1 Introduction
This document provides site preparation details to help ensure a successful printer delivery and installation. The
site preparation process is your responsibility and must be completed before product delivery occurs.
NOTE: It is important to read the information provided in this guide thoroughly and ensure complete
compliance with all installation and operation prerequisites, safety procedures, warnings, cautions, and local
regulations.
At the end of this document is a checklist, which you should ll out, sign, and return to the reseller or HP sales
representative.
What to expect
System conguration
Your printer is supplied almost fully assembled and ready for the simple installation procedures performed by
your support engineer. It comes complete with printhead(s) and a printhead cleaning module.
NOTE: See Required supplies and equipment on page 39. You, as the customer, must order and have
available the minimum necessary supplies at the time of installation.
During installation
On the day of installation, a support representative will be on site to perform the following tasks:
1. Set up the printer for rst power-on.
2. Perform all the alignment calibrations.
3. Connect the printer and designated computer to your local network, ensuring connectivity to your HP 3D
Center by PrintOS account.
4. Run one or more print tests to validate the installation.
5. Provide basic operation training.
6. Help you to sign the Certicate of Installation that will activate your warranty.

2 Plan for the printer delivery truck
Read this section to obtain the information you need to make a successful coordinated delivery.
Special site access requirements
If your location will require security clearance for the printer delivery truck, you will need to work with the
trucking company to arrange security clearance before delivery is attempted.
Printer reception requirements
Identify the printer delivery location and receiving dock parameters, such as:
●Truck access and any truck size restrictions
●Available unloading space
●Delivery location (receiving dock) features to match delivery truck needs
Printer crate dimensions and weight
Width 1770 mm (69.69 in)
Depth 1143 mm (45 in)
Height 2013 mm (79.25 in)
Weight 844.5 kg (1862 lb)
NOTE: The printer should be kept indoors. If it is moved from a cold location, allow suicient time to acclimate
the printer to the installation site.
ENWW Special site access requirements 3

3 Plan for moving and uncrating the printer
This section will help you to determine whether the printer can be moved in the crate to the nal location, or
whether it will need to be uncrated and then rolled.
CAUTION: Unloading and moving the printer and all system components is your responsibility and not HP's.
Failure to provide the required moving and lifting equipment could result in personal injury or printer damage
during installation.
Moving equipment and personnel
NOTE: The printer should be uncrated as close to the installation location as possible.
●You may decide to hire a specialist mover, who should be familiar with your site and should read the moving
information in this guide.
●Ensure that you have the equipment needed to handle the crate: HP recommends a fork lift or pallet jack.
CAUTION: After the printer has been uncrated, do not attempt to move it with a fork lift or pallet jack,
which would damage the printer.
●The printer should be moved in the upright position at all times.
4 Chapter 3 Plan for moving and uncrating the printer ENWW

Moving the crated printer
Determine whether the printer crate can be moved to the nal location (see Printer crate dimensions and weight
on page 3). Check whether the dimensions of the doorways and hallways along the delivery path meet minimum
clearance requirements listed below.
With packaging
Minimum doorway width 1343 mm (52.87 in)
Minimum doorway height 2300 mm (90.55 in)
Space requirements for uncrating
Ensure that you have enough room to uncrate the printer.
NOTE: Measurements are approximate, and should be used as general guidelines only.
The oor space required for uncrating the printer is 2.4 × 5.9 m (7.9 × 19.4 ft), and the minimum ceiling height is
2.44 m (8 ft).
Uncrating the printer
Uncrating the printer will require a minimum of two people.
NOTE: The shipping crate comes with a ramp.

4 Plan the printer production area and
environment
You are responsible for the preparation of the printer production area, which includes the following topics:
●Safety
●Printer space requirements
●Flooring considerations
●Environmental requirements
●Electrical requirements
Safety considerations
Fire-ghting equipment
You must provide two re extinguishers for the site. Make sure the extinguishers are placed where they are easily
accessible in case of re.
●A re extinguisher certied for electrical res must be in the print production area.
●A re extinguisher should be placed in the materials storage area, due to the large amount of combustible
dust (material).
Suitable materials for re-ghting include carbon dioxide, water spray, dry chemicals, and foam.
Emergency exits
Exit paths and rst-aid stations should also be considered.
Other equipment in the production area
Make sure that the printer is located in an area accessible by trained personnel only.
The printer is not intended for hazardous locations or ATEX-classied zones: ordinary locations only.
An ordinary location is a location that is not expected to have combustible dust clouds, and therefore it does not
need any specic protection against explosions. The opposite would be a hazardous location or ATEX-classied
zone, in which you can expect to nd combustible dust clouds, and which is therefore generally constructed to
resist explosions caused by an ignition source close to the dust clouds.
HP recommends that the recommended operation space be maintained. Additionally, the printer should be
protected against risks potentially created by other nearby installed equipment. That is, the printer can be
installed in the same room as other equipment, but it should be installed away from other equipment that could
potentially create a hazard during operation.
