1.SystemDescription

TheMilli-QPlussystemisa stateoftheartwaterpurification

system,designedtoprovidethefinalpolishtowaterwhichhas

beenpretreatedbyprimarypurificationmethodssuchas

ReverseOsmosis(RO),Distillation,orDeionization(DI).

Thesystemprovidesultrapurewaterforthelaboratoryforuse

incriticalapplicationsrequiringtheabsenceofinterfering

inorganic,organic,particulate,ormicrobiologicalmaterial.

Asa resultofattentiontodesigndetail,plusstrictselection

andtestingofmaterialsofconstruction,resins,andother

purificationmedia,thesystemconsistentlyproduceswaterwhich

exceedsType1 standardsforReagentGradeWater.

TheMilli-QPlussystemutilizesa patentedpurificationpack

concept.

Thedesignofthispackensuresminimaldeadwater

volumeandasa consequenceextremelylowTOCvaluesinthe

purifiedwater.Thepackisconstructedofpurepolypropyleneand

isheatweldedtominimizeextractablesassociatedwithgluing.

Thepackconceptmakesmaintenanceofthesystemextremelyeasy.

Thesystemindicateswhenthepackrequirestobechangedand

thiscanbedonequicklyandeasilywithouttheuseofanytools.

Thecontrolboxofthesystemutilizesa membranekeypadcombined

withanalphanumericdisplay.Thealphanumericdisplayallows

theusertomonitorthestatusoftheMilli-QPlussystematall

times.

ThreeWayPoint-of-UseValve

ThisPVDFvalve,locatedbehindthefrontpaneloftheunit,is

manuallyoperatedbytheknobonthefrontpaneloftheunit.

Thisvalvehastwopositions:RECIRCULATION- wherethewater

isdirectedthroughthesystem's recirculationloop;or

PRODUCTION- wherethewaterisdirectedthroughthefinal

filtertothepoint-of-use.

Thisbutton,whenfirstdepressed,willswitchthesystemto

theoperate,mode.Duringoperatemodetheinletsolenoidvalve

isopenandthepumpisrunning.Ifthemanualpoint-of-use

valveisintheRECIRCULATIONposition,waterwillrecirculate

aroundthesystem'sinternalrecirculationloop.Ifthe

point-of-usevalveisopeninthePRODUCTIONposition,water

willbedeliveredthroughthepoint-of-use.Duringoperate,

thedisplaywillshowtheresistivityofthepurifiedwater

asproduct, Megohmx cm.

Ifthisresistivityislessthanthesetpointof14Megohmx cm

thenthedisplayofproduct, _ Megohmx cmwillflashonand

off.

Whentheresistivitybuildstogreaterthanthesetpoint,

thedisplayofproduct, _ Megohmx cmbecomesa steadydisplay.

StandbyMode

Duringnormaloperatemode,ifthebuttonisdepressed,this

willswitchthesystemtothestandbymode.

Duringstandbytheinletsolenoidvalveisclosedandthepump

isnotrunning.Therefore,thesystemisnotproducingwater.

Duringstandbythesystemwillswitchonautomaticallyevery

55minutesandrecirculatefor5 minutes.Thisinhibitsbacterial

growthanddegradationofpurewater

Auto-Test

Eachtimetheunitgoesintooperatemode,itcarriesoutan

automatictestontheaccuracyoftheresistivitymeasuringsystem.

Thetestresultisdisplayedfor4 secondsbeforethedisplaychanges

toshowproductwaterresistivity.ThedisplayshouldshowTEST:
