschäftigten sind vor der ersten Benutzung und nach Bedarf, mindestens jedoch einmal jährlich, mind. über

die bestehenden Anforderungen, die bestimmungsgemäße Benutzung, das richtige Anschlagen, die ordnungs-

gemäße Aufbewahrung, das Erkennen von Schäden, zu unterweisen.

Das Seil des Gerätes ist straﬀ zu halten. Eine Belastung bei voll ausgezogenem Seil darf nicht erfolgen.

Das Gerät darf keinen Einwirkungen von aggressiven Stoﬀen oder einer aggressiven Atmosphäre ausgesetzt

werden. Eine größere Staubeinwirkung muß ausgeschlossen sein.

Nach Beschädigung oder Beanspruchung, zum Beispiel Auﬀangen nach dem Fall und Arretieren der Last, ist

das Gerät der Benutzung zu entziehen, bis der Hersteller oder einer durch ihn beauftragten Person der weiteren

Benutzung zugestimmt hat.

Das Seil darf nicht über scharfe Kanten geführt werden, d.h. zum Zeitpunkt der Beanspruchung darf das Seil

nicht über/an einer scharfen Kante liegen.

Achtung: Das Gerät darf nicht zur Sicherung von Personen gegen Absturz verwendet werden. Bezüglich des

Aufenthaltes unter Lasten sind die jeweiligen berufsgenossenschaftlichen Regelungen und Vorschriften einzu-

halten.

Das Gerät darf keinen höheren Temperaturen als 80 Grad Celsius oder keinen tieferen Temperaturen als minus 30

Grad Celsius ausgesetzt werden.

Anschlagen

Das Lastsicherunggerät darf nur an einem geeigneten Anschlagpunkt oberhalb der Last angeschlagen werden.

Dabei ist das Gerät so zu befestigen, daß es sich der Auszugsrichtung anpassen kann.

Befestigung des Gerätes am Anschlagpunkt mit Anschlaghilfen gemäß Abschnitt 6.2.

Das Lastsicherungsgerät darf nicht an erschütterungserzeugenden Geräten, z.B. Mäklern, befestigt werden.

Das Gerät ist so anzubringen, daß das Aufprallen der Last auf den Boden oder andere Hindernisse ausgeschlos-

sen ist und ein Anprallen an festen Gegenständen vermieden wird.

Um die doppelte Last der angegebenen Maximallast absichern zu können, wird das Seil des Gerätes über die

spezielle Umlenkrolle geführt, die an der Last befestigt wird. Das freie Ende des Seiles wird so an einem zweiten

ausreichend tragfähigem Anschlagpunkt angeschlagen, so daß jeder Seilstrang die halbe Last trägt (Einsche-

rung). Siehe auch Skizze.

7. Lagerung und Transport

Das Gerät darf nicht bei höheren Temperaturen als 80 Grad Celsius, d.h. nicht in der Nähe von Feuer oder ande-

ren Hitzequellen, oder bei tieferen Temperaturen als minus 30 Grad Celsius gelagert werden.

Beispiel: ein Lastsicherungsgerät mit

Bei der Anbringung des Gerätes und der Sicherung

der Last ist darauf zu achten, daß das Seil ein- und aus-

ziehbar ist.

Schutz des Gerätes

Das Lastsicherungsgerät darf nicht abgeworfen wer-

den.

Das Seil darf nicht frei zurücklaufen (Gefahr des Fe-

derbruchs). Gegebenenfalls ist ein Führungsseil zu

verwenden.

Sollte erkennbar sein, daß am Gerät Einwirkungen von

Chemikalien erfolgt sind, so ist beim Hersteller vor

der weiteren Benutzung eine Revision zu veranlassen

(siehe auch Ziﬀ. 9).
