Preface to the operating manual

Preface This operating manual is designed to make it easy to familiarise yourself

with the machine and use it for its intended purpose.

The operating manual contains important information on how to operate

the machine safely, properly and economically. Compliance with it will

help to avoid dangers, repair costs and downtimes and increase the

reliability and service life of the machine.

The operating manual must be supplemented with instructions based on

current national regulations for accident prevention and environmental

protection.

The operating manual must be available at the location of the machine at

all times.

The operating manual must be read and used by everybody who

undertakes work on the machine, for example:

Operation, including setting, troubleshooting whilst operating,

removal of production waste, care, disposal of media and

consumables

Maintenance (servicing, inspection and repair) and/or

Transport

In addition to the operating manual and the binding regulations for accident

prevention which apply in the user’s country and at the place of use, the

acknowledged technical rules for safe and correct working practice must als

be observed.

1.1.3 Saw blades

1.7.1

Use the special LISSMAC diamond saw blade for dry cuts on the

masonry saw only.

A sales list of saw blades can be requested from LISSMAC.

Do not cut with toothed saw blades.

The saw blades require a statement of direction of rotation.

Saw blade diameter, saw blade speed and mounting diameter need to

be matched to the machine (see section 2.3).

Do not use damaged saw blades

1.2 Principle of intended use

1.2.1 The masonry saw is exclusively designed for the dry cutting of large-sized

building blocks made of mineral materials. Use only building blocks that are

not suitable for cutting in wet process.

Please note that Poroton and vertical coring bricks can differ from the

composition and the bulk density (hardness), depending on the

manufacturer. The wear on the saw blade is too heavy with the use of hard

Poroton and vertical coring bricks and is therefore not recommended.

The operation of the masonry saw is only permitted with the use of a

corresponding dust extraction system. The dust extraction system used for

cutting the building blocks must also be permitted.

The cutting of wood, metal, plastics or other types of stone is not

allowed!

The manufacturer/supplier cannot accept any liability for damage caused by

unintended use.

Intended use also includes compliance with the operating manual and

compliance with the inspection and maintenance requirements.

1.2.2

The machine must only be used if it is in technically perfect condition and for its

intended use, with an awareness of safety and potential dangers and as set out

the operating manual! In particular, faults which may adversely affect its safety

must be rectified immediately.

1.2.3

This masonry saw is only safe

if it is used with saw blades, designed for this machine

(see 1.1.3 and 2.3).

7/28

1.3 Organisational action

1.3.1

Always keep the operating manual at hand at the location of the machine!

1.3.2

Supplements to the operating manual include general statutory and other

binding regulations for preventing accidents and protecting the environment

and must be obeyed!

These duties may also relate, for example, to handling hazardous

substances or wearing personal protective equipment or road traffic

regulations.

1.3.3 The personnel entrusted with the work must have read the operating manual,

particularly the section entitled “Safety information” before starting work. It is

too late to do so during work. This particularly applies to personnel who only

work on the machine occasionally, for example setting and maintenance

personnel.

1.3.4

Occasionally check that the procedures used by the personnel are safe and

show an awareness of the dangers and that they are following the

instructions in the operating manual!

1.3.5

Use personal protective equipment where necessary or if required by

regulations!

1.3.6

Obey all safety information and warnings on the machine!

(See section 1.1.2).

1.3.7

Keep all safety information and warnings on the machine in completely legible

condition (see section 1.1.2)!

1.3.8

In the event of any safety-relevant changes to the machine or the way in which

is operating, shut down the machine immediately and report any fault to the

relevant department/person!

1.3.9

Do not carry out any modifications, additions or conversions to the machine

without the consent of the supplier!

01/03/2

010

Only use genuine spare parts from the manufacturer!

01/03/2

011

Keep to the mandatory intervals for inspections of those set out in the operating

manual (see section 7)!

01/03/2

012

The machine must be cleaned thoroughly before the inspection.

01/03/2

013

The mains plug must be removed from the power supply before starting any

maintenance or repair work.

8/28

1.4 Personnel selection and qualifications; general duties

1.4.1

Only personnel over the age of 18 may be allowed to operate the machine

independently and who received training in how to operate the machine.

1.4.2

The unauthorised presence of persons in the area of movement of the

machine is prohibited!

1.4.3

The operators must take care not to endanger themselves or other persons

during any movements of the machine.
