The equipment descri ed in this document uses a Class 2 laser. Under no account should
anyone look directly into the laser eam or the laser eam exit aperture, irreversi le damage

3. Getting started.
a) Switching the camera on/off

W en focusing a focus bar appears on t e screen to assist in focusing t e image. It
indicates t e approximate distance in metres (in feet w en °F is selected ) of a focussed
target from t e camera.

Gently rotate t e lens clockwise and
anti-clockwise to focus t e image.
♦Remember to remove the lens cap.
T e camera’s built in battery is c arged via
t e c arging port. A fully c arged battery
will last approximately 6 ours. A red LED
indicates c arging w ic turns to green
w en t e battery is c arged.
Note: When the camera
is connected to a PC via
the USB cable the camera
will charge but extremely
slowly.

Hotkey uttons
T e Hotkey functions are indicated by t e icons or text displayed on t e screen above t em.
T ese functions vary according to t e operating options c osen by t e user. A yellow box
around t e icon for Hotkey1 or Hotkey2 indicates t at t is option is selected and t is defines
t e operation of t e navigation and toggle buttons. In normal imaging mode, Hotkey 3 may
be used to freeze t e image; pressing it again returns t e camera to live operation. Hotkey 4
is used to enter and exit t e menu. See appendix A2 for a full icon list.
d) Menu
T e Menu is selected by Hotkey 4. Use t e Navigation buttons to move around and use
Hotkey 3 to select a menu function. Full details of menus in section 5.
e) Saving an image
To save a live or frozen image, press t e Save button once. If Caption Mode or Voice
Annotation as been turned on, a text caption or voice annotation can be attac ed to t e
image (see section 6). Please note t at Hotkey 3 can be used to toggle between a live image
and a frozen image.

f) Temperature measurement
Temperature readings are displayed at t e top of t e display. In t e default mode, a single
temperature in °C is of t e centre point of t e cursor. T e ot er readings at t e top of t e
display are emissivity settings and reflected temperature setting. Two cursors or a
measurement area can be selected from t e measurement options menu (see section 5).
T e temperature range wit in t e scene is indicated by a scale on t e rig t and side of
t e display.
4. Thermal and visi le image lending
T e camera can s ow a t ermal image or a visible image of t e scene, or a mixed blend of
bot .
1. Press Hotkey 2 until t e Visible On/Off icon appears
2. If off press t e centre toggle button to toggle to Visible On .
3. Use eit er t e up/down, or left/rig t navigation buttons to merge
(blend) t e visible and t ermal images. Blend options are 0%, 25%, 50%
75% and 100%.

Image alignment
As t e visible and t ermal camera are not co-axial t e visible and t ermal image often need to
be aligned. T is is usually required w en moving to view objects at different distances.
1. Press Hotkey 2 to toggle t roug to t e Visible On/Off icon . If
off toggle t e centre button to turn t e visible option on .
2. Press Hotkey 1 to toggle t roug to t e alignment option .
3. Use t e up/down and left/rig t navigation buttons to align t e t ermal
and visible images.
4. T e alignment facility is only available w en t e camera is on and in live
mode.
♦Note the visual image is moved during alignment.

5. Four pre-programmed alignment distances are included. T ese are at 0.5m,
1m, 2m and 4m ranges. Wit t e alignment option selected by HK1, pressing
t e toggle button once aligns at 2 metres. Pressing t e toggle button again
allows you to cycle t roug to 4m, 0.5m and 1m. T ese values appear in
feet if °F is selected.

5. Menu structure.
a) Select t e menu by pressing Hotkey 4 .
b) Navigate t roug t e menu using t e navigation buttons and press Hotkey 3
to select t e required option. T e ig lig ted item will ave a yellow box
around it.
c) Use t e up/down buttons to move in t e selected list and select t e required
item.
d) Use t e left/rig t buttons to c ange values and options for t e specific item.
e) Press Hotkey 4 to exit or Hotkey 1 to go back to t e previous menu.

♦Emissivity
Set emissivity value between 0.10 and 1.00 for measuring temperature.
Pressing Hotkey 3 (ε Table) gives a table of emissivity values of common materials
from w ic a selection can be made.
♦Palette
Display in image using different colour palettes.

♦Reflected Temp
Usually set to t e ambient temperature.
Applies only w en emissivity of less t an 1 is selected.

♦Integration
C ose an integration period from 1 (fast) to 9 (slow).
T is determines t e trade off between display speed and noise.
♦Interpolation
C oose Off or On.
