BEFORE FIRST USE
1. BecomefamiliarwiththeMyJo™coffeemakerparts(Fig.A)andreadthefollowing
information.
2. Unscrewthebasefromthereservoir.Thenpulloutthepumpfromthereservoirand
removeallcontentsfrominsidethereservoir.
3. Washthecoffeemakerpartsinwarm,soapywater.Rinsethoroughlytoremoveany
soapresidue.Do not wash the MyJo™coffee maker in the dishwasher.
Caution!Thereisasharpneedleinthepackholderwhichisdesignedtopuncture
thesingleservepack.Topreventinjury,donotplacengersinthepackholder.
HOW TO USE
To prepare coffee or tea, follow the instructions below.
(To prepare hot cocoa and other beverages, refer to the instructions on page 3 before
beginning.)
TheamountofwaterusedwithyourMyJo™coffeemakerwilldeterminethestrength
ofyourcoffeeortea.Fortherstuse,llthewaterreservoirtothelllinessuggested
below:
•Fornormalstrengthcoffeeortea,lltothe8-ouncelinewithwater.
•Forstrongercoffeeortea,lltothe6-ouncelinewithwater.
•Forweakercoffeeortea,lltothe10-ouncelinewithwater.
Forsubsequentuses,adjustthestrength,ifnecessary,bysimplyincreasingordecreasingtheamountofwaterasdesired.
NOTE: Thelllinemarkingsprovidethenecessarywatertoproduce6,8,and10ouncesofbrewedcoffeeortea.
1. Place a single serve pack into the pack holder (Fig. B).Pressdownrmlyonthesingleservepackun-
tilthebottomofthepackispunctured.Caution!Thereisasharpneedleinthepackholder.Toprevent
injury,donotplacengersinthepackholder.
2. Heat the water and assemble the unit using one of the following methods:
A. Microwave:
• Fillthewaterreservoirwiththedesiredamountofwater.
• Placethelledreservoirinthemicrowave.Be sure the base is not attached to the reservoir, as the
base is not microwave safe.Heatthewatertothedesiredtemperature.Caution!Whenhandlingthereservoircontaininghot
water,alwaysgrasptheredgripastheotherportionsofthereservoirwillbeveryhot.
• Pushthepumpcapontothetopofthepump.
• Attachthepumptothereservoir.Inserttheridgedportionofthepumpintothereservoir,pressingaroundthepumpedgeuntil
thepumpisattachedrmlytothereservoir.IMPORTANT:Pressonlythepumpedge.Donotpressthepumpcaporpump.
• Grasptheredgriponthelledreservoirandplacethereservoirontothebase.Screwonclockwiseuntiltight.
B. Tea Kettle:
• Useanelectricorstovetopteakettleandheatwatertothedesiredtemperature.
• Attachthebasetothereservoirpriortollingitwithwater.Screwthereservoironclockwiseuntiltight.Then,placetheunit
onadry,levelsurfaceandcarefullyllthereservoirwiththedesiredamountofheatedwater.Caution!Donotholdontothe
reservoirwhenpouringhotwaterintoit.
• Pushthepumpcapontothetopofthepump.
• Attachthepumptothereservoir.Inserttheridgedportionofthepumpintothereservoir,pressingaroundthepumpedgeuntil
thepumpisattachedrmlytothereservoir.IMPORTANT:Pressonlythepumpedge.Donotpressthepumpcaporpump.
3. Brew
•TheMyJo™coffeemakerisdesignedtotonmostcoffeemugs.Verifythatyourmugistherightsizebeforepumpingyourcoffee.
Theribsonthebottomofthebaseshouldtwithintheinsiderimofyourmug.Thediameteroftheinnerrimofthemugshouldbe
atleast2¼˝butnotmorethan3¾˝wide.Youshouldalsomakesureyouselectamugwhichistheappropriatesizefortheamount
ofcoffeeorteayouarebrewing.

•Placetheassembledcoffeemakerovertheselectedcoffeemug.
•Positionthecoffeemakerandmugdirectlyinfrontofyou.Graspthecoffeemakerbasewithonehand
andplacethepalmofyourotherhandonthepumpcap(Fig.C).Ifusingatalltravelmug,graspthetop
portionofthemuginsteadofthecoffeemakerbase.
NOTE: Anothermethodforpumpingthewaterisbyplacingonehandovertheother(Fig.D).However,
donotusethismethodwhenusingtallmugs,suchastravelmugs.
•Usingthepalmofyourhand,graduallypressdownonthepumpcap,keepingyourhanddownuntilthe
coffeeorteaceasestoow.Releaseandallowthepumptoreturntotheoriginalpositionandpressdown
again.Repeatthisprocessuntilallthewaterisexpelledthroughthesingleservepackandintoyourcoffee
mug.Youwillhearaswooshwhenallofthewaterhasbeenexpelled.
• Liftthecoffeemakeroffthecoffeemugandplacethe
coffeemakeronaplateorinthesinktocatchany
residualdrops.
•Enjoyyourfreshbrewedcoffeeortea!
To Prepare Hot Cocoa and Other Beverages
WhenusingyourMyJo™coffeemakertoprepareotherbeverages,suchashotcocoa,cappuccino,orhotcider,
BEFOREinsertingthesingleservepackintotheholder,placethebaseoveryourmug.Thiswillallowany
powderresiduetobecontainedinyourmugoncethepackispuncturedsincethesetypesofsingleservebeveragesdonothavealter.
Fortherstuse,llthewaterreservoirtothe6-ounceline.Forsubsequentuses,adjusttheamountofwaterasdesired.
CARE AND CLEANING
1. Unscrewthebasefromthereservoir.Turnthebaseoveranduseyourngertopushthebottomoftheusedsingleservepackout
oftheholder.Discardthepack.Caution!Thereisasharpneedleinthepackholder.Topreventinjury,donotplacengersinthe
packholder.
2. Pullthepumpoffofthereservoirandwashthepump,reservoir,andbaseinwarm,soapywater.Rinse
anddry.Do not wash the MyJo™coffee maker in the dishwasher.
3.Thereisasiliconevalvelocatedintheinsidebottomofthereservoir.Ifyounoticethevalvecontains
coffeegroundsorresidue,youshouldremoveitforcleaning.Theeasiestwaytodothisisbygently
pokingthevalveatananglefromunderneaththereservoirwithabluntobject(Fig.E),suchasaQ-tip*
cottonswabortheeraserendofapencil.
NOTE:Thereisaslitinthecenterofthevalvesopushgentlyontheouteredgeofthevalve.Washthe
valveinwarm,soapywater.
Rinseandrepositionthevalveintheinsidebottomofthereservoir.Usethetipofyourindexngeror
ngernailtopresstheouteredgetightlyinthegrooveontheoorofthereservoir.
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS (Troubleshooting)
Water is seeping out between the base and reservoir. What is happening?
Youprobablydonothavethebasescrewedontightlytothewaterreservoir.Tightenandrellthereservoirwithwater.
I notice water is leaking out of the reservoir when it’s not attached to the base. Why?
Thereareacoupleofthingsthatmaybecausingthis:
•Thereisasiliconevalvelocatedintheinsidebottomofthereservoir.Thevalvemaynotbeseatedproperly.Usethetipofyourindex
ngeroryourngernailtopressaroundtheedgeofthevalvesoittssnuglyintothegrooveontheoorofthereservoir.
•Thevalvemaybedirty.Removethevalvefromthereservoirandcleanitasinstructedaboveinstep3ofthe“CareandCleaning”
section.
When I press down on the pump nothing seems to be happening. What am I doing wrong?
Youmaynothavethepumpfullyattachedtothereservoirandairisescaping.Besuretopressallthewayaroundthepumpedgesothe
ridgedportion(seeFig.A,page2)isfullyengagedinsidethereservoirrim.
Youalsomaynotbeapplyingenoughpressureasyouarepumping.Standsoyouaredirectlyoverthecoffeemakerandpressonthe
pump.Holdthepumpdownuntilthecoffeeceasestoow,releaseandallowthepumptoreturntoitsoriginalposition,andrepeat
process.

Can I use any brand single serve pack in the MyJo™coffee maker?
Yes.AnypackthatworksintheKeurig*K-Cup*systembrewer(includingpacksthathavemeshbottoms)willworkintheMyJo™coffee
maker.Vue*andRivo*packsdonotworkinKeurig*K-Cup*brewersandwillnotworkintheMyJo™either.Differentbrandpacksvary
inconstruction.Somehaveverythinplasticwallsthatbecomedeformedifboilingwaterisused.Othershaveverythininteriorlters,
whichworkwellwithagentlepumpingpressure,butmaybreakwhensubjectedtoheavypressure.Stillothershaveveryrigidtopsof
varyingthickness,makingthemdifculttopierce.
Ifyouexperienceunusualdifcultypumpingandthewaterinthevesselhasturnedbrown,youhaveapackwithathinlterthathas
brokenunderpressure.Discardtheliquid,cleantheunit,andstartagain,thistimeapplyingagentlesteadypressure.
Ifthewaterisclear,verifythatthetopandbottomofthepackarepierced.Carefullyunscrewthereservoirfromthebase.Forpackswith
plasticbottoms,pushdowntoensurethebottomispierced.Checkthetop.Ifyoudonotseeasmallholeinthemiddle,makeonewith
aknife.Reassembleandresumepumping.
Sometimes, I prefer to use my own coffee grounds rather than a single serve pack. Is there a rellable lter cup that I can use
with the MyJo™coffee maker?
