Philips adjustable handcontrol VU0005 for

MSX home computers

The switching mechanism of this unique

handcontrolis based on an inductive principle.

Itis the first adjustable handcontrol and can be

used with al MSX home computers.

The action buttons

Some of the more sophisticated MSX video

games require two independent action buttons

while for the majority of games one action

button wil suffice.

This handcontrot is equipped with two action

buttons, one on the base of the handoontrol,

the other on top of the joystick. It offers you a

choice, since you can adjust the function of the

action buttons in such away that both buttons

perform the same function or perform a

separate function.

Note:

The handcontrol can also be given aspecial

function when writing your own MSX-BASIC

programs, using the folowing statements:

#For use of the action buttons:

(ON STRIG GOSUB

To indicate which subroutine has to be

executed when action button is pressed.

STRIG (XX ON/OFF/STOP

To (de)activate the checking of the action

button status.

Gives the position of he joystick.

At the bottom of the handcontrol you see two

adusting screws @and ©that can easily be

tumed with a coin or afinger nail

Adjusting the joystick

The joystick can be adjusted in two different

ways to suit your personal preference and/or

the kind of game you are playing:

eAdjusting the contact angle

Tum the adjusting screw ©to the right

(clockwise) and the contact angie becomes

smaller It means that there is less free play

before contact is made.

Tum the adjusting screw ©to the left

{counter clockwiss) and the contact angle

becomes larger. There wil be more free play

before the joystick makes contact.

eAdjusting the angle of movement

The joystick consists of two separate,

rotatable mouidings. At the bottom edge of

the top-part you see amarker ©. At {he top

‘edge of the bottom part three indicators ©:

T, TT ‚and TT

When you place the marker ©opposite the

indicator Tthe joystick can only be moved

over alimited distance. When you place it

opposite the indicator TTT

,the joystick has

reached its maximum movement. Al tree

positions have a click-stop.

Note:

You have to make sure that the angle of contact

lies within the reach of the angie of movement

of the joystick. If you don't, the joystick wil not

function!

Aword of advise

‘We recommend that you experiment alittle with

the possibilities of his unique handcontrol to

find the setting that suits you best. You may

also find that different types of software require

different settings.

Les touches de fonction

Certains des jeux MSX les plus compliqués ont

besoin de deux touches de fonction

indépendantes, alors que pour la plupart des

jeux, une seule touche est suffisante

Le contrôle manuel est équipé de deux touches

de fonction, 'une sure pied du contrôle

manuel, autre sur la manette. Cela vous

permet de réger les touches de fonction de

tele fagon que les deux touches on soit la

même fonction, soit une fonction indépendante.

Le contrôle manuel peut aussi avoir une

fonction spéciale si vous éerivez vous-même

vos programmes de base MSX, en vous

Au fond du contrôle manuel vous trouverez

deux vis réglables © et ©, que l'on peut

facilement déviser avec une pièce de monnaie

ou un onge.

©Si vous toumez la vis ©vers la gauche (sens

contraire d'une montre), les deux touches

ont des fonctions individuelles (a direction

estindiquée avec [A] |B! }

©Sivous toumez la vis ©vers la droite (sens

d'une montre), les deux touches ont la

même fonction (la direction est indiquée

avec [AB]

Si vous choisissez la méthode [A] [E] et si vous.

utilise Ie contrôle manuel pour un jeu désigné

pour unetouche, seulement atouche ©sera

mise en route. (Mise en route au sommetde la

manette).

Réglage de la manette

La manette peut, selon votre préférence et/ou

la sorte de jeu choisie, se régler de deux

manières différentes.

©Réglage de angle de contact

Sí vous toumez la vis de réglage ©vers a

droite (sens d'une montre) angle de

contact rêtrécit, Cela signifie au'iy a moins

deliberté de jeu avant que le contact soit

Si vous toumez la vis de réglage ©vers la

gauche (sens contraire d'une montre)

davantage de liberté de jeu avant que la

manette n'établisse Ie contact.

déplacée que sur une distance imitée.

Si vous le placez à'opposé de lindicateur TTT

la manette atteint son mouvement maximum.

Les trois positions ont un déclic-stop.

Note:

Vous devez vous assurer que l'angle de

contact est áportée de la main de langle de

mouvement de la manette. Si ce n'est pas Ie

Cas, la manette ne fonctionnera pas.

Verbindung mit allen MSX-Heimcomputem

verwendbar ist.

Der Handregler ist ausgerüstet mit:

Die Aktionstasten

Enige der raffinierteren MSX-Videospicle

machen zwei voneinander unabhängige

Aktionstasten erforderich, während für die

meisten Spiele eine Aktionstaste genügt

Dieser Handregier ist it zwei Aktionstasten

ausgerüstet, —eine auf der Grundplatte, die

andere am oberen Ende des Hebe.

Die Aktionstasten können vom Benutzer selbst

„programmiert” werden, und zwar 50,dass die

beiden Tasten entweder die gleiche oder

jeweils eine gesonderte Funktion erfülen.

Falls Sie Ihre eigenen MSX-BASIC-Programme

schreiben, kann dem Handregier überdies eine

speziele Funktion zugewiesen werden; hierbei

sind folgende Anweisungen (statements) zu

sich mit einer Münze oder dem Fingemagel

leicht verstellen.

Aktionstasten haben gesonderte

Funktionen.

(Stelung [A][B])-

Wenn Sie die [À][E] -Mode wählen und den

Handregier für ein Spiel benutzen, das für eine

einzige Aktionstaste entworten it, 50 ist nur

Aktionstaste (D (am oberen Ende des Hebel}

aktivien.

Einstellung des Hebels

Zur Anpassung an Ihren persönichen

Geschmack bzw. an die Art des betreffenden

Spiels hat der Hebel zwei Einstelimögichkeiten:

*Einstellung des Kontaktwinkels

Rechtsdrehung von Stelischraube ©, dn. im

Uhrzeigersinne: kleinerer Kontaktwinkel, d.n.

weniger freies Spiel bis zur Kontaktgabe.

Linksdrehung von Stelischraube ©, d.h.

entgegen dem Uhrzeiger: grösserer

Kontaktwinkel, d.h. mehr freies Spiel bis zur

Kontaktgabe.

*Einstellung des Bewegungswinkels

Der Hebel besteht aus zwei

getrennten, gegeneinander

drehbaren Teilen. Am unteren

Rand des oberen Teiis sehen Sie

eine Marke ©, am oberen Rand

unteren Teils drei

Indikatoren®:T ‚TT

und TTT.

Wenn Sie die Marke © dem Incikator T°

gegenüberstellen, ist der Bewegungsbereich

des Hebels begrenzt. Wenn Sie die Marke dem

Indikator TTT gegenüberstelien, ist der

Bewegungsbereich maximal; bezeichnet die

Mittelstelung. Jede dieser drei Stelungen wird

durch Einrasten arretiert

Anmerkung:

Überzeugen Sie sich davon, dass der

Kontaktwinkel innerhalb des

Winkelbewegungsbereichs des Hebels liegt

Andermnfals kann der Hebel nicht funktionieren.

Ein guter Rat

Wir empfehlen Ihnen, mit diesem fabehaften

Handregler zunächst ein wenig zu

experimentieren, um diejenige Einstellung zu

inden, die Ihnen am angenehmsten ist. Auch

werden Sie vieleicht feststellen, dass

verschiedene Softwaretypen gewissen

ÁÄnderungen der Einstellung erfordem.

voor MSX home computers.

Het schakel-mecharisme van deze unieke

spelregelaar is gebaseerd op een inductief

De actie-knoppen

Bij sommige, meer geraffineerde MSX

video-spellen heeft men twee onafhankelijke

actie-knoppen nodig, hoewel één knop voor

verreweg de meeste spellen voldoende is.

Deze spelregelaar is uitgerust met twee

actie-knoppen, één op de voet van de

Geeft de stand van de stuurknuppel aan.

Onder op de voet van de spelregelaar vindt u

twee instelschroeven @en ©, die makkeljk met

een munt of uw vingernagel te verdraaien zijn.

©Draai de schroef @naar links (tegen de

richting van de kdok} en beide knoppen

hebben verschilende functies. De richting

wordt aangegeven met A] B] ).

©Draai de schroef @naar rechts

richting van de klok) en beide knoppen

hebben dezelfde functie.

(Aangegeven met [AB] ).

Kiest ude[A](B] stand en gebruikt ude

spetregelaar bij een spel ontworpen voor één

actie-knop, dan is alleen knop ©(boven op de

stuurknuppel ingeschakeld.

Het afstellen van de stuurknuppel

De stuurknuppel kan op twee verschilende

manieren worden ingesteld om tegemoet te

komen aan uw persoonlijke voorkeur of de aard

van het spel dat uspeelt:

Het instellen van de contact-hoek

Als ude instelknop ©rechtsom draait, wordt

‘de contacthoek kleiner. Het betekent, dat de

vrije slag kleiner wordt en de stuurknuppel

dus sneller contact maakt.

Draai de instelschroef © inksom en de

contacthoek wordt groter. De vrije slag

wordt dus groter en de stuurknuppel maakt

dus minder gauw contact.

Het instellen van de bewegingshoek

De stuurknuppel bestaat uit twee delen, die

ten opzichte van elkaar gedraaid kunnen

worden

Aan de onderzijde van het bovenste dea! ziet u

een markering ©

Aan de bovenste rand van het

onderste gedeelte drie merk

tekentjes ©: T, TT en TTT

Plaatst ude markering ©tegenover het

merktekentje 'T ,dan heeft de stuurknuppel

een heel beperkte bewegingsvrijheid. Plaatst u

het daarentegen tegenover tekentje TTT ‚dan

heeft de stuurknuppel zijn maximale

bewegingsvrijheid. All drie standen hebben

een kik-stop.

Attentie:

Umoet er natuurlijk wel op toezien, dat de

contacthoek binnen het bereik van de

‘bewegingsruimte van de stuurknuppel valt!

Doet udat niet, dan functioneert de

stuurknuppel niet.

Een advies

Het verdient aanbeveling watte experimenteren

met deze unieke spelregelaar om uite vinden

welke insteling uhet beste bevalt. Het kan ook

heel goed zijn, dat ubij de verschilende spellen

een andere insteling wit gebruiken
