Play it Safe
We all know it’s better to be safe than sorry, so have a read of the BoB2™ handset safety precautions before
you get started:
• Only use the supplied charging cradle and power adapter
• It’s important that you only use the recommended rechargeable batteries. Avoid using conventional non-
rechargeable batteries as this can pose health risks and cause personal injury.
• The operation of medical appliances may be affected. Be aware of the technical conditions in your
environment.
• Do not hold the rear of your handset to your ear when it is ringing or when the loudspeaker function is
activated. This can cause serious or permanent damage to your hearing. Please note: the handset may
cause a humming noise in some hearing aids.
• The handset and its charging cradle are not splash-proof, so it’s best not to leave it near any taps or sinks.
• Do not use your phone in environments with a potential explosion hazard (e.g. a paint shop).
• If you give your BoB2™ handset to someone else, give them this manual and ensure you return the
handset to factory default settings.

Powering up

To open the battery cover, apply slight pressure and then slide the cover towards the base of the handset.
1. Insert the batteries as indicated by the symbols in the battery compartment.
2. To close the battery cover, align the two clips with the grooves then slide the cover upwards.
3. You will hear a click as the cover locks into place.

above process if you replace the batteries.
Getting started with your BoB2™ handset

Turning your BoB2™ handset on and off
When your BoB2™ handset is in idle status (that means there’s no call in progress), press and hold the end call
key to switch it off. When the handset is off, repeat the same step until the display screen lights up to turn it
back on again.
Please note that you’ll need to reset the time and date on your BoB2™ handset whenever you turn it off.
Setting the time and date
Hey BoB2™, what’s the time? Setting the time and date on your BoB2™ handset lets you know when your
calls come in, and it means you can make use of the alarm feature.
1. Press the display key below ‘Time’ at the bottom of the screen to open the time and date settings.
2. Enter the day, month and year as a six digit number using the keypad (DDMMYY). For example, you’d enter
260114 for the 26th of January, 2014.
3. Using the arrow buttons on the control key, scroll down to select the ‘Time’ option. Using the keypad,
enter the hour and minutes as a four digit number in 2400 time (HH MM). For example, you’d enter 1915
for 07:15PM.
4. To finish, press the display key below ‘Save’ at the bottom of the screen.

Registering your BoB2™ handset
On the BoB2™ handset
After you’ve powered it up, your BoB2™ handset screen may begin flashing
with the message ‘Please register’. If it does, follow the simple steps
below. You usually need to register any additional BoB2™ handsets you
have purchased.
1. Press on the right side of the control key as shown to bring up the main
menu.
2. Scroll down to ‘Settings’ using the control key and press the display
button below ‘OK’.
3. In this menu, scroll down to the ‘Handset’ option and press ‘OK’.
4. Scroll down again until you hit ‘Register H/Set’, then press ‘OK’.
5. Using the keypad, enter the handset PIN number (the default is 0000)
and press ‘OK’. .
6. You’ll see a message on the display screen that reads ‘Regstr.Procedure
Base 1’. You can then complete the final step below.
On the BoB2™ modem
Within 60 seconds of completing the above steps, press and hold the
centre button of the back of BoB2™ for about three seconds. It’s the one
labelled ‘add extra h/set’.
Following successful registration, the handset will display ‘Base 1’ on the
screen. If you don’t see this message on the display screen, repeat the
above steps.

Setting up your Netphone VoIP service
If you’re using the BoB2™ handset for your standard phone service, you just need to make sure you have the
cables plugged in as shown on page 7 in the BoB2™ Quick Start Guide.
However, if you have a Netphone or iiTalk VoIP service to make calls over the internet, you’ll need to put
your VoIP number and password into your BoB2™ settings. You can find out how to do that on page 28 in the
BoB2™ Quick Start Guide.
The best of both worlds
If you have both types of phone services, don’t worry! BoB2™ can receive calls made to both your home
phone and your Netphone numbers.
As long as your internet connection is working, your outgoing calls will be made using your cheaper
Netphone VoIP service. A warning message will play if the outgoing call can’t be made on your Netphone VoIP
– this will stop you from accidentally calling overseas numbers at full price!
Keen to use a headset?
The BoB2™ handset is compatible with a headset. We recommend the M214C Plantronics Cordless Phone
Headset, which is available from most leading retailers.
You can plug your headset in at the base of the BoB2™ handset.
