Important

Read these instructions for use carefully before using the appliance and save them for future

reference.

◗Check if the voltage indicated on the appliance corresponds to the local mains voltage before

you connect the appliance.

◗Do not use the coffee maker if the mains plug, the mains cord or the appliance itself is

damaged.

◗If the mains cord is damaged, it must be replaced by Philips, a service centre authorised by

Philips or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

◗Do not place the coffee maker on a hot surface and prevent the mains cord from coming

into contact with hot surfaces.

◗Never immerse the coffee maker in water or in any other liquid.

◗Unplug the appliance:

- if problems occur during brewing;

- before cleaning the coffee maker.

◗Keep the coffee maker out of the reach of children and do not let them play with the

appliance. Prevent children from pulling at the mains cord. Do not let the mains cord hang

over the edge of the worktop.

Before first use

1Let the appliance run once without filling the filter with ground coffee (see chapter 'Using the

appliance').

2Clean the detachable parts (see chapter 'Cleaning').

◗You can store excess cord by pushing it into the opening at the back of the coffee maker (fig.

1).

Using the appliance

Brewing coffee

1Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water (fig. 2).

◗The graduations on the left are for large cups (120 ml) (fig. 3).

◗The graduations on the right are for small cups (80 ml).

2Open the filter holder (fig. 4).

3Take a paper filter (type 1x4 or no. 4) and fold the sealed edges to prevent tearing and

folding (fig. 5).

4Put the filter in the filter holder (fig. 6).

BSome versions come with a permanent filter. In this case you do not need to use paper filters.

5Put ground coffee (filter-fine grind) in the filter (fig. 7).

- For large cups: use one heaped measuring spoon of ground coffee for each cup.

- For small cups: use one level measuring spoon of ground coffee for each cup.

6Close the filter holder (fig. 8).

7Place the jug on the hotplate (fig. 9).

8Switch the appliance on by pressing the on/off button (fig. 10).

9When all the water has passed through the filter, you can take the jug out off the appliance

(fig. 11).

10 After having poured coffee, put the jug with the remaining coffee back on the hotplate to

keep it hot and to preserve its flavour.

Making another jug of fresh coffee right away

If you want to make another jug of fresh coffee right away, switch the appliance off and let it cool

down for three minutes. Fill the water tank again and put a new amount of ground coffee in a new

paper filter (or in the permanent filter after emptying and cleaning it). Now you can make fresh

coffee again.

Heating up coffee in a microwave

If you want to heat up coffee, you can place the jug in the microwave, even with the buffer ring

(type HD7502 only) attached.

Features

◗Drip stop

The drip stop system prevents coffee from dripping through the filter onto the hotplate when you

take the jug out off the appliance during or after brewing.

◗Protective buffer ring (type HD7502 only) (fig. 12).

The jug has been provided with a detachable buffer ring, which helps prevent the jug from breaking.

Cleaning

Always unplug the appliance before you start cleaning it.

Never immerse the appliance in water.

1Clean the outside of the coffee maker with a moist cloth.

2Detach the filter holder (fig. 13).

There is no need to remove the spring.

3Detach the front of the filter holder (fig. 14).

4Detach the buffer ring (type HD7502 only) (fig. 15).

5Clean these parts in hot water with some washing-up liquid or in the dishwasher.

Descaling

Regular descaling will prolong the life of your appliance and will guarantee optimal brewing results

for a long time.

In case of normal use (two full jugs of coffee every day), descale your coffee maker:

- 2 or 3 times a year if you are using soft water (up to 18 cDH);

- 4 or 5 times a year if you are using hard water (over 18 cDH).

Turn to your local water board for information about the hardness of the water in your area.

1Fill the water tank with white vinegar. Do not put a filter or ground coffee in the filter holder.

2Let the appliance complete two brewing cycles.

3Let the appliance complete two more brewing cycles with fresh, cold water to remove any

vinegar and scale residues.

4Clean the jug and the filter holder (see chapter 'Cleaning').

- Jug type HD7954/88 for coffee maker type HD7502/88 or HD7500/88 (white/cornhusk

yellow).

- Jug type HD7957 for coffee maker type HD7502/31 (lilac).

System blokady kapania zapobiega kapaniu kawy na płytę grzejną, kiedy wyjmujesz dzbanek z

urządzenia podczas parzenia lub po zaparzeniu kawy.

W przypadku normalnego u ywania ekspresu (dwa pełne dzbanki kawy ka dego dnia), nale y

usuwać kamień

- 2 lub 3 razy do roku, je eli u ywasz miękkiej wody (do 18 cDH);

- 4 lub 5 razy, je li u ywasz twardej wody (ponad 18 cDH).

Zwróć się do lokalnego nadzoru nad wodą w celu uzyskania informacji na temat twardości wody w

twoim rejonie.
