Introduction
Thisguidewillwalkaprofessionalinstallerthroughthe
stepsneededtoattacha2‐N‐1BluePassMulti‐Tech
Readertoanaccesscontrolpanel.The2‐N‐1supports
125KHzproximityfobsandcardsaswellasLinear
BluePassmobilecredentials.Pleasereviewthe
informationbelowtoensurethereaderisinstalled
quicklyandproperly.
WARNING:DONOTconnectthereaderupwith
energizedwiresuntilinstructedtodoso.
Grounding
Theshieldmustruncontinuouslyfromthereaderto
thepanel.Atthepanel,thereaderground,shield
line,andearthgroundmustbeconnectedtogether
atasinglepoint.
o Donotgroundtheshieldlineatthe
readerend,asthiswillcreatea
potentialgroundloop.
Power
Anon‐switchingpowersupplyatthepanelis
recommendedtopowerthereaderforthehighest
noiseimmunityandbestperformance.
ForUL294Compliance,thereadersshallbe
connectedtoaclasstwopowerlimitedpower
supplyorcontrolpaneloutput.
Therecommendedwiregaugeis24AWG.
Voltage
Theminimumreadervoltagerequiredis+6VDCtoa
maximumof+16.0VDC,and12.0VDCis
recommended.
Thereaderwillrequire100mA(typical@12VDC)in
standardmode,220mA(typical@12VDC)in
advancedmode.
Thereaderisin“standard”modebydefault.
“Advanced”modecanbeconfiguredviain‐app
settingsusingtheBluePassapp.
Connection
ConnectionsmustbeinaccordancewithNFPA70.
DONOTconnecttoareceptaclecontrolledbya
switch.
MountingtheReader
Iftheunitisusedtocontroladoororpedestrian
gate,locatetheunitasnearaspracticaltotheentry
point.Iftheunitismountedonorinawalladjacent
totheentrypoint,besurethewallissturdy.The
repeatedshockandvibrationfromaslamming
accessdoororspring‐loadedpedestriangatemust
beisolatedfromtheunit.
Nevermountthereaderdirectlyonamovingdoor
orgate.
Chooseawell‐litlocationnearthecontrolled
opening.Wiringaccessforpower,network,and
earthgroundmustbeavailabletothemounting
location.
Mounting
BoththeMullionandSingle‐gangreaderscanbe
mountedonawalloranysuitableflatsurface.
MobileDeviceandSoftware
The2‐N‐1Multi‐TechReaderutilizesBLEversion4.0.
Thereaderistobeusedinconjunctionwiththe
BluePassMobileApp(Version1.0orhigher).
Inorderforthereadertofunctionproperly,the
mobiledevice’ssoftwaremustbeuptodate.

AndroidDevices:v5.0(Lollipop)orhigherand
peripheralmodesupported.
