About This Document

Purpose

The isolation transformer is used to transfer electrical power from a source of alternating

current to equipment or device while isolating the powered device from power source to

protect against electric shock, suppress electrical noise in sensitive devices, or transfer power

between two circuits which must not be connect. Three phase transformer with capacity of

20-350kVA is widely used for medium and high power capacity scenario in industry such as

telecom, rail transit, solar, etc.

1 Safety Precautions

1.1 General Safety Precautions

1. General safety precautions

To ensure human safety and equipment security, pay attention to all the precautions

marked on the equipment and instructed in the product documentation.

The "NOTICE", "CAUTION", "WARNING", and "DANGER" statements in this

document do not represent all the safety instructions. They are only supplements to the

safety instructions.

2. Local laws and regulations

Comply with local laws and regulations when operating the equipment. The safety

instructions in the document are only supplements to the local laws and regulations.

3. Personnel requirements

Personnel who plan to install or maintain Huawei equipment must receive a thorough

training, understand all necessary safety precautions, and be able to perform all

operations correctly.

−Only trained and qualified personnel are allowed to install, operate, and maintain

the equipment.

−Only personnel certified or authorized by Huawei are allowed to replace or change

the equipment or components (including software).

−Any fault or error that might cause safety problems must be reported immediately to

a supervisor.

4. Grounding requirements

−When installing the equipment, ground it first.

−When removing the equipment, disconnect the ground cable finally.

−Do not damage the ground conductor.

−Do not operate the equipment in the absence of a properly installed ground

conductor.

−The equipment must be grounded permanently. Before operating the equipment,

check the electrical connection of the equipment to ensure that it is securely

grounded.

5. Personal requirements

−Do not operate the equipment or cables during thunderstorms.

−Remove the AC power connector and do not use the fixed terminal or touch the

terminal or antenna connector in a thunderstorm.

−Before operating the equipment, wear electrostatic discharge (ESD) clothes, ESD

gloves, and an ESD wrist strap. Do not wear conductors such as jewelry or watches

when operating the equipment.

−In the case of a fire, immediately leave the building or the equipment area, and turn

on the fire alarm bell or make an emergency call. Never enter a building or

equipment area that is on fire.

6. Equipment requirements

−Before operations, ensure that the equipment is firmly secured to the floor or other

solid objects, such as a wall or an installation rack.

−Do not block the air vent while the system is operating.

−Tighten the screws using tools when installing panels.

−After installation, remove the packing materials from the equipment area.

1.2 Electrical Safety

1. High voltage

The equipment is powered by high-voltage power sources. Direct or indirect contact

(especially through damp objects) with high-voltage power sources may result in serious

injury or death.

Non-standard and improper high-voltage operations may result in accidents such as fire or

electric shock.

2. High electricity leakage

Ground the equipment before powering it on. Otherwise, personal injury or equipment

damage may be caused by high electricity leakage.

If a "high electricity leakage" tag is attached near the power terminal of the equipment,

you must ground the protective ground terminal on the enclosure before connecting the

AC power supply; otherwise, electric shock as a result of electricity leakage may occur.

3. Power cable

Do not connect or disconnect power cables with power on. Transient contact between the core

of a power cable and a conductor may generate electric arcs or sparks, which may cause fire

or hurt human eyes.

−Before installing or removing a power cable, turn off the power switch.

−Before connecting a power cable, check that the label on the power cable is correct.

4. Fuse

To ensure that the equipment runs safely, if a fuse is blown, replace it with a new fuse of the

same type and specifications.

1.3 Inflammable Environment

Do not place the equipment in an environment that has inflammable and explosive gas or

smoke. Do not perform any operation in such an environment.

Operating an electrical device in an inflammable environment can be fatal.

1.4 Mechanical Safety

1. Sharp objects

Before handling the equipment, wear protective gloves to avoid getting injured by sharp

edges.

2. Moving heavy objects

Wear protective gloves to protect hands when moving heavy objects.

Be cautious to avoid injury when moving heavy objects.

It is recommended that tools such as a pallet truck be used to transport the heavy isolation

transformer cabinet.

1.5 Routing Cables

Bind signal cables and strong-current cables or high-voltage cables separately.

2. Routing cables

When the temperature is low, violent impact or vibration may damage the plastic cable

sheathing. To ensure safety, comply with the following requirements:

−Route or install cables only when the temperature is higher than 0°C.

−Cables stored at subzero temperatures must be stored at room temperature for at

least 24 hours before they are laid out.

−Move the cables with care, especially at a low temperature. Do not drop the cables

directly from the vehicle.

1.6 Information About Foreign Objects near the

Installation Position of the Isolation Transformer

The purpose of this note is to provide information and warnings about the potential risks of

the operational integrity of an installed isolation transformer system. These risks are caused

by foreign objects in or near the isolation transformer and relevant auxiliary equipment or

components.
