WaterWear for BTE

WaterWear for BTE (hereafter referred to as WaterWear) is not an accessory
for the SONNET series or OPUS audio processor (hereafter referred to as
audio processor), but provides optional dust and water protection according
to class IP (tested for hours at a water depth of meters (ft)). Please
observe the limitations and conditions stated below when using WaterWear.
Each WaterWear may be used up to times. Do not wear or immerse in
water for more than hours at a time. Use a new adhesive strip for each
application.
Please read these instructions carefully and follow the recommendations.
Improper use may cause humidity or dust to migrate into WaterWear and
damage the audio processor.
Instructions for use
Clean and thoroughly dry your hands before handling WaterWear. You should
not use hand cream or lotion. Make sure the inside of WaterWear is dry and
clean and check for damage. Never use a damaged WaterWear! Switch on
the audio processor.
. Insert the coil into WaterWear, sliding it carefully into the exible sleeve
without damaging the cable. Make sure that the coil cable is fully inserted
in the sleeve and remains attached to the coil. Important: WaterWear can
be worn on the left and right side of the head. Do not worry about correct
orientation when inserting the coil as the coil can easily be turned inside
WaterWear.
. Hold the battery pack between thumb and forenger and insert the
earhook into WaterWear until it sits tightly in the tip.
. Hold the control unit with one hand. With the other hand hold WaterWear
between thumb and forenger and pull it over the battery pack. WaterWear
will t tightly, so you will feel resistance when pulling it over the battery
pack. Do not pull at the semi-circular tab (additional xation option, easily
recognizable by its xation hole).
. Pull WaterWear over the entire audio processor. Avoid crinkling the edges
of the opening. To avoid tension on the coil cable, make sure that the coil
cable is not twisted inside WaterWear.
. Before attaching the adhesive strip, make sure that the strip and the
gluing surfaces of the audio processor and WaterWear are dry and dust-free.
Remove the adhesive strip from the protective cardboard and stick it to the
WaterWear opening. Start applying the adhesive strip at the bottom of the
battery pack but do not yet seal it completely. Place the ngers of your free
hand over the coil cable to press out any remaining air. Make sure that there
is no excess air in WaterWear to avoid bulging. Press down rmly along the
adhesive section. To provide protection against water and dust, the adhesive
strip must completely adhere to all edges of the WaterWear opening. The
adhesive strip must fully cover the reinforcement foil at the opening of
WaterWear and must not be offset or misaligned. The adhesive strip is
considered misaligned or not properly applied if the complete overlap
between adhesive strip and reinforcement foil is less than mm
(.in.) on each side of the reinforcement foil. Check again if WaterWear
is still undamaged.
. Position the audio processor with WaterWear behind your ear over the
implant. To avoid losing the processor, we strongly recommend using ad-
ditional xation (e.g. bathing cap).
. To remove the audio processor from WaterWear, carefully pull at the ad-
ditional ap of the adhesive strip. Remove and discard the adhesive strip.
. Use your thumb and forenger to hold WaterWear and pull it over the end
of the battery pack to remove the audio processor.
Warnings and limitations
• Cochlear implant users of all ages may use WaterWear. WaterWear shall
only be applied and removed by persons over years to ensure correct
application and to avoid swallowing WaterWear and/or the adhesive strips.
Children shall use WaterWear only under adult supervision.
• Keep WaterWear and the adhesive strips out of the reach of children.
• WaterWear must not be used if the user is known to be intolerant of the
materials used in WaterWear (WaterWear: Thermoplastic Polyurethane
Elastomere TPE-U, Adhesive strip: Polymeric Vinyl).
• Acoustic performance of the cochlear implant may be slightly reduced by
WaterWear.
• WaterWear will protect the audio processor only when used properly. Any
deviation from the described procedure may damage the audio processor.
• When opting to use the audio processor with WaterWear, use only alkaline,
silver-oxide or rechargeable batteriesrecommended by MED-EL instead
of zinc-air batteries. Zinc-air batteries require air supply which cannot be
provided when using WaterWear.
• The design of WaterWear is optimized for use with coil cable lengths of
up to .cm (.in). Longer coil cables may prevent correct application of
WaterWear and cause ingress of water and/or dust.
• WaterWear can only be used with the standard battery pack covers. Do
not use WaterWear with smaller battery pack covers (e.g. OPUS XS or
SONNET battery pack cover Micro).
• WaterWear cannot be used with the FM battery pack cover. Use the stand-
ard battery pack cover instead of the FM battery pack cover.
• If you have a SONNET series audio processor, we recommend using the mi-
crophone in omnidirectional mode. With Natural or Adaptive directionality,
directional hearing may be impaired by WaterWear.
• If you have a SONNET series EAS audio processor, you should replace the
SONNET EAS earhook with the standard earhook (see the applicable audio
processor user manual). If you are using an earmould with your audio pro-
cessor, you should remove the earmould. Otherwise WaterWear cannot be
applied.
• The environmental conditions of the audio processor apply when using the
audio processor with WaterWear (see your audio processor user manual).
The operating temperature range is °C (+ °F) to + °C (+ °F).
Normally, when the audio processor is worn on the body, natural body heat
helps maintain this temperature range. Do not leave the audio processor
with WaterWear assembled in direct sunlight (particularly inside a car).
• The adhesive strip should only be attached within a temperature range of
+°C (+°F) to +°C (+°F). Do not assemble WaterWear under devi-
ating conditions.
• Do not store WaterWear in direct sunlight as this can degrade the material
and potentially impair its function. MED-EL recommends storing WaterWear
in its protective packaging until use.
• The shelf life of the adhesive strip is years.
• WaterWear should only be used when protection against excessive humid-
ity is desired (e.g. when swimming).
• WaterWear is designed to withstand common substances associated with
sports activities and swimming (like chlorinated or salt water) and against
common cosmetic substances (like mild soap, sunscreen or similar). It is
not designed to withstand chemicals in general (i.e. acetone or % etha-
nol). Such substances can damage and destroy WaterWear.
• To prevent losing the audio processor, additional xation (e.g. bathing cap)
is strongly recommended. Avoid subjecting WaterWear directly to strong
water currents.
• Using xations or sharp objects and materials which can scratch, cut or
tear WaterWear may also damage the audio processor. Avoid damaging
WaterWear with your ngernails.
• Follow the instructions below to remove the audio processor from
WaterWear. Do not use sharp objects as this may damage the audio pro-
cessor.
• Condensation can build up inside WaterWear when swimming. This is
normal and due to the water being cooler than the air inside the cover. If
condensation occurs, remove your audio processor and dry it off with a
soft cloth after swimming.
• After using the audio processor with WaterWear it is recommended to dry
the audio processor with the supplied drying kit (see your audio processor
user manual).
• To protect the environment, make sure to properly dispose of WaterWear
after use.
MED-EL’s warranty for WaterWear is in compliance with and limited by com-
pulsory statutory warranty provisions. Warranty shall be granted for material
and manufacturing aws; it shall not apply for damages caused by accidents,
negligence, normal wear, inappropriate care or non-compliance with the
warnings and instructions for use stated in this document. This warranty
does not cover the audio processor stored in WaterWear. MED-EL shall not
assume any liability for repair costs, replacement of the audio processor or
any indirect consequential damage from use of WaterWear. If you experience
problems with your audio processor after using WaterWear, please include
the respective WaterWear with the audio processer that is returned for
evaluation.

WaterWear für HdO (im Folgenden WaterWear genannt) ist kein Zubehör-

Gebrauchsanweisung
Reinigen und trocknen Sie Ihre Hände gründlich, bevor Sie WaterWear
verwenden. Sie sollten keine Handcreme oder Lotion verwenden. Stellen
Sie sicher, dass WaterWear trocken, sauber und unbeschädigt ist.
Verwenden Sie niemals ein beschädigtes WaterWear! Schalten Sie den
Audioprozessor ein.
. Führen Sie die Spule in WaterWear ein. Schieben Sie sie vorsichtig in
die exible Hülle, ohne das Kabel zu beschädigen. Das Spulenkabel muss
vollständig in der Hülle sein und darf sich nicht von der Spule lösen.
Wichtig: WaterWear kann links und rechts am Kopf getragen werden. Beim
Einschieben der Spule müssen Sie daher nicht auf die richtige Ausrichtung
achten, da die Spule in WaterWear leicht gedreht werden kann.
. Halten Sie das Batterieteil zwischen Daumen und Zeigenger und schie-
ben Sie den Ohrhaken in WaterWear, bis er fest in der Spitze sitzt.
. Halten Sie das Prozessorteil mit einer Hand. Halten Sie mit der anderen
Hand WaterWear zwischen Daumen und Zeigenger und ziehen Sie es
über das Batterieteil. WaterWear sitzt sehr fest, es kann daher Widerstand
spürbar sein, wenn Sie es über das Batterieteil ziehen. Ziehen Sie nicht an
der halbrunden Lasche (zusätzliche Fixiermöglichkeit; leicht erkennbar an
der Fixieröffnung).
. Ziehen Sie WaterWear ganz über den Audioprozessor. Vermeiden Sie
Falten am Rand der Öffnung. Das Spulenkabel in WaterWear darf nicht
verdreht sein, um Spannungen am Spulenkabel zu vermeiden.
. Achten Sie vor dem Anbringen des Verklebungsstreifens darauf, dass die-
ser und die Verklebungsstellen von Audioprozessor und WaterWear trocken
und staubfrei sind. Ziehen Sie den Verklebungsstreifen vom Schutzkarton
ab und verkleben Sie mit ihm die Öffnung des WaterWear. Beginnen
Sie mit dem Verkleben des Verklebungsstreifens an der Unterseite des
Batterieteils, aber verkleben Sie ihn noch nicht vollständig. Legen Sie die
Finger Ihrer freien Hand auf das Spulenkabel und drücken Sie die Restluft
heraus, um Ausbuchtungen des WaterWear durch überschüssige Luft zu
vermeiden. Drücken Sie nun fest entlang der Verklebung. Für den Wasser-
und Staubschutz muss der Verklebungsstreifen mit allen Rändern der
Öffnung von WaterWear vollständig verklebt sein. Der Verklebungsstreifen
muss die Verstärkungsfolie an der Öffnung von WaterWear voll-
ständig abdecken und darf nicht schief oder versetzt sein. Der
Verklebungsstreifen ist schief bzw. nicht richtig angebracht, wenn
die Überlappung zwischen Verklebungsstreifen und Verstärkungsfolie
weniger als mm Überstand an allen Seiten der Verstärkungsfolie
hat. Überprüfen Sie erneut, ob WaterWear unbeschädigt ist.
. Positionieren Sie den Audioprozessor mit WaterWear hinter dem Ohr über
dem Implantat. Um den Verlust des Audioprozessors zu vermeiden, wird
eine zusätzliche Fixierung ausdrücklich empfohlen (z.B. Badekappe).
. Um den Audioprozessor aus WaterWear zu entnehmen, ziehen Sie vor-
sichtig an der zusätzlichen Lasche des Verklebungsstreifens. Entfernen und
entsorgen Sie den Verklebungsstreifen.
. Halten Sie WaterWear zwischen Daumen und Zeigenger und ziehen Sie
es über das Ende des Batterieteils, um den Audioprozessor zu entnehmen.
Warnungen und Einschränkungen
• Cochlea-Implantat-Nutzer aller Altersstufen können WaterWear verwen-
den. WaterWear darf nur von Personen über Jahren angebracht und
entfernt werden, um eine richtige Anwendung zu gewährleisten und ein
Verschlucken des WaterWear bzw. der Verklebungsstreifen zu vermeiden.
Kinder dürfen WaterWear nur unter Aufsicht Erwachsener verwenden.
• Bewahren Sie WaterWear und Verklebungsstreifen außerhalb der
Reichweite von Kindern auf.
• Nutzer mit einer bekannten Unverträglichkeit gegenüber den in
WaterWear verwendeten Materialien (WaterWear: thermoplastisches
Polyurethanelastomer TPE-U, Verklebungsstreifen: polymeres Vinyl)
dürfenWaterWear nicht verwenden.
• Die akustische Leistung des Cochlea-Implantats kann durch WaterWear
leicht eingeschränkt werden.
• WaterWear schützt den Audioprozessor nur bei richtiger Anwendung.
Jede Abweichung von der beschriebenen Handhabung kann den
Audioprozessor beschädigen.
• Benutzen Sie bei der Verwendung des Audioprozessors mit WaterWear
ausschließlich die von MED-EL empfohlenen Alkali-, Silberoxid- oder
wieder auadbaren Batterienanstelle von Zink-Luft-Batterien. Die für
Zink-Luft-Batterien benötigte Luftzufuhr ist durch WaterWear nicht
gewährleistet.
• WaterWear ist für Spulenkabel bis zu ,cm optimiert. Längere Spulen-
kabel können die richtige Anwendung von WaterWear verhindern und
Wasser oder Staub kann eindringen.
• WaterWear kann nur mit der Standardbatterieteilhülse verwendet werden.
WaterWear kann nicht mit kleineren Batterieteilhülsen (z.B. OPUS XS
oder SONNET Micro-Batterieteilhülse) verwendet werden.
• WaterWear kann nicht mit der FM Batterieteilhülse verwendet werden.
Verwenden Sie die Standardbatterieteilhülse anstelle der FM Batterie-
teilhülse.
• Bei Audioprozessoren der SONNET Reihe sollten Sie das Mikrofon im
omnidirektionalen Modus verwenden. Bei natürlicher oder adaptiver
Direktionalität kann das Hören durch WaterWear beeinträchtigt werden.
• Ersetzen Sie bei Audioprozessoren der SONNET Reihe EAS den SONNET
EAS Ohrhaken durch den Standardohrhaken (siehe entsprechendes
Audioprozessor-Benutzerhandbuch). Entfernen Sie das Ohrpassstück,
falls Sie ein solches mit dem Audioprozessor verwenden. Sonst kann
WaterWear nicht angebracht werden.
• Es gelten die für den Audioprozessor zutreffenden Umweltbedingungen,
wenn Sie den Audioprozessor mit WaterWear verwenden (siehe Audio-
prozessor-Benutzerhandbuch). Der Betriebstemperaturbereich beträgt
°C bis +°C. Wird der Audioprozessor direkt am Körper getragen,
wird dieser Temperaturbereich in der Regel eingehalten. Lassen Sie den
Audioprozessor mit WaterWear nie direkt in der Sonne liegen (besonders
im Auto).
• Bringen Sie den Verklebungsstreifen nur bei Temperaturen zwischen
+°C und +°C an. Versuchen Sie nicht, WaterWear bei abweichenden
Bedingungen zusammenzusetzen.
• Bewahren Sie WaterWear nicht in direktem Sonnenlicht auf, da dies
das Material schädigen und die Funktion beeinträchtigen kann. MED-EL
empehlt WaterWear bis zur Verwendung in der Schutzverpackung
aufzubewahren.
• Die Lebensdauer der Verklebungsstreifen beträgt Jahre.
• WaterWear sollte ausschließlich dann verwendet werden, wenn Schutz vor
übermäßiger Feuchtigkeit erwünscht ist (z.B. beim Schwimmen).
• WaterWear ist widerstandsfähig gegenüber beim Sport und Schwimmen
üblicherweise verwendeten Substanzen (z.B. Chlor- bzw. Salzwasser)
sowie üblichen Kosmetika (z.B. milde Seife, Sonnencreme und der-
gleichen). Es ist nicht widerstandsfähig gegenüber Chemikalien im
Allgemeinen (z.B. Aceton oder % Ethanol). Diese Substanzen können
WaterWear beschädigen oder zerstören.
• Um den Verlust des Audioprozessors zu vermeiden, wird eine zusätzliche
Fixierung ausdrücklich empfohlen (z.B. Badekappe). WaterWear darf
starken Wasserströmungen nicht direkt ausgesetzt werden.
• Verwenden Sie keine Fixierungen oder scharfen Gegenstände und
Materialien, die WaterWear zerkratzen, einschneiden oder zerreißen
könnten, da diese den Audioprozessor beschädigen können.
BeschädigenSie WaterWear nicht mit den Fingernägeln.
• Folgen Sie zum Entnehmen des Audioprozessors aus WaterWear den
unten angeführten Anweisungen. Verwenden Sie keine scharfen
Gegenstände, da diese den Audioprozessor beschädigen können.
• Beim Schwimmen kann WaterWear innen beschlagen. Das ist normal, da
das Wasser kälter ist als die Luft in der Hülle. In diesem Fall sollten Sie
den Audioprozessor nach dem Schwimmen entnehmen und mit einem
weichen Tuch trocknen.
• Nach Verwendung des Audioprozessors mit WaterWear sollte der
Audioprozessor im mitgelieferten Trockenkit getrocknet werden (siehe
Audioprozessor-Benutzerhandbuch).
• Zum Schutz unserer Umwelt sollten Sie WaterWear nach Verwendung ent-
sprechend entsorgen.
MED-ELs Gewährleistung für WaterWear erfüllt die gesetzlichen
Gewährleistungsansprüche und ist auf diese beschränkt. Die Gewährleistung
gilt für Material- und Herstellungsfehler. Sie gilt nicht bei Beschädigungen,
die durch Unfall, Fahrlässigkeit, normalen Verschleiß, unsachgemäße Pege
oder Nichtbeachtung der in diesem Dokument angegebenen Warnhinweise
und Gebrauchsanweisung verursacht wurden. Die Gewährleistung gilt nicht
für den in WaterWear aufbewahrten Audioprozessor. MED-EL übernimmt
keine Haftung für Reparaturkosten, Ersatz des Audioprozessors oder jegliche
mittelbare, durch die Verwendung von WaterWear verursachte Folgeschäden.
Sollten nach Verwendung von WaterWear Probleme mit dem Audioprozessor
auftreten, legen Sie das verwendete WaterWear dem zur Begutachtung
eingeschickten Audioprozessor bei.

La protection WaterWear pour processeur porté derrière l’oreille (ci-après
dénommée WaterWear) n’est pas un accessoire de l’audio processeur
SONNET Series ou OPUS (ci-après dénommé audio processeur), mais
constitue une protection optionnelle contre la poussière et l’eau, conforme
à la classe IP (testée en immersion pendant heures à une profondeur
de mètres [pieds]). Veuillez respecter les restrictions et les conditions
d’utilisation de la protection WaterWear mentionnées ci-dessous.
Chaque protection WaterWear peut être utilisée jusqu’à fois. Ne la
portez pas et ne l’immergez pas pendant plus de heures d’aflée.
Utilisez une nouvelle bande adhésive à chaque application.
Veuillez lire attentivement ces instructions et respecter les recomman-
dations. Toute utilisation inappropriée peut entraîner une inltration

Instructions d’utilisation
Nettoyez et séchez soigneusement vos mains avant de manipuler la pro-
tection WaterWear. Vous ne devriez pas utiliser de crème ou de lotion pour
les mains. Assurez-vous que l’intérieur de la protection WaterWear est sec
et propre, puis contrôlez la protection an de vérier qu’elle n’est pas en-
dommagée. N’utilisez jamais une protection WaterWear endommagée!
Mettez l’audio processeur en marche.
. Insérez l’antenne dans la protection WaterWear, en la faisant glisser soi-
gneusement dans le manchon souple sans endommager le câble. Assurez-
vous que le câble d’antenne est complètement inséré dans le manchon et
demeure raccordé à l’antenne. Important: La protection WaterWear peut
être portée à la gauche et à la droite de la tête. Ne vous préoccupez pas
de l’orientation adéquate lors de l’insertion de l’antenne, car celle-ci peut
facilement être tournée à l’intérieur de la protection WaterWear.
. Tenez le boîtier de piles entre votre pouce et votre index, puis insérez
l’oreillette dans la protection WaterWear jusqu’à ce qu’elle repose ferme-
ment au bout de celle-ci.
. Tenez le boîtier de commande d’une main. De l’autre main, maintenez la
protection WaterWear entre votre pouce et votre index, puis placez-la sur
le boîtier de piles. La protection WaterWear doit être bien ajustée de façon
à ce que vous sentiez une résistance lorsque vous la tirez sur le boîtier de
piles. Ne tirez pas sur la languette semi-circulaire (xation supplémentaire
en option, facilement reconnaissable par son orice de xation).
. Placez la protection WaterWear sur tout l’audio processeur. Évitez de plis-
ser les bords de l’ouverture. Pour éviter d’exercer des tensions sur le câble
d’antenne, assurez-vous qu’il n’est pas tordu à l’intérieur de la protection
WaterWear.
. Avant de xer la bande adhésive, veillez à ce que la bande et la surface
de collage de l’audio processeur et de la protection WaterWear soient
sèches et exemptes de poussière. Retirez la bande adhésive du papier de
protection en carton et collez-la sur l’ouverture de la protection WaterWear.
Commencez par appliquer la bande adhésive à la base du boîtier de piles,
mais sans l’obturer complètement encore. Placez les doigts de votre main
libre sur le câble d’antenne pour expulser tout air encore présent. Assurez-
vous qu’il ne reste plus d’air en excès dans la protection WaterWear an
d’éviter tout gonement. Appuyez fermement le long de la section adhésive.
Pour une protection contre l’eau et la poussière, la bande adhésive doit
adhérer parfaitement sur tous les bords de l’ouverture de la protection
WaterWear. La bande adhésive doit recouvrir complètement le lm de
renforcement au niveau de l’ouverture de la protection WaterWear
etne doit pas être décalée ou mal alignée. On considère que la
bande adhésive est mal alignée ou mal posée si la totalité du che-
vauchement entre la bande adhésive et le lm de renforcement est
d’au moins mm (,po) de chaque côté du lm de renforcement.
Vériezà nouveau que la protection WaterWear n’est pas endommagée.
Avertissements et restrictions
• Quel que soit leur âge, les utilisateurs d’implant cochléaire peuvent utiliser
la protection WaterWear. La protection WaterWear doit uniquement être
posée et ôtée par des personnes de plus de ans pour garantir une
bonne application et éviter que la protection WaterWear et/ou les bandes
adhésives ne soient ingérées. Les enfants doivent uniquement utiliser la
protection WaterWear sous la surveillance d’un adulte.
• Conservez la protection WaterWear et les bandes adhésives hors de
portée des enfants.
• La protection WaterWear ne doit pas être utilisée par un patient reconnu
comme étant allergique aux matériaux utilisés dans sa composition
(WaterWear : TPE-U de type élastomère thermoplastique de poly-
uréthane; bande adhésive : vinyle polymère).
• La protection WaterWear est susceptible de réduire légèrement les
performances acoustiques de l’implant cochléaire.
• La protection WaterWear protège l’audio processeur uniquement si elle
est utilisée correctement. Tout non-respect de la procédure décrite peut
endommager l’audio processeur.
• Si vous choisissez d’utiliser l’audio processeur avec la protection
WaterWear, utilisez uniquement les piles alcalines, à oxyde d’argent ou
rechargeablesrecommandées par MED-EL au lieu des piles zinc-air.
Lespiles zinc-air exigent une alimentation en air qui ne peut être fournie
lors de l’utilisation de la protection WaterWear.
• La conception de la protection WaterWear est optimisée pour permettre
l’utilisation d’un câble d’antenne d’une longueur maximale de ,cm
(,po). Des câbles d’antenne plus longs peuvent empêcher la bonne
application de la protection WaterWear et provoquer une inltration d’eau
et/ou de poussière.
• La protection WaterWear peut uniquement être utilisée avec les couvercles
standards du boîtier de piles. N’utilisez pas la protection WaterWear avec
des couvercles du boîtier de piles plus petits (p. ex. les couvercles du
boîtier de piles Micro OPUSXS et SONNET).
• La protection WaterWear ne peut pas être utilisée avec le couvercle du
boîtier de piles FM. Utilisez le couvercle du boîtier de piles standard plutôt
que le couvercle du boîtier de piles FM.
• Si vous possédez un audio processeur SONNET Series, nous vous recom-
mandons d’utiliser le microphone en mode omnidirectionnel. Si vous utili-
sez la directionnalité Naturelle ou Adaptative, l’audition directionnelle peut
être altérée par la protection WaterWear.
• Si vous possédez un audio processeur SONNET Series EAS, remplacez
l’oreillette du SONNET EAS par l’oreillette standard (voir le manuel
d’utilisation de l’audio processeur concerné). Si vous utilisez un embout
d’oreille avec votre audio processeur, vous devez le retirer. Sinon, la
protection WaterWear ne peut pas être appliquée sur le processeur.
• Tenez compte des conditions environnementales de l’audio processeur
lors de son utilisation avec la protection WaterWear (voir le manuel
d’utilisation de votre audio processeur). La plage de températures de
fonctionnement est comprise entre °C (+°F) et +°C (+°F).
Généralement, lorsque l’audio processeur est porté sur le corps, la
chaleur naturelle du corps l’aide à maintenir cette plage de température.
Nelaissez pas l’audio processeur équipé de la protection WaterWear

ratures comprises entre +°C (+°F) et +°C (+°F). N’assemblez
pas la protection WaterWear dans des conditions différentes de celles
mentionnées ci-dessus.
• Ne conservez pas la protection WaterWear dans un lieu exposé à la
lumière directe du soleil, car cela pourrait dégrader l’équipement et
nuire potentiellement à son fonctionnement. MED-EL recommande de
conserver la protection WaterWear dans son emballage de protection
jusqu’à son utilisation.
• La durée de conservation des bandes adhésives est de ans.
• La protection WaterWear doit être utilisée seulement dans les situations
nécessitant une protection contre l’humidité excessive (p. ex. lors d’une
baignade).
• La protection WaterWear est conçue pour résister aux substances commu-
nément associées aux activités sportives et aquatiques (telles que l’eau
chlorée ou salée) et aux substances cosmétiques communes (telles que le
savon doux, la crème solaire ou d’autres produits similaires). Elle n’est pas
conçue pour résister aux produits chimiques en général (p. ex. acétone ou
éthanol à %). De telles substances peuvent endommager et détruire la
protection WaterWear.
• Une xation supplémentaire (p. ex. bonnet de bain) est fortement recom-
mandée pour éviter de perdre l’audio processeur. Évitez de soumettre la
protection WaterWear directement à un puissant courant d’eau.
• L’utilisation de xations ou d’objets tranchants et des matériaux suscep-
tibles de rayer, de couper ou de déchirer la protection WaterWear peut
également endommager l’audio processeur. Évitez d’endommager la
protection WaterWear avec vos ongles.
• Suivez les instructions ci-dessous pour retirer l’audio processeur de la
protection WaterWear. N’utilisez pas d’objets tranchants, car cela risque-
rait d’endommager l’audio processeur.
• De la condensation peut se former dans la protection WaterWear pendant
que vous nagez. Ce phénomène est normal et se produit en raison de
l’eau qui est plus froide que l’air à l’intérieur de la coque. En présence de
condensation, après avoir ni de nager, retirez votre audio processeur et
séchez-le avec un chiffon doux.
• Après avoir utilisé l’audio processeur avec la protection WaterWear, il est
recommandé de sécher l’audio processeur avec le kit de séchage fourni
(voir le manuel d’utilisation de votre audio processeur).

WaterWear per BTE (di seguito WaterWear) non è un accessorio della serie
SONNET o dell’audio processore OPUS (di seguito audio processore), ma
fornisce una protezione opzionale da polvere e acqua secondo la classe

Istruzioni per l’uso
Pulire e asciugare accuratamente le mani prima di maneggiare WaterWear.
Non utilizzare lozioni né creme per le mani. Assicurarsi che l’interno del
WaterWear sia asciutto e pulito ed esaminarlo per escludere eventuali dan-
neggiamenti. Non utilizzare mai un WaterWear danneggiato! Accendere
l’audio processore.
. Inserire la bobina nel WaterWear, facendola scivolare con delicatezza nella
custodia di protezione essibile senza danneggiare il cavo. Assicurarsi che
il cavetto della bobina sia completamente inserito nella custodia di prote-
zione e che resti collegato alla bobina. Importante: WaterWear può essere
indossato sul lato sinistro e destro della testa. Non preoccuparsi del corretto
orientamento quando si inserisce la bobina, in quanto questa è facile da
girare all’interno del WaterWear.
. Tenere il portabatterie tra pollice e indice e inserire il supporto auricolare
nel WaterWear no a quando è saldamente alloggiato nella punta.
. Tenere l’unità di controllo con una mano. Con l’altra mano tenere il
WaterWear tra pollice e indice e tirarlo sopra il portabatterie. WaterWear è
ben aderente, quindi si avvertirà resistenza nel tirarlo sopra il portabatterie.
Non tirare sulla linguetta semicircolare (opzione di ssaggio aggiuntiva,
facilmente riconoscibile dal foro di ssaggio).
. Tirare WaterWear sull’intero audio processore. Evitare di piegare i bordi
dell’apertura. Per evitare tensione sul cavetto della bobina, assicurarsi che il
cavetto della bobina non sia piegato all’interno del WaterWear.
. Prima di collegare la striscia adesiva, assicurarsi che la striscia e le
superci di incollaggio dell’audio processore e del WaterWear siano asciutte
e prive di polvere. Rimuovere la striscia adesiva dal cartone protettivo e
ssarla sull’apertura del WaterWear. Per applicare la striscia adesiva, iniziare
dal basso del portabatterie senza però sigillarlo ancora completamente.
Posizionare le dita della mano libera sopra il cavetto della bobina per
fare uscire l’eventuale aria residua. Assicurarsi che nel WaterWear non
sia presente aria in eccesso per evitare la formazione di bolle d’aria.
Premere saldamente verso il basso lungo la sezione adesiva. Per proteggere
dall’acqua e dalla polvere, la striscia adesiva deve aderire completamente
a tutti i bordi dell’apertura del WaterWear. La striscia adesiva deve coprire
completamente il bordo di rinforzo sull’apertura del WaterWear e non
deve essere spostata né disallineata. La striscia adesiva è considerata
disallineata o non correttamente allineata se la sovrapposizione
completa fra la striscia adesiva e il bordo di rinforzo è minore di mm
su ciascun lato del bordo di rinforzo. Ricontrollare che il WaterWear sia
ancora intatto.
. Posizionare l’audio processore con il WaterWear dietro l’orecchio al di
sopra dell’impianto. Per evitare di perdere il processore, consigliamo viva-
mente di utilizzare un ssaggio aggiuntivo (ad es. una cufa da bagno).
. Per rimuovere l’audio processore dal WaterWear, tirare con cura sulla
linguetta aggiuntiva della striscia adesiva. Rimuovere e gettare la striscia
adesiva.
. Utilizzare il pollice e l’indice per tenere il WaterWear e tirarlo al di sopra
dell’estremità del portabatterie per rimuovere l’audio processore.
Avvertenze e limitazioni
• Possono utilizzare WaterWear gli utenti di impianto cocleare di ogni età.
WaterWear deve essere applicato e rimosso unicamente da persone di al-
meno anni di età per garantire la corretta applicazione ed evitare rischi
di ingestione delle strisce adesive e/o del WaterWear. I bambini possono
utilizzare WaterWear solamente sotto il diretto controllo di un adulto.
• Tenere WaterWear e le strisce adesive fuori dalla portata dei bambini.
• WaterWear non deve essere utilizzato su pazienti con intolleranza nota
ai materiali utilizzati nel WaterWear (WaterWear: elastomero poliuretano
termoplastico TPE-U, striscia adesiva: vinile polimerico).
• Le prestazioni acustiche dell’impianto cocleare potrebbero essere legger-
mente limitate dal WaterWear.
• WaterWear proteggerà l’audio processore solo se utilizzato correttamente.
Qualsiasi deviazione dalla procedura descritta potrebbe danneggiare
l’audio processore.
• Quando si sceglie di utilizzare l’audio processore con il WaterWear, utiliz-
zare solo le batterie alcaline, all’ossido di argento o ricaricabiliconsigliate
da MED-EL anziché le batterie zinco-aria. Le batterie zinco-aria richie-
dono un afusso d’aria che non può essere garantito quando si utilizza
WaterWear.
• La progettazione del WaterWear è ottimizzata per l’utilizzo con cavetti
della bobina di lunghezza massima ,cm. Cavetti della bobina più lunghi
potrebbero impedire la corretta applicazione del WaterWear e causare
l’ingresso di acqua e/o polvere.
• WaterWear può essere utilizzato solo con coperchietti del portabatterie
standard. Non utilizzare WaterWear con coperchietti del portabatterie
più piccoli (ad es. coperchietto del portabatterie Micro per OPUS XS o
SONNET).
• WaterWear non può essere utilizzato con il coperchietto del porta-
batterieFM. Utilizzare il coperchietto del portabatterie standard invece
del coperchietto del portabatterie FM.
• Se si dispone di un audio processore della serie SONNET, si consiglia di
utilizzare il microfono in modalità omnidirezionale. Con la direzionalità
naturale o adattiva, l’ascolto direzionale potrebbe essere compromesso
dal WaterWear.
• Se si dispone di un audio processore della serie SONNET EAS, il supporto
auricolare SONNET EAS deve essere sostituito con il supporto auricolare
standard (vedere il manuale dell’audio processore applicabile). Se si uti-
lizza una chiocciola assieme all’audio processore, occorre rimuovere la
chiocciola, Altrimenti non è possibile applicare WaterWear.
• Le condizioni ambientali dell’audio processore valgono quando si utilizza
l’audio processore con il WaterWear (vedere il manuale dell’audio proces-
sore). L’intervallo di temperatura di esercizio è compreso tra °C (+ °F)
e +°C (+°F). Normalmente, quando l’audio processore è indossato
sul corpo, il calore naturale del corpo aiuta a mantenere questo intervallo
di temperatura. Non lasciare l’audio processore con il WaterWear montato
sotto la luce diretta del sole (in particolare, all’interno di un’automobile).
• La striscia adesiva deve essere ssata solo quando ci si trova entro un
intervallo di temperatura compreso tra +°C (+°F) e +°C (+ °F).
Non montare WaterWear in condizioni diverse.
• Non riporre WaterWear alla luce diretta del sole, in quanto quest’ultima
può degradare il materiale e comprometterne la funzionalità. MED-EL
consiglia di riporre WaterWear nella sua confezione protettiva no al mo-
mento dell’utilizzo.
• Il tempo di conservazione della striscia adesiva è di anni.
• WaterWear deve essere utilizzato solo quando si desidera una protezione
dall’umidità eccessiva (ad es. quando si nuota).
• WaterWear è progettato per resistere alle sostanze comunemente asso-
ciate alle attività sportive e al nuoto (come acque clorate o salate) e alle
comuni sostanze cosmetiche (come saponi delicati, protezioni solari o
prodotti simili). Non è progettato per resistere alle sostanze chimiche in
generale (come acetone o etanolo al %). Tali sostanze possono dan-
neggiare e distruggere WaterWear.
• Per evitare di perdere l’audio processore, si consiglia vivamente un
ulteriore ssaggio (ad es. una cufa da bagno). Evitare l’esposizione
diretta del WaterWear a forti correnti d’acqua.
• L’utilizzo di ssaggi o oggetti aflati e di materiali in grado di grafare,
tagliare o strappare WaterWear può danneggiare l’audio processore.
Evitare di danneggiare WaterWear con le unghie.
• Seguire le istruzioni riportate di seguito per rimuovere l’audio processore
dal WaterWear. Non utilizzare oggetti taglienti in quanto ciò potrebbe
danneggiare l’audio processore.
• Quando si nuota, può formarsi della condensa all’interno del WaterWear.
Ciò è normale e dovuto al fatto che l’acqua è più fredda dell’aria all’in-
terno del coperchietto. In caso di condensa, rimuovere l’audio processore
dopo aver nuotato e asciugarlo con un panno morbido.
• Dopo aver utilizzato l’audio processore con il WaterWear si consiglia di
asciugare l’audio processore con il kit di asciugatura fornito (vedere il
manuale dell’audio processore).
• Al ne di tutelare l’ambiente, assicurarsi di smaltire WaterWear in maniera
corretta dopo l’uso.
La garanzia di MED-EL per il WaterWear è conforme alle disposizioni di legge
sulla garanzia obbligatoria. Il produttore garantisce che il prodotto è privo
di difetti di materiale e di produzione. La garanzia non copre i danni causati
da incidenti, negligenza, normale usura, manutenzione non appropriata o
utilizzo non conforme alle avvertenze e istruzioni per l’uso citate nel pre-
sente documento. Questa garanzia non copre l’audio processore utilizzato
nel WaterWear. MED-EL non si assume alcuna responsabilità relativa a costi
di riparazione, sostituzione dell’audio processore o danni consequenziali
indiretti derivanti dall’uso del WaterWear. In caso di problemi con l’audio
processore dopo l’utilizzo del WaterWear, spedire il rispettivo WaterWear
assieme all’audio processore inviato per la valutazione.
