When installing an IDEC Type EB3N Relay Barrier, make sure it conforms to the following rawings an escriptions
as well as all applicable requirements. ANSI/NFPA70.
・
This associate apparatus may also be connecte to simple apparatus as efine in Article 504.2 an
installe an temperature classifie in accor ance with Article 504.10(B) of the National Electrical Co e
(ANSI/NFPA 70), or other local co es, as applicable.
・
Capacitance an in uctance of the fiel wiring from the intrinsically safe equipment to the associate
apparatus shall be calculate an must be inclu e in the system calculations as shown in Note 2 of Table 2
below. Cable capacitance, Ccable, plus intrinsically safe equipment capacitance, Ci must be less than the
marke capacitance, Ca (or Co), shown on any associate apparatus use . The same applies for in uctance
(Lcable, Li an La or Lo, respectively). Where the cable capacitance an in uctance per foot are not known,
the following values shall be use : Ccable = 60 pF/ft., Lcable = 0.2 µH/ft.
・
Associate apparatus must be installe in an enclosure suitable for the application in accor ance with the
National Electrical Co e (ANSI/NFPA 70) for installation in the Unite States, the Cana ian Electrical
Co e for installations in Cana a, or other local co es, as applicable.
・
Where multiple circuits exten from the same piece of associate apparatus, they must be installe in
separate cables or in one cable having suitable insulation. Refer to Article 504.30(B) of the National
Electrical Co e (ANSI/NFPA 70) an Instrument Society of America Recommen e Practice ISA RP12.6 for
installing intrinsically safe equipment.
・
Intrinsically safe circuits must be wire an separate in accor ance with Article 504.20 of the National
Electrical Co e (ANSI/NFPA 70) or other local co es, as applicable.
・
This associate apparatus has not been evaluate for use in combination with another associate
apparatus.
・
Control equipment must not use or generate more than 120 V rms or c with respect to earth.
・
For installations in which both the Ci an Li of the intrinsically safe apparatus excee s 1% of the Co an Lo
parameters of the associate apparatus (exclu ing the cable), then 50% of Co an Lo parameters are
applicable an shall not be excee e .

・Servicing – Replacement and Repairs
:
: :
:
Inspection an replacement of the Relay Barriers shall not be ma e until
power is isconnecte an shall not be connecte again until all replacement Relay Barriers are properly re-assemble .
All electrical components, inclu ing the interconnecting wiring, shall be kept in safe con ition. Defective Relay Barriers
shoul be returne to the factory for repair.
WARNING : Substitution of components or unauthorize repair may impair intrinsic safety of apparatus.
AVERTISSEMENT : La substitution e composants peut compromettre la sécurité intrinsèque e l’appareil.
・
・・
・Mounting
:
All bolts, nuts, screws, an other means of fastening, inclu ing the unuse wiring screws, shall be
fastene in place, properly tightene an secure . Mount the Relay Barrier on a 35mm track or irectly mount on a
panel surface using screws.
