SNAZ network attached file servers
The SNAZ family of network attach file servers (Network Attached
Storage or NAS) provide robust and easily managed file serving for
departmental, branch office and medium sized company
applications.
SNAZ S4-350 and S8-350 systems featuring Intel Xeon 2.4GHz
processor and were shipped between March 2005 and September
2005.
•S4-350 is a 1U rack mount unit with 4 drive bays offering user
storage of between 750GB and 1.5TB of usable RAID 5 storage
•S8-350 is a 2U rack mount unit with 8 drive bays offering user
storage of up to 2TB (Usable Capacity using RAID 5). For larger
capacity requirements, the associated 2U SNAZ Expansion
extends the S8-350 capacity to 4TB and 6TB of usable RAID 5
storage.
SNAZ S4-400 and S12-400 system featuring Intel Pentium4 3.4GHz
processor began shipping Summer 2006.
•The S4-400 is a compact and extremely cost effective NAS filer
that incorporates many of the advanced features found in the
more scalable S12-400. The S4-400 is based on a slim 1U
enclosure that accommodates up to four high capacity SATA II
disk drives, providing 750GB or 1.5TB of usable RAID-5 storage

•The S12-400 is Plasmon's scalable NAS filer with a
comprehensive range of backup and data protection features
in an easy to deploy solution. The space efficient 2U design
supports up to 12 high capacity SATA II disk drives in a single
enclosure. Responding to the relentless growth of data, the
flexible S12-400 architecture provides storage capacities
ranging from 1TB to 4TB in one enclosure with support for two
additional expansion enclosures that offer a maximum usable
system capacity of 12TB.

•SNAZ OS v4 is a dedicated Linux based, XFS journaled
operating system for fast, reliable operation
•Windows CIFS and UNIX NFS support enable file sharing
between Window, Linux and UNIX users
•Dual Gigabit Ethernet (with teaming and failover) connection
to the network(s)
•Powerful - supports many simultaneous client users
•RAID 5 fault tolerance is standard with administrator
configurable RAID 0, 1
•Hot swappable SATA disk drives and selectable hot spare disk(s)
for resilient operation
•Browser based SNAZ Manager, gives easy installation and
ongoing management with extensive context sensitive online
help
•Convenient user storage management capabilities such as
Group and User Quotas and online volume expansion
•Easy integration with Windows Active Directory as well as
configurable stand alone User and File acccess rights
•Powerful, built-in BakBone NetVault backup utility ensures
extensive compatibility with tape drives, autoloaders and
libraries and flexible backup
•Snapshot important data to a separate volume for almost
instantaneous backup
•Replicate between SNAZ units with SNAZ RepliFile for data
protection.
