Introduction
Thank you very much for purchasing the Nowsonic DBox Two. This
active 2 channel Direct Injection-Box serves for connecting up to two
high impedance signals (such as instrument signals, 50 kOhm) or two
line level sources (such as a keyboard, DJ mixer etc.). The signals may
then be connected to the microphone inputs of a mixing desk or to
external mic preamplifiers via the balanced low impedance outputs
(600 ohms) of the DBox Two. Thanks to the rugged metal housing and
power supply from an internal battery, the DBox Two is equally suited
for use in a recording studio or on stage.
Please take your time to read these instructions carefully in order to
operate the DBox Two properly.
Please check the unit after unpacking for any damages. In case the
housing is visibly damaged, please do not operate the unit, but con-
tact your local dealer from whom you have purchased it.

Operating instructions
1) This DI box for indoor use was designed for lossless transmission
of audio signals over long distances.
2) Power is supplied via a standard 9V battery (type PP3). Batteries
contain hazardous waste substances and therefore must be dispo-
sed properly. If you want to dispose the unit itself, please remove
the internal battery first.
3) Turn off the DBox Two via its POWER switch if the device is not in
use: This will prolong the battery‘s lifetime and avoids frequent
replacement of the battery.
4) When inserting a battery, please take care of connecting the
battery terminals correctly.
5) Don‘t let any batteries lie around for any reason, since children
and/or domestic animals might swallow them. If a battery has
been swallowed, immediately call a doctor!
6) Leaking or damaged batteries may cause skin irritations. Always
wear protective gloves when changing batteries.
7) Be aware that the battery may not be short-circuited, thrown into
a fire or recharged. In this case it may explode!
8) Please make sure that no liquids spill into the housing. Otherwise
let the unit be checked by a qualified technician before operating
it again. Any damages caused by liquids that have been spilled of
the housing are not subject to warranty.
9) Do not heavily shake the unit. Avoid excessive force on the
housing while operating the unit.
10) The operating temperature must always be between -5° C and
+45° C. Do not operate the unit next to heat sources like radiators
and do not expose it to direct sunlight.
11) The relative environmental humidity must not exceed 50% with a
temperature of +45° C.
12) The unit must be operated in an altitude between -20 up to
+2.000 a.s.l.
13) Please make sure that the unit is only operated by qualified
personnel. Damages on the unit are often caused by a faulty
operation!
14) Do not use any solvents or aggressive cleaning agents when
cleaning the unit! Please use a soft and dry cloth instead.
15) Please use the original packing material for transporting the
device.
16) Please note that unauthorized modifications are not allowed due
to safety reasons!
17) Please note: If you operate the device in any other way than
described in this manual, the device may be damaged. In addition
the warranty may be void.

Operation
1) A DI box converts unbalanced sources like the signal of an electric
guitar or a keyboard into a balanced signal for connecting to any
microphone input of a mixing console or microphone preamplifier.
2) In addition, the impedance of the Hi-Z signal is adapted to the
low-impedance input of a subsequent microphone preamplifier.
3) Due to the design, you can connect either two monophonic sour-
ces (such as an electric guitar and a bass guitar) or a stereophonic
device (such as a stereo keyboard or a DJ mixer) to the DBox Two.
4) Depending on the configuration, you select the MONO or STEREO
mode via the corresponding switch: In STEREO mode, the signal
from INPUT 1 is routed to OUTPUT 1 and INPUT 2 is routed to OUT-
PUT 2. If MONO mode is active, the signal from INPUT 1 is routed
to both outputs: INPUT 2 then is not active.
5) The PHASE switch reverses the polarity of both channels; activate
the PHASE switch if you hear any phase cancellation with other
signals.
6) The HI CUT switch activates a low pass filter for damping signals
above 8 kHz. Activate the HI CUT to eliminate unwanted noise and
hiss or to damp the high frequency range (similar as a loudspeaker).
8) In order to obtain the best sound quality, please use only high-
quality cables. Please make sure that the cables are properly
connected.
9) Connect your audio sources (e.g. electrical guitar, bass, keyboard
etc.) to the sockets named INPUT 1 and INPUT 2.

9) If you want to loop through the input signals to subsequent
guitar amplifiers etc., connect the amplifiers with the unbalanced
LINK 1 or LINK 2 jacks using standard monophonic cables.
10) If any noise occurs, please activate the Ground-Lift switch. In
addition, you may adapt the input gain as required using the PAD
switch (+20dB for low-level line sources, 0dB for electric guitars,
-30dB for power amplifier outputs) if any clipping occurs.
11) Connect the OUTPUT 1 and OUTPUT 2 jacks with two microphone
inputs on your mixing desk using balanced XLR cables. Of course
you can feed the DBox Two monophonic with only one source.
Accordingly you only have to use one output.
Inserting and changing the battery
Please follow all instructions for operating the device.
Open the battery compartment on the side panel next to the INPUT
2 and LINK 2 sockets respectively.
In order to insert the new battery, you must first remove the old
battery from the compartment.
The acid of leaking or damaged batteries may cause heavy skin
irritations. Therefore always wear protective gloves when changing
batteries.
Insert the new battery: Please take care of connecting the battery
terminals correctly.
Close the battery compartment and lock the cover.
Turn off the POWER switch of the DBox Two if the device is not used
for a longer period. In addition you should remove the battery to
avoid battery leaking.
For a long operating time please use Alkaline batteries only. Turn off
the DBox Two via its POWER switch if you don‘t use it.

Einleitung
Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Kauf der Nowsonic DBox Two. Diese
zweikanalige aktive Direct-Injection-Box dient zum Anschluss von bis
zu zwei hochohmigen Signalquellen (z. B. Instrumentensignale, 50
kOhm) oder zwei Quellen mit Linepegel (z. B. Keyboard, DJ-Mixer o.ä.).
Über die niederohmigen symmetrischen Ausgänge (600 Ohm) der
DBox Two können Sie die Signale dann direkt mit den Mikrofon-
Eingängen eines Mischpults oder externen Mikrofonverstärkern
verbinden. Durch das stabile Metallgehäuse und die Stromversorgung
über eine interne Batterie eignet sich die DBox Two gleichermaßen für
den Betrieb im Studio wie auf der Bühne.
Bitte nehmen Sie sich Zeit und lesen Sie diese Bedienungsanleitung
sorgfältig durch, damit Sie die DBox Two richtig in Betrieb nehmen
können.
Bitte überprüfen Sie das Gerät nach dem Auspacken auf etwaige
Schäden: Sofern Schäden am Gehäuse sichtbar sind, nehmen Sie
