Relocating the Printer
How do I relocate my printer?
Occasionally, you may have to move your printer to a different location, either

you to carefully follow the instructions below.
1Make sure you have turned off the printer and unplugged the power
supply cord and interface cable(s).
2Change the waste toner box (see “Preparing the Printer for Shipment” on
page 3).
3If the printer has accessories, such as a duplex unit kit or lower feeder
unit(s), remove them (see “Preparing the Printer for Shipment” on page
3).

6Protect the printer from extremes in temperature and humidity, and from
dust.
How do I care for media?
If media has been removed from its wrapper, place it in its original packaging
and store it in a cool, dark place.
When storing media, avoid:
Moisture and excess humidity
Keep media between 30% to 65% relative humidity. Toner does not
adhere well to moist or wet paper. On the other hand, media that has
been stored for a long time out of its packaging may dry up too much and
cause jamming.
Direct sunlight
Excess heat (above 86 °F/30 °C)
Dust
Leaning it against other objects or placing it in an upright position

tool into the wire lock.
When the wire-releasing tool is
inserted, the wire is unhooked and
wound up in the duplex unit with a
spring-like force.
11 With the right-side door still open, open
the cover of the duplex unit.

wire locks again. Be sure to hold the
right-side door open with your left
hand while performing the following
steps.
12 Lift up the duplex-unit-locking hook
on the inside of the right-side door,
and then slowly open the duplex unit
about 1.2" (30 mm).

After the duplex-unit-locking hook
is lifted up, the duplex unit is
unlocked. Support the duplex unit
so that it does not fall.

13 With the duplex unit cover open, close just
the right-side door.
Attention
If the right-side door is also closed when the duplex unit cover is
closed, the wire locks again.

hands to remove it.
