1. I TRODUCTIO

Thank you for purchasing a Hyco Zen Boiling Water Tap. The Zen is a stylish,

modern, time and space saving addition to any kitchen replacing the need for

a traditional kettle, counter top or wall mounted boiling water unit.

Please note the Zen is a storage type heater - it cannot deliver a continuous

flow of hot water.

3. I STALLATIO OVERVEW

Figure 1 below shows the correct installation for models ZE 3LLT, ZE 3LHT,

ZE 3LLTP, ZE 3LHTP.

USE THE SUPPLIED EXPA SIO TA K, RELIEF VALVE, HOSES A D TAP.

ORDI ARY PARTS MAY OT TAKE THE HIGH TEMPERATURES WHICH

MAY CAUSE I JURY OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY.

THE PIPE WORK TO THE RELIEF VALVE SHOULD BE MADE WITH 15MM

COPPER PIPE WITH SOLDERED JOI TS.

4. PLUMBI G CO ECTIO S

Step 1 - Tank Positioning

Allow 20mm space around the tank to walls for cooling air circulation.

Position the tank vertically beneath the tap in a position such that the flexible hoses

can comfortably reach the tap and water supply.

E SURE THE FLEXIBLE HOSES DO OT TWIST OR KI K.

Step 2 - Tap Installation

Determine a convenient location to mount the tap. This can be an existing hole in the

sink top (if the sink is particularly thin the large black washer may be needed. The

washer should be placed on the underside of the sink.), or you may choose to drill

another hole (32mm diameter) either through the sink or the counter top.

The tap can be installed on to sink/counter top that is up to 50mm thick.

Place the tap into the hole ensuring the o ring is correctly seated in the

groove on the base of the tap.

While holding the base of the tap, tighten the clamping nut using a basin spanner.

This process is illustrated below.

Step 3 - Connect Tap to Tank

Fit the outlet flexible hose to the connection protruding from the base of the tap

using the supplied washer (white). Be careful not to strip or loosen the ends of the

copper pipe in the base of the tap.

Connect the other ends of the flexible hoses to the back of the heater using the pro-

vided washers.

The lead from the tap connects into the back of the unit just above the inlet and out-

let hoses.

Step 4 Connect to Water S pply

This product must be fitted with a relief valve. Figure 1 shows the recommended

installation. The pipe work to the relief valve should be made with 15mm copper pipe

with soldered joints. Once the installation has been completed as shown in figure 1,

the water can be turned on. Open the tap until water flows from the tap. Close the

tap and check the installation for leaks.

5. ELECTRICAL CO ECTIO

Plug unit into 13A switched mains socket ensuring the supply chord does not come in

contact with the flexible hoses or pipe work.

6.OPERATI G THE WATER HEATER A D TAP

USE OF THIS APPLIA CE I A SAFE WAY.

The unit will power up and begin to heat as soon as the power is turned on.

The status ring on the base of the tap will light up red or green depending on the

temperature of the water in the tank. Red status ring means the water is heating up

and a green status ring means the water is up to temperature and is ready for use.

To open the tap slide the safety catch away from the tap and rotate handle of the tap.

If the status light begins to flash red this means the temperature controller has

detected a fault.

The unit should be isolated from the power supply and the water supply shut off.

For pattern recognition

models (ZE 3LLTP, ZE 3LHTP),

the status ring may be green

and fade on and off slowly,

this indicates the heater

is in a predicted none use

period. To exit this mode

open the tap and allow

water to flow until the

status ring flashes green.

Then the heater will

recover back to boiling

shortly after.

7. DRAI I G

TEMPERATURES.

To drain:

• Disconnect from the electricity supply by unplugging the heater

• Open the tap until the water runs cold

• Isolate the water supply

• Disconnect the water pipes from the supply and tap.

• Unplug the tap connector lead from the back of the heater

• Pour the water out of the tank over a bucket or sink

• Turn the unit upside down and allow the water to flow out of the tap hose until

the flow stops.

To reassemble the heater, follow the installation instructions.

8. MAI TE A CE

THE RELIEVE VALVE MUST BE REGULARLY TESTED, TO DO THIS TWIST

THE RED CAP U TIL WATER FLOWS FROM THE VALVE. IF THE VALVE IS

SCALED UP IT MUST BE REPLACED.

THE SUPPLY CORD CA OT BE REPLACED BY THE USER. IF THE

CORD IS DAMAGED THE APPLIA CE SHOULD BE RETUR ED TO

THE MA UFACTURER OR A AUTHORISED SERVICE AGE T FOR

REPLACEME T.

OUT SUPERVISIO .

The tap and water tank can be cleaned with a lint free damp cloth. Do not use any

abrasive or caustic cleaning products as this will damage the surface of the product.
