1.Antenna SwitchModule(U100)

The antenna switchmodule allowsmultiple operating bandsand modestosharethe same antenna.Acommon

antenna connectsto one of five paths:1)UMTS-2100 Rx/Tx,2)EGSM-900 Rx,3)EGSM-900 Tx,4)DCS-1800 Rx,

and 5)DCS-1800 Tx.UMTSoperation requires simultaneousreception and transmission.

2.Filter

ToconvertElectromagneticFieldWavetoAcousticWave and then pass the specificfrequency band.

-GSMRxFILTER(F100)→Forfiltering the frequency band between 925 ~960 MHz.

-DCSRxFILTER(F101)→Forfiltering the frequency band 1805 and 1880 MHz.

-WCDMARxFILTER(F200)→Forfiltering the frequency band 2110 and 2170 MHz.

-WCDMATxFILTER(F201)→Forfiltering the frequency band 1920 and 1980 MHz.

3.VCTCXO(OSC200)

To generatethe 19.2MHzreferenceclock to drivethe logicand RF.

4.Duplexer (F202)

Aduplexersplitsasingle operating band intoreceive and transmitpaths.

5.WCDMA PAM(U201)

Thisisakey componentinthe transmitterchain and mustcomplement the RTR6200 ICprecisely;jointlythey

dominatethe UMTStransmitterperformancecharacteristics.Parameters such asgain,outputpowerlevel,ACLR,

harmonics,Rx-band noise,and powersupply currentarecritical.

6.GSM/DCS PAM(U102)

The PAMisakey componentin anytransmitterchain and mustcomplement the restof the transmitterprecisely.

ForGSMand DCSoperation, the closed-loop transmitpowercontrolfunctionsadd even morerequirementsrelative

tothe UMTS PA. In addition to gaincontroland switching requirements, the usualRFparameters such asgain,

outputpowerlevel,severaloutputspectrumrequirements,and powersupply currentarecritical.

7.GSM/DCSDualTxVCO(OSC100)

The dualTxVCOoutputs, one forEGSMand one forDCS,drive a resistive networkthatsplitsthe activesignal

intotwosignals:1)the input tothe activePAM–thisisthe lowloss path, and 2)the OPLL feedback signal.

8.DualVCO(OSC201)

The dual-band UHFVCOisakey componentwithinitsphase-locked loop;VCOperformance directlyimpactsPLL

and transceiverperformance.GSM/DCSRx/TxLO&UMTSRxLOsignal isgenerated fromthisdualVCO'soutput.

9.RFL6200 (U200)

The RFL6200 includesan LNAcircuitoptimized forUMTS-2100 operation. The LNAis separated fromall other

receivefunctions contained withinthe RFR6200 receiverICtoimprovemixerLOtoRFisolation –acritical

parameterinthe Zero-IFarchitecture.

The RFR6200 acceptsitsUMTSinputsignalfromthe handsetRFfront-end design.The UMTSinputis configured

differentiallyto optimizesecond-orderinter-modulation and common mode rejection performance, and implements

MSM-controlled gain adjustmentsto extend the receiverdynamicrange.

11.RTR6200 (U101)

The RTR6200 supportsmulti-band,multi-mode phoneswithtworeceiversignalpathsand three transmittersignal

paths:

1)Receiverpaths

-EGSM-900

-DCS-1800

2)Transmitterpaths

-EGSM-900 (using OPLL technique)

-DCS-1800 (using OPLL technique)

-UMTS-2100

Numerous secondaryfunctionsareintegrated on-chip aswell:

3)Phase-locked loop circuits
