wireontoit. Attachthein-linefuseholdertothe
redleadas close tothepower
sourceas possible..
Forexample, ifyou
have
toextendthe
power
cabletothe
battery
orpowerbuss;
attach one
end ofthe fuseholderdirectly
tothebattery
orpowerbuss: This will
protect
boththeunitandthepower
cableintheevent ofashort.
The
powercablehas
three
wires,red,white,andblack. Redisthe
positive
lead, blackisnegative
orground. ThewhitewireisusedfortheNMEA
interface.To
usethis
feature,
attacha
shielded,twisted
paircable
fromthe
autopilot or
othermarineequipment's NMEAinterfaceto
thewhitewireon
the[MS-i
50'spowercable. Solder
thetwisted pairsgroundwire and
shield wire to theblackwire ontheLMS-i50's powercable. Do not
connecttheshield wiretotheautopilot. See
yourautopilot's manual for
more
instructions. If
you're
not
going
tousethisfeature, cut
ancitape
the
whitewiretoprevent
ashort.
The[MS-i50hasreverse
polarityprotection. No
damagewill dccurtothe
unitifthe
power
wiresarehooked upbackwards. However,itwon'twork
untilthe
wiringisconnected
properly.
Minimize electrical noiseby routing
thepower cable away from other
possible sources of electrical interference. Oneofthelargest noise
generators istheengine'swiring harness. For.best results, keepthe
powerand transducercables away
fromtheengine wiring.
Attachthespeed/temp sensor's and loran module's cabletothe[MS-
150'spower
cable. Tagsonthecables identify boththe loran and the
speed/temperature sensor's connector.
INSTALLATION
-LC-1 Loran-C MODULE
When choosinga mountinglocation, remember to installthe E[C-1
whereit's clearofotherantennas, wires, masts, orotherobstructions.
A high location is preferred, howeverforlightning protection, thean-
tennashouldn't bethehighestpartoftheboat. Theantennashouldbe
mountedvertically. Makecertain itisasfaraway
aspossible
fromVHF
radio antennas.
