(EN) Ex safety manual Ex-Time 40
1. Application
The Ex-Time 40 is an indoor wall clock for use in potentially explosive areas of
zones 2 and 1 according to Directive 2014/34/EU (ATEX).
2. Safety instructions
This Ex safety manual contains information and safety regulations that must be
observed for safe functioning under the conditions described. Non-observance of
this information and these instructions can have serious consequences or it may
violate regulations.
Read the Ex safety manual carefully before using the device!
In case of any doubt
(in the form of translation or printing errors) the German version shall apply.
3. Faults and damage
If there is any reason to suspect that the safety of the unit has been impaired, it
must be withdrawn from use and removed immediately from the Ex-area.
Measures must be taken to prevent it from being restarted accidentally.
We recommend that the unit is returned to the manufacturer for inspection.
The safety of the unit may be compromised, if, for example:
- there is visible damage to the housing.
- the unit has been subjected to excessive loads.
- the unit has been improperly stored.
- the unit has been damaged in transit.
- unit markings or inscriptions are illegible.
- malfunctions occur.
- permitted limit values have been exceeded.
4. Safety regulations
Use of this unit assumes that the operator observes the conventional safety
regulations and has read the certificate in order to eliminate faulty operation of the
unit.
- The movement and battery compartment housing must not be opened within the
Ex area.
- The battery should only be exchanged outside the Ex-area.
- Additional batteries must not be carried in the Ex-area.
- The Ex-Time 40 must be securely attached to a wall.
- It must be ensured that the clock does not accidentally fall in zone 0.
- The clock should only be cleaned with a damp cloth.

4.1 Special conditions
- Only the primary batteries specified in the Ex safety manual may be used.

6. Battery replacement
To change the battery, the two screws on the battery housing must be loosened
using a suitable screwdriver. Then remove the cover of the battery housing and take
out the used battery.
After inserting a new battery (use type-tested batteries only, see table under point
5; pay attention to the polarity! See picture on battery housing), refit the cover of the
battery housing (spring pressing on the battery) and secure with the two screws.
The clock will then start working again. The time can be set or corrected with the
white dial on the movement housing. Dispose of depleted batteries in an appropriate
and environmentally friendly manner!

7. Mounting
The Ex-Time 40 is hung on a suitable item by means of the metal strap on the back
of the clock. The clock must be securely fastened and it must be ensured that the
Ex-Time 40 cannot be accidentally dropped into zone 0. For electrostatic reasons,
completely isolated suspension - e.g. on a purely plastic wall - should be avoided.
8. Repair
Because a safety check is required after a repair, any repairs must be carried out by
the manufacturer or by persons or service centers authorized by the manufacturer.
9. Cleaning, maintenance and storage
- For electrostatic reasons, only use a damp cloth or sponge to clean the unit.
- Do not use any solvents or abrasive cleaning agents when cleaning.
- The battery should be removed from the unit during prolonged periods of storage.
- Do not allow storage temperatures to exceed or fall below the permitted range of
0 °C to +50 °C!

1. Anwendung
Die Ex-Time 40 ist eine Innenraum-Wanduhr für den Einsatz in explosionsgefähr-
deten Bereichen der Zonen 2 und 1 nach Richtlinie 2014/34/EU (ATEX).
2. Sicherheitshinweise
Das vorliegende Ex-Sicherheitshandbuch enthält Informationen und Sicherheitsvor-
schriften, die für eine sichere Funktionsweise bei den beschriebenen Bedingungen
unbedingt zu berücksichtigen sind. Eine Nichtbeachtung dieser Informationen und
Hinweise kann gefährliche Folgen haben oder gegen Vorschriften verstoßen.
Vor dem Gebrauch des Geräts ist das Ex-Sicherheitshandbuch aufmerksam
zu lesen!
Im Zweifelsfall (in Form von Übersetzungs- oder Druckfehlern) gilt das
deutsche Ex-Sicherheitshandbuch.
3. Fehler und unzulässige Belastungen
Sobald zu befürchten ist, dass die Gerätesicherheit beeinträchtigt wird, muss das
Gerät außer Betrieb genommen und unverzüglich aus dem Ex-Bereich entfernt
werden.
Die unbeabsichtigte Wiederinbetriebnahme muss verhindert werden.
Wir empfehlen, das Gerät zu einer Überprüfung an den Hersteller zu schicken.
Die Gerätesicherheit kann z.B. gefährdet sein, wenn:
- am Gehäuse Beschädigungen sichtbar sind.
- das Gerät unsachgemäßen Belastungen ausgesetzt wurde.
- das Gerät unsachgemäß gelagert wurde.
- das Gerät Transportschäden erlitten hat.
- Gerätebeschriftungen unleserlich sind.
- Fehlfunktionen auftreten.
- die zulässigen Grenzwerte überschritten werden.
4. Sicherheitsvorschriften
Die Benutzung des Gerätes setzt beim Anwender die Beachtung der üblichen
Sicherheitsvorschriften und das Lesen des Zertifikates voraus, um Fehlbedienungen
am Gerät auszuschließen.
- Das Uhrwerk- und Batteriefachgehäuse darf innerhalb des Ex-Bereiches nicht
geöffnet werden.
- Die Batterie darf nur außerhalb des Ex-Bereiches gewechselt werden.
- Das Mitführen von zusätzlichen Batterien ist im Ex-Bereich nicht zulässig.

- Die Ex-Time 40 muss sicher an einer Wand befestigt werden.
- Es ist sicherzustellen, dass versehentliches Herunterfallen in die Zone 0 vermie-
den wird.
- Die Uhr darf nur mit einem feuchten Tuch gereinigt werden.
4.1 Besondere Bedingungen
- Es dürfen nur die im Ex-Sicherheitshandbuch aufgeführten Batterien verwendet
werden.

6. Batteriewechsel
Zum Batteriewechsel müssen die beiden Schrauben des Batteriegehäuses mit
einem geeigneten Schraubendreher gelöst werden. Nehmen Sie danach die
Abdeckung des Batteriegehäuses ab und entnehmen Sie die verbrauchte Batterie.
Nach dem Einlegen einer neuen Batterie (nur typgeprüfte Batterien verwenden,
siehe Tabelle unter Punkt 5; Polung beachten! siehe Bild auf Batteriegehäuse) wird
der Deckel des Batteriegehäuses wieder montiert (Feder drückt auf Batterie) und
mit den beiden Schrauben befestigt. Die Uhr beginnt nun wieder zu laufen. Die
Uhrzeit kann mit dem weißen Einstellrad des Uhrwerkgehäuses eingestellt bzw.
korrigiert werden. Verbrauchte Batterien sach– und umweltgerecht entsorgen!
7. Befestigung
Die Ex-Time 40 wird mittels der metallischen Halteschlaufe an der Uhrrückseite
an einem geeigneten Medium aufgehängt. Eine sichere Befestigung der Uhr
muss gewährleistet sein und es ist sicherzustellen, dass ein versehentliches
Herunterfallen der Ex-Time 40 in die Zone 0 vermieden wird. Aus elektrostatischen
Gründen ist eine völlig isolierte Aufhängung – z.B. an einer reinen Kunststowand
– zu vermeiden.
8. Reparatur
Reparaturen müssen vom Hersteller oder vom Hersteller autorisierten Personen
oder Service-Centers durchgeführt werden, da nach einer Reparatur eine sicher-
heitstechnische Überprüfung erforderlich ist.
9. Reinigung, Wartung und Lagerung
- Gerät aus antistatischen Gründen nur mit einem feuchten Tuch oder Schwamm
reinigen.
- Verwenden Sie zur Reinigung keine Lösungs- oder Scheuermittel.
- Bei längerer Lagerung ist die Batterie aus dem Gerät zu entnehmen.
- Zulässige Lagertemperaturen 0 °C bis +50 °C nicht unter- bzw. überschreiten!

1. Application
L’Ex-Time 40 est une horloge murale d’intérieur destinée à une utilisation en zones
potentiellement explosives des Zones2 et 1 conformément à la directive 2014/34/
UE (ATEX).
2. Instructions de sécurité
Le présent manuel de sécurité ATEX contient des informations et consignes de
sécurité à respecter afin de garantir un fonctionnement en toute sécurité dans les
conditions décrites. La non-observation de ces informations et instructions peut
avoir de graves conséquences ou peut enfreindre la réglementation.
Avant d’utiliser l’appareil, lisez attentivement le manuel de sécurité ATEX!
En cas
de doute (éventuelles erreurs de traduction ou d’impression), la version allemande
prévaut.
3. Pannes et dommages
S’il l’on suspecte une défaillance du dispositif de sécurité de l’appareil, ce dernier
ne doit plus être utilisé et immédiatement être retiré de la zone ATEX.
Prendre les mesures nécessaires pour prévenir toute remise en marche accidentelle.
Nous recommandons de retourner l’appareil au fabricant en vue de son inspection.
La sécurité de l’appareil peut être compromise, par exemple si:
- des dommages externes sont visibles sur le boîtier,
- l’appareil a été soumis à des charges excessives,
- l’appareil a été stocké de manière inappropriée,
- l’appareil a été endommagé lors du transport,
- des marquages ou inscriptions sur l’appareil sont illisibles,
- des dysfonctionnements surviennent,
- les valeurs limites autorisées ont été dépassées.
4. Réglementations de sécurité
L’utilisation de cet appareil suppose que l’utilisateur respecte les réglementations
de sécurité conventionnelles et qu’il ait lu le certificat de manière à exclure toute
utilisation non conforme de l’appareil.
- Le boîtier du mouvement et du compartiment de la pile ne doit pas être ouvert en
zone ATEX.
- La pile doit uniquement être remplacée à l’extérieur de la zone ATEX.
- Ne pas introduire de piles supplémentaires dans la zone ATEX.

- L’horloge Ex-Time 40 doit être solidement fixée à un mur.
- Exclure toute chute accidentelle de l’horloge en Zone0.
- L’horloge doit uniquement être nettoyée à l’aide d’un chiffon humide.
4.1 Conditions spéciales
- Seules les piles primaires spécifiées dans le manuel de sécurité ATEX peuvent être
utilisées.

6. Remplacement des piles
Pour remplacer la pile, desserrer les deux vis du boîtier de la pile à l’aide d’un
tournevis approprié. Retirer ensuite le couvercle du compartiment de la pile et retirer
la pile vide.
