Environmental information

All unnecessary packaging material has been omitted. We have done our utmost to make the

packaging easily separable into three mono materials: cardboard, polystyrene and plastic.

Your set consists of materials which can be recycled if disassembled by a specialized

company. Please observe the local regulations regarding the disposal of packaging

materials, exhausted batteries and old equipment.

POWER SUPPLY

Whenever convenient, use the power supply if you want to

conserve battery life. Make sure you remove the plug from the

set and wall socket before inserting batteries.

Batteries (optional)

Open the battery compartment and insert six batteries, type

R20, UM1 or D-cells (preferably alkaline) with the correct

polarity as indicated by the “+” and “-” symbols inside the

compartment.

Replace the compartment door, making sure the batteries are

firmly and correctly in place. The set is now ready to operate.

Incorrect use of batteries can cause electrolyte leakage and will

corrode the compartment or cause the batteries to burst.

Therefore:

– Do not mix battery types, e.g. alkaline with carbon zinc.

Only use batteries of the same type for the set.

– When inserting new batteries, do not try to mix old

batteries with the new ones.

– Remove the batteries if the set is not to be used for a long

time.

Batteries contain chemical substances, so they should

be disposed of properly

Check if the power voltage as shown on the type plate on

the base of the set, corresponds to your local power

voltage. If it does not, consult your dealer or service

organisation.

If your set is equipped with a voltage selector, adjust it so

that it matches with the local power.

Connect the mains lead to the MAINS V~ socket and the

wall socket.

– The mains supply is now connected and ready for use.

To switch off completely, withdraw the mains lead from the

wall socket.

•Disconnect the mains lead from the wall socket to protect

your set during heavy thunderstorms.

OPERATION DIGITAL TUNER

Adjust the source selector to your desired sound source:

OFF/ TAPE, TUNER, CD.

Adjust the sound using the VOLUME, INCREDIBLE

SURROUND and OFF, DYNAMIC BASS BOOST, ULTRA

BASS controls.

To switch off the set, adjust the source selector to OFF/TAPE

position and check that the cassette keys are released.

Note: When the set is switched off the tuner presets will be

retained in the set's memory.

Adjust the source selector to TUNER.

Press BAND once or more to select your wave band.

To tune to radio stations, press the SEARCH controls ∞or

§ until the frequency in the display starts running, then

release the control.

–Srch appears in the display and the radio automatically

tunes to a station of sufficient reception.

Repeat if necessary until you find the desired station.

•To tune a weak transmitter, briefly press ∞or §until

you have found optimum reception or the correct frequency.

– When STEREO appears in the display, you are receiving a

FM-stereo transmitter.

To improve radio reception

• For

, pull out the telescopic aerial. Incline and turn the

aerial. Reduce its length if the signal is too strong (very close

to a transmitter).

• For

, the set is provided with a built-in aerial so the

telescopic aerial is not needed. Direct the aerial by turning

the whole set.

Tune to your desired station, following steps

1-4

under

‘RADIO RECEPTION’.

™If the frequency is already stored in the memory, the

preset number will be displayed.

Press PROG to activate programming.

™PROGRAM flashes in the display.

Press the PRESET 4, 3(down/up) to allocate a preset

station number from 1 to 29.

Press PROG again to confirm the setting.

Repeat steps

1-4

to store all other presets.

• You can clear a preset number by storing another frequency

in its place.

To deactivate programming mode

If during programming you decide not to programme a station,

adjust the OFF/ TAPE, TUNER, CD slider to CD or OFF/TAPE.

Tuning to preset stations

Press the PRESET 4, 3control (down, up) until the desired

number is shown.

Set the source selector to CD.

To open the CD door, press OPEN on the CD door.

Insert a CD with the printed side facing up and press the CD

door gently to close.

Press PLAY•PAUSE 2; to start playback.

Adjust the sound using the VOLUME, INCREDIBLE

SURROUND and BASS controls.

To interrupt playback press PLAY•PAUSE 2;. To resume,

press PLAY•PAUSE 2; again

To stop CD play, press STOP 9.

To switch off the set, adjust the source selector to OFF/

TAPE position (with the cassette keys released)

Note: CD playback will also stop when:

– you press the CD door open;

– the source selector is in OFF/ TAPE/ TUNER position;

– the CD has reached to the end.

During playback, you can use the SEARCH keys to select a

particular track.

Press SEARCH §once for the next track, or press

repeatedly until the desired track number appears in the

display.

Press SEARCH ∞ once to return to the beginning of a

current track.

Press SEARCH ∞ more than once for a previous track.

If you have selected a track number in the stop or pause

position, you will need to press PLAY•PAUSE 2; to start

playback.

Finding a passage within a track

Press and hold down SEARCH ∞or §.

– The CD is played at high speed and low volume.

When you recognize the passage you want, release the

SEARCH controls.

The CD MODE button allows you to select 4 different play

modes. The modes can be selected or changed during playback.

SHUFFLE - All tracks are played in random order.

SHUFFLE REPEAT ALL - Repeats the entire CD or programme

in random order.

REPEAT - Plays the current track continuously.

REPEAT ALL - Repeats the entire CD or programme

During playback or in the STOP position, select your play

mode by pressing CD MODE once or more until the desired

play mode appears in the display.

–You can use SEARCH ∞or §to skip tracks during CD

MODE playback.

To return to normal playback press CD MODE until the various

SHUFFLE/ REPEAT modes are no longer shown in the display.

–You can also press STOP 9to quit the play mode.

You may store up to 20 tracks in the desired sequence. If you

like, store any track more than once.

In the STOP position, press SEARCH ∞or § for your

desired track.

As soon as your chosen track number is displayed, press

PROG once to store the track.

– The display will show ‘ ’ briefly and ‘PROGRAM’,

followed by your selected track number.

Repeat steps

To review your set programme

In the stop position, press and hold down PROG for one

second or more.

– The display will show in sequence all your desired tracks.

Start playback of your programme by pressing

PLAY•PAUSE 2;.

Erasing a programmme

You can erase the contents of the memory by:

– pressing the CD door open;

– moving the source selector position;

– pressing STOP 9twice during playback / in stop position

• The display will show ‘ ’ briefly before the programme

is cancelled.

Set the source selector to TAPE.

Press STOP•OPEN 9/to open the cassette holder and

insert a cassette.

Close the cassette holder.

Press PLAY 1to start playback.

Adjust the sound using the VOLUME, INCREDIBLE

SURROUND and BASS controls

To interrupt playback press PAUSE ;. To resume, press the

key again.

By pressing 5or 6,fast winding of the tape is possible in

both directions.To stop fast winding, press STOP•OPEN 9/.

To stop the tape, press STOP•OPEN 9/.

– The keys are automatically released at the end of the tape,

except if PAUSE ;has been activated.

With the source selector in OFF/ TAPE position, the set is

switched off when all the cassette keys are released.

• Recording is permissible insofar as copyright or other rights

of third parties are not infringed.

• This deck is not suitable for recording on CHROME (IEC II) or

METAL (IEC IV) type cassettes. For recording you should use

NORMAL type cassettes (IEC I) on which the tabs have not

been broken.

• The recording level is set automatically. Altering the

VOLUME, INCREDIBLE SURROUND and BASS controls

will not affect the recording in progress.

• At the very beginning and end of the tape, no recording will

take place during the 7 seconds, when the leader tape

passes the recorder heads.

• To protect a tape from accidental erasure have the tape in

front of you and break out the left tab. Recording on this side

is no longer possible. To record over this side again, cover

the tabs with a piece of adhesive tape.
