Introduction

Software version: V7.16S

Benefits:

1. Your MCD900 now supports Russian, simplified Chinese as well as traditional Chinese

language.

2. The USB hard disc drive (HDD) now has a “Safe Removal” feature. Before removing your

hard drive, press the “home” button on the remote for 2 seconds. The MCD900 will

provide a message when the device has been stopped allowing for safe removal of the hard

disc.

3. The scanning performance of the HDD has been improved. After the first scanning the

contents of your HDD, your hard disc will only be re-scanned when you change the content.

(Please note –the first scan of the content may take a significant amount of time due to

background processing).

4. The FM tuner stability has been improved for stations which provide fast changing RDS text.

Software Version Verification Procedure

1. In active mode, press the SETTINGS button on the remote control.

2. Press to select Information, press OK.

3. Press to highlight Software version: and the display will scroll to indicate the

current software version your device is having.

How do I update the software on my device?

1. Download the new firmware image from www.p4c.philips.com

2. Unzip the downloaded file and copy the content to a USB-flash memory (stick) into the root

directory. (The USB-memory shall be with file format FAT-32). Do not rename any of the

files!

3. Insert the USB-memory stick into the MCD900 unit (socket is at the units backside)

4. In active mode, press the SETTINGS button on your device remote control.

5. Press to select Check for software upgrades, press OK.

6. It will then check on the USB-memory stick whether there is newer software available or

not.

If there is a newer one, the screen would show:

New software is available for

your product. Do you wish to

install the software (see manual

for conditions)?

7. Click Yes to start upgrading the firmware of MCD900

8. After the upgrade has finished, device will restart and you can then enjoy the device again.

Software update History

Version 6.19S: 2nd Improvement Firmware Release.

Version 3.21S or 3.00S: Initial Software version.
