Step 1: Location
Identify the best location allowing for maximum sun
exposure. Location should be well ventilated. Keep
away from hazards such as campres, ammables,
high trac areas, etc. The cable from the solar panel
to the battery should not cross walkways, vehicle
roads or access ways or be permanently immersed
in water.
Step 2: Set-Up
1. Remove the cover from the solar panel.
2. Open the folding panels and fold out the
support legs.
3. Adjust the legs to provide the desired angle
and the direction that allow maximum sun
exposure.
Step 3: Connect Panels to Battery
The panel has the controller mounted on the back
and is already connected.
The controller has a 5m cable with an Anderson
Plug at the end.
You may connect the Anderson Plug directly into
your input circuit (if you have the appropriate
Anderson Plug input), or if not, can attach the
supplied Anderson Plug to Alligator Clip adaptor in
order to connect to your battery. When connecting
the Alligator Clips to the battery be sure to connect
the correct polarity (The positive red clamp to the
positive battery pole, the negative black clamp to
the negative battery pole). e.
• Connecting the clamps in reverse polarity may cause irreparable damage to the controller and/or panel.
• Anderson Plugs do not have a male / female connector. A pair of plugs clip together by rotating one upside down.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Solar Panel work?
The solar panel converts sunlight energy into DC electric
power and can charge a
rechargeable battery which suppliers power to operate
the appliance load. Daytime charging stores power in the
battery for day and night time use.
I just opened the box and found lights ashing on the
regulator. Is my item faulty?
No, this is not an indication that the item is faulty. This kit
will includes a SMART regulator which is always looking
for the type of battery connected. Simply connect this to
your battery to start charging.
I tested the output with a Voltmeter / Multimeter. The
ouput Voltage and Amps are either zero, or uctuating.
If you suspect a fault, contact technical support for
further assistance. Refrain from testing with a Volmeter /
Multimeter. The SMART regulator is looking for a battery
connection and will not provide the correct output if
simply connecting to a testing device.
I have connected the panel to a battery but the battery is
still not charging?
When the solar panel kit is rst connected to a battery
and exposed to the sun, the charge controller must
undertake a self-check program to ensure that it is
operating correctly. This program will take up to 3
minutes to complete and during this time the LEDs on the
charge controller will vary in display. Once the self-check
is completed, the system will engage and commence the
charging process.
Can I leave the Solar Panel out in the rain?
Yes, it is safe to leave it out in the rain, however do not
leave a battery, inverter or appliance out in the rain as
there is risk of electric shock.
Will I get the full specication output of the panel all the
time?
No, the output which can be achieved from the panel is
highly dependent on the UV index at the time of day and
your physical location geographically.
How many Solar Panels will it take to run my…?
As a general rule, a user should establish the total Amps
required to run the appliances per hour and multiply
them by the expected consumption hours. The suitable
solar panel would be one that can replenish the same
amount of Amps used.
How much battery capacity is required?
This depends on how many Amps your appliances draw
and how many hours they are run for. Therefore, your
battery requirements can vary a lot and you should seek
further advice before making a decision. A very typical
battery capacity purchased for camping is 100 Amp
hours.
