as a completelyasse bled microcomputer chassis.It

consists of a po er supply, a four slot card-

cage/backplane, du I fans, anda frontpanel.This

chapter providesaleneral descriptionof the chassis

in addition to a spec fications table.

1-2. CHASSIS DESCRIPTION

The iSBC

655

System Chassisis designedto be rack

mounted, using RItTMA compatible components.

The 19 inch front J1lanelhas the following switches

and indicators:aporer ON/OFF indicator switch; a

RESET switch; an NTERRUPT switch;a RUN in-

dicator; and a HA T indicator. The rear panel is

easily removed for q ick access to the cardcage.

The two cooling fans are located on the left side of

the chassis, one directed toward thepowersupply

and the other directed toward the cardcage. These

fans supply adequate ventilation to keep the fully

loaded chassiswithin temperaturetolerance «55°C).

The chassisutilizesthe iSBC604 Cardcage-

Backplane for housing a maximum of four Intel

iSBC compatible boards. The backplanemay be ex-

tended to additional external cardcages or monitored

through a Multibus plug located on thebackplane.

Thef lowing equipment is suppliedwith the iSBC

655 Sytern Chassis: front panelwith switches and in-

dicators, two fans, power supply, cardcage-

backplane, fuse, line filter,115 Vacpower cord, and

one 25 inch RS232 I/O cable.

All rack mounting hardware isuser supplied.

Chapter 2describes proceduresfor mountingand

lists recommended parts.If the chassisisoptioned

for 230volt operation,thepower cordis not sup-

plied. Any I/Ocables, with the exception of the

RS232 cable described in section 1-4, arealso user

furnished. The hardware referencemanual for each

iSBCboard will provide a table of compatible I/O

connectors recommended byIntel (not all boardsre-

quire I/Ocables, however).

Specifications of the iSBC655 SystemChassis are

listed in table 1-1.
