Preface

How to Use This Manual

The manual describes how to configure WEBS-21D0 system to meet various

operating requirements. It is divided into five chapters, with each chapter addressing

a basic concept and operation of the Fan-less Embedded System.

Chapter 1: System Overview. Present what may have in the box and give a whole

picture of the product specifications and basic system architecture for this fan-less

embedded system.

Chapter 2: System Installation. Show the definitions and locations of all the

interfaces and describe a proper installation guide so that can easily configure the

system.

Chapter 3: BIOS Setup Information. Specify the meaning of each setup parameters,

how to get advanced BIOS performance. In addition, POST checkpoint list will give

users some guidelines of trouble-shooting.

Chapter 4: Important Instructions. Indicate some instructions which must be

carefully followed when the fan-less embedded system is used.

Chapter 5: Frequent Asked Questions. Provide the answers for the most frequently

asked questions.

Chapter 1

System Overview

1.1 Introduction

Portwell Inc., a world-leading innovator in the Industrial PC (IPC) market and a

Associate Member of the Intel®Internet of Things (IoT) Solutions Alliance,

announced WEBS-21D0, a fan-less embedded system. Builds on Intel®Apollo Lake

SoC and takes advantages of Intel®Atom®E3900 Series processor technologies,

WEBS-21D0 features especially its compact design plus low power consumption.

WEBS-21D0 designed by Portwell is equipped with NANO-6062, a Nano-ITX form

factor embedded board based on the Intel®Atom®processor E3900 series, which

integrates the low power Intel®Gen9 graphics engine with up to 18 execution units

that improves 3D graphics performance and supports faster 4K encode and decode

operations.

The compact WEBS-21D0 embedded system also features DDR3L SO-DIMM up to

8GB supporting 1866/1600 MT/s; dual USB 3.0 ports (up to four as optional); one

DisplayPort (DP) on rear I/O with resolution up to 4096 x 2160; one legacy VGA

interface support; one smart COM port for RS-232/422/485 selected by BIOS; and

multiple storage with 2.5”HDD/SSD, mSATA as well as micro SD card. In addition,

the compact 150mm x 150mm x 66mm chassis platform integrates one M.2 type E

interface, which provides wireless connectivity such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and one

mini PCIe interfaces (co-lay with mSATA) to offer more expandable functionalities.

The ruggedized, fan-less design makes WEBS-21D0 durable in harsh environment

applications, such as factory automation, IoT gateway, kiosk, digital signage and

transportation. Passed a vibration test of 5Grma/10~500Hz and a shock test of 50G,

Portwell’s WEBS-21D0 is more than a robust and dependable embedded system with

high performance and graphic efficiency. In addition, the system accepts 12~24V

input voltage, making it a suitable solution in many industrial fields. Its stylish

mechanical design enhances the system’s artistry.

1.2 Check List

Chapter 2

System Installation

This chapter presents instructions to set up your system. To define and point out

all of the interfaces locations described; so that, it’s easy to configure your system

with whole picture. For more detailed PIN assignment and jumper setting, please

refer to user’s manual of NANO-6062.

2.1 HDD Installation

Please refer to following steps, how to install and maintain the 2.5”HDD/SSD.

Step 1. Loosen 4 screws from back cover

Step 2. Take off back cover

Step 3. Loosen 4 screws of the

bracket

Step 4. Take off the bracket

Step 5. Tighten 2.5”HDD/SSD in the

bracket with certain screws (Please mind

the connector direction)

Step 6. Tighten these screws from Step

3. for holding bracket on the back cover,

and connect the SATA cable

Step 7. Reinstall the back cover

Step 8. Tighten up the screws
