Use in Connection with the V-Mixer
The R-1000 supports remote control from the V-Mixer. It is possible to remote control the following functions of the R-1000 from
the V-Mixer.
• Start/stop playback
• Start/stop recording
• Fast forward/rewind
• Set the A point and the B point during A/B repeat playback
• Jump to the location where the playback was started (CALL)
• Play mode selection
• Add marker/delete marker/edit marker name
• Track status setup
• Virtual preamp setup
• Input/output patchbay setup
• Load song/delete song/edit song name

If the software version of your V-Mixer unit is earlier than below, it is not possible to remotely control the R-1000. Confirm the software version of
your V-Mixer unit prior to connecting the R-1000.

Use in Connection with the V-Mixer
You can record the output of your V-Mixer by connecting the R-1000 to the REAC SPLIT jack of your V-Mixer. In this scenario you
will also need to connect the MIDI IN and MIDI OUT cables as shown.

The sampling rate of your R-1000 recording project must match the sampling rate of your V-Mixer. If the sampling rates are not matched, your
recording will not work properly.

Remote control setup on the R-1000
To remotely control the R-1000 in the scenario shown above, make the following settings in your R-1000.
Parameter Value

Remote control setup on the V-Mixer
If you're using the V-Mixer to control the R-1000 as shown above, use the following settings.

Set REAC mode to [SLAVE].
Remote controlling the recording
Open the popup screen on the V-Mixer to remotely control the R-1000.
Track settings
Open the recording patchbay of the R-1000 from the V-Mixer. Assign input 1 through 40 coming in from REAC port A on the R-
1000 to recording tracks 1 through 40. In this configuration, the R-1000 will be recording the 40 sources that are assigned in the V-
Mixer's REAC A Output patchbay. These outputs will become inputs to the R-1000's tracks. NOTE: Because the R-1000 is being
used as a Split location, it will not be able to play tracks back into the V-Mixing system; it will record only.
* It is easy to assign these channels using the auto map function. Use [F-7] of the V-Mixer’s function button to call up the auto map function.

Start recording on the R-1000
Arm/Select the recording tracks of the R-1000 from the V-Mixer and start recording.

Here is one example of how you can record from your V-Mixer and play back into the V-Mixer system by connecting your R-1000
as shown below.
• Recording The R-1000 records up to 40 channels of audio from the V-Mixer’s REAC B port.
• Playback The audio coming out from R-1000’s playback tracks 1 through 40 will go in to the V-Mixer’s REAC B port.

The sampling rate of your R-1000 recording project must match the sampling rate of your V-Mixer. If the sampling rates are not matched, your
recording will not work properly.
If you have set the R-1000's clock source to [WORD CLOCK], the sampling frequency of the R-1000 and the V-Mixer must match the sampling
frequency of your external clock source.

To remotely control the R-1000 in the scenario shown above, make the following settings in your R-1000.

* If [WORD CLOCK] or [VIDEO SYNC] is selected as clock source of the R-1000, set the REAC SETUP value to [EXT. CLOCK with V-MIXER].

Remote control setup on the V-Mixer
If you're using the V-Mixer to control the R-1000 as shown above, use the following settings.

• OUTPUT PATCHBAY Assign up to 40 sources to record to the R-1000 in the V-Mixer's REAC B OUTPUT patchbay.
• INPUT PATCHBAY Assign up to 40 R-1000 tracks to play back from the R-1000 into the V-Mixer in the REAC B INPUT patchbay.
• CONTROL TARGET REAC B
* If REAC SETUP of the R-1000 is [EXT. CLOCK with V-MIXER], select [FOH B (External Clock)] as the V-Mixer’s REAC SETUP.

Set REAC mode to [SLAVE].
Remote controlling the recording/playback
Open the popup screen on the V-Mixer to remote control the R-1000.
Track settings
Open the R-1000 patchbay. We're using the REAC A port of the R-1000 so we'll assign input and outputs as shown below.
• Recording Assign the R-1000’s REAC A inputs 1 through 40 on the R-1000 to recording tracks 1 through 40.
• Playback Assign playback tracks 1 through 40 to the R-1000’s REAC A outputs 1 through 40.

Arm/Select tracks via remote control from the V-Mixer and start recording/playback.

Use in Connection with the V-Mixer
You can connect the R-1000 inline between your digital snake units and your V-Mixer to record and play back audio.
• Recording The R-1000 records audio from the inputs of the digital snake units. The audio channels from the digital snake units will also be
throughput to the V-Mixer's A and B ports.
• Playback Tracks played back in the R-1000 will be routed to the REAC A and REAC B ports of the V-Mixer.
In this scenario, you can use the virtual preamp function of the R-1000 to adjust track playback volume using the preamp gain
controls of your V-Mixer. Any adjustments are reflected in the digital snake units preamp.

The sampling rate of your R-1000 recording project must match the sampling rate of your V-Mixer. If the sampling rates are not matched, your
recording will not work properly.
If you have set the R-1000's clock source to [WORD CLOCK], the samplig frequency of the R-1000 and the V-Mixer must match the sampling
frequency of your external clock source.

Clock)].

Remote controlling the recording/playback
Open the popup screen on the V-Mixer to remotely control the R-1000.
Track settings
Open the R-1000 patchbay and assign channels/tracks as shown below. In this scenario, we'll be patching inputs from the digital
snake units (connected to REAC C and D) to record directly from them. We'll be patching the R-1000 track outputs to the V-Mixer
(REAC A and B).
• Recording Assign Inputs (1-16) of REAC C port to recording tracks 1 through 16.
Assign input (1-16) of REAC D port to recording tracks 17 through 32.
• Playback Assign playback tracks 1-16 to outputs 1 through 16 of REAC A port.
Assign playback tracks 17-32 to outputs 1 through 16 of REAC B port
* It is easy to assign these channels using the auto map function. Use [F-7] of the V-Mixer’s function button to call up the auto map function.

Start recording/playback on the R-1000
Arm/Select tracks and set virtual preamp via remote control from the V-Mixer. Then start recording/playback.

During playback, you can turn off the PLAY buttons of any playback tracks and allow the live performer to perform along with the other tracks.
Just make sure their microphones are patched to the corresponding inputs of the R-1000.

About preamp gain control from an external device
In this scenario, the V-Mixer will maintain control over the preamps of the digital snake units. When playing back a recorded R-
1000 project, the V-Mixer preamp gain control will adjust the playback volume of the various R-1000 tracks.
Signal flow - audio signal and control signal
These diagrams show audio signal flow and control data flow in the R-1000 during record and playback.
• Audio signal during recording or stopping

The V-Mixer will adjust the preamp gain on a one-to-one basis; ajusting the gain of REAC A channel 1 will adjust the gain of input 1 of whatever
digital snake unit is connected to REAC C.
