My Philips Garment steamer does not
produce steam
When your Philips Garment Steamer (handheld or stand steamer) does not produce steam, there
could be several causes. Learn more here.
First time use
The first time you use your garment steamer, it might not produce steam right away as there is no
water in the system yet. Do not worry. This is normal and will only happen the first time you use
it.
Please press the steam trigger for one minute. This will promote water circulation and the
production of steam.
The steamer has not heated up sufficiently
Your garment steamer requires heating before steaming. Please allow it to heat up for 45 to 60
seconds before using it (the steam-ready blue light will flash).
When the steamer has heated up and is ready for use, the blue light will stop flashing.
There is no water (or low water level) in the tank
If the tank is empty, your Philips Garment Steamer will not be able to produce steam.
Please refill the water tank.
The water tank is not inserted properly
If the water tank is not properly inserted, your garment steamer might not be able to produce
steam.
Please remove the water tank and insert it again correctly.
There is condensation in the stand steamer's hose
When you hold your Philips Garment Steamer horizontally, condensation is created in the hose
and this can block the steam flow. Due to this, your garment steamer could stop steaming or
could start steaming intermittently.
To solve this, lift up your stand steamer’s head to straighten the hose vertically and hold your
steamer in an upright position: This will allow any condensation and steam to flow again. After
this, your stand steamer should produce steam again.
Too much scale has built up in the stand steamer
When scale builds up in your Philips Stand Steamer, it might not be able to produce steam.
Please perform the de-calc process detailed in the following lines:
1) Switch off and unplug your stand steamer and allow it to cool down for an hour.
2) Bring the steamer to a sink.
3) Locate the de-calc knob (you will find it on the lower area of the water tank).
4) Turn the de-calc knob anti-clockwise to unlock it.
5) Pull the de-calc knob out and let the water drain.
6) Once all water is drained, push the de-calc knob back in and turn it clockwise to lock it.
The handheld steamer is held horizontally
(Note: The following does not apply if you own a 2-in-1 Philips Steamer)
Your Philips Handheld Steamer is designed to be used vertically. When it is positioned
horizontally, the water from the tank might not flow freely.
To prevent this, please hold your handheld steamer vertically while using it.

My Philips Garment Steamer leaves stains on
the garment
If your Philips Garment Steamer leaves stains, or you notice impurities coming out from it, there
might be a simple solution. Just read along.
The steamer needs to be descaled
If your steamer is not descaled regularly, it is normal for scale to build up in your garment
steamer, and this can cause it to release some impurities or produce stains.
To solve this, you should descale your steamer.
The descaling process depends on your product and series. Please find here all descaling

Perfumed water in the steamer
Perfumed water can produce stains in your garments.
We recommend that you only use tap, demineralised or filtered water when filling up your
garment steamer's water tank.

My Philips iron or garment steamer causes a
power failure on mains
If your Philips iron or your garment steamer causes a power failure, find out here what you can
do to solve the issue.
The iron/steamer is not properly plugged in
Check if the connection to the household power is loose or not properly plugged in.
The power cord is damaged
Check the power cord for visible signs of damage.
Too many appliances are plugged into the same socket
The failure could be caused by over current in your mains power. Unplug the other appliances
and switch on the iron or steamer again.
None of the above solved it
If you checked all of the above and your iron or steamer still produces a power failure, then

Head of my Philips Stand Garment Steamer
drips water
If the head of your Philips stand garment steamer drips water, there may be various possible
causes. Find out how to resolve this here.
The head and/or hose is in a horizontal position
When your hose is in a horizontal position, there might be condensation in it that cannot flow
back into the water tank, and this might cause the head to drip water.
Please lift the head of your stand steamer up in order to allow condensation to flow back into the
tank.
The hose is forming a U shape
When the hose forms a U-shape, condensation in the hose cannot flow back into the water tank,
and this can cause the head of the steamer to drip water.
Please straighten the hose and lift the head of your stand steamer up so condensation can flow
back into the tank.
Heavy usage
Note: This only applies to Philips steamers with AirStretch technology (these steamers have a
grill in the head as shown in the image below).
If you have been using your stand steamer heavily for a long time, water condensation may
occur. When this happens, water will drip from the head.
To solve this, first let your steamer cool down. Then, remove the grille and press a dry cloth
against the black surface to remove the condensed water.
My Philips stand garment steamer produces
a croaking sound
Find out what could be causing a croaking sound coming from your Philips stand garment
steamer below.
The head or hose is horizontally positioned
When the hose is horizontal, condensation in your steamer’s hose might not flow back into the
tank. This can cause a croaking sound.
In this case, please lift up the head of your stand steamer. This will allow condensation to flow
back into the tank.
The hose is forming a U shape
Condensation might not be able to flow into the water tank if your stand steamer’s hose is
forming a U shape. A croaking sound can be produced because of this.
If this is the case, please re-position the hose, making sure it is straight, and lift up the head so
condensation can flow back into the tank.
