! Before operating your new appliance please read

this instruction booklet carefully. It contains

important information for safe use, installation and

care of the appliance.

! Please keep these operating instructions for

future reference. Pass them on to possible new

owners of the appliance.

Positioning

! Keep packaging material out of the reach of

children. It can become a choking or suffocation

hazard (see Precautions and tips)

! This appliance shall be installed only by

authorised personnel and in accordance with the

manufacturer’s installation instructions, local gas

fitting regulations, municipal building codes, water

supply regulations, electrical wiring regulations,

AS 5601/AG 601 - Gas Installations and any other

statutory regulations.

! Ventilation - Ventilation must be in accordance

with AS5601/AG 601 - Gas Installations. In

general, the appliance should have adequate

ventilation for complete combustion of gas, proper

flueing and to maintain temperature of immediate

surrounding within safe limits.

Positioning - The appliance can be fitted into a

working area as illustrated on the corresponding

figure. Apply the seal provided over the whole of

the area perimeter.

Combustible Surfaces - Any adjoining surface

situated within 200mm from the edge of any hob

burner must be a suitable non-combustable

material for a height of 150mm for the entire

length of the hob. Any combustible construction

above the hotplate must be at least 600mm above

the top of the burner and no construction shall be

within 450mm above the top of the burner. A

minimum depth of 60mm from the top of the

worktop surface must be provided for the

appliance.

Access to base - Where the base of the hotplate

can be accidentally touched, such as through a

cupboard or a pot drawer, a panel should be fixed

15mm below the base of the hotplate to prevent

accidental contact. The base of the hotplate is

very hot during operation.

Data Label - The Data Label is located on the

underside of the appliance. A duplicate label is

supplied to adhere in an accessible area adjacent

to the appliance. This appliance is suitable for

Natural and Propane Gas; ensure the available

gas supply matches the data label.

Gas connection - The Gas Connection is male

1/2” BSP and is situated 50mm from the right,

50mm from the rear of the hotplate and 25mm

below the top surface of the bench top.

There are two ways to carry out the connection to

the main gas line:

A. The hotplate can be connected with rigid

pipe as specified in AS5601 table 3.1.

B. The hotplate can be connected with a

Flexible Hose, which complies with

AS/NZS 1869 (AGA Approved), 10mm

ID, class B or D, no more than 1.2m long

and in accordance with AS5601

Ensure that the Hose does not contact the hot

surfaces of the hotplate, oven, dishwasher or

other appliance that may be installed underneath

or next to the hotplate.

The hose should not be subjected to abrasion,

kinking or permanent deformation and should be

able to be inspected along its entire length. Unions

compatible with the hose fittings must be used and

connections tested for gas leaks. The supply

connection point shall be accessible with the

appliance installed.

When the installation has been carried out, check

the perfect sealing of the entire connection

system, by using soapy solution.

Power Connection - Simply plug into a 3 pin

household socket outlet which is properly earthed.

Warning: In order to avoid hazard, any electrical

work performed on this equipment or its

associated wiring, should only be done by persons

Installation

Make sure you take all the necessary precautions

to guarantee proper installation in compliance with

the applicable regulations.

All surfaces adjacent to the cabinet and the back

panel should be made of materials resistant to a

temperature of 65 °C.

1. Built-in hobs to be slotted in (see fig. 2,

detail H1). In this case it is necessary to

make a hole in the worktop whose

measurements match those of the hob.

The measurement at the side should be

reduced by 10 mm for horizontal sides

and 6 mm for vertical sides, in order to

ensure that 10 mm of the hob perimeter

overlaps with and rests on top of the

supporting surface for horizontal sides

(this figure should be 6 mm for vertical

sides, see fig. 4a-4b). To slot in the hob

flush with the worktop, the cut-out on this

supporting surface must be lowered, so

that both the edge of the hob and the seal

under it can be positioned there. Before

fitting the hob to the worktop, position the

seal provided along the perimeter of the

hob, as illustrated in Fig. 5. Brackets for

fixing worktops to the cabinet have been

provided, and these should be fitted as

shown in detail S (Fig. 3).

2. Built-in hobs with edges lower than 88

mm (see figure 2, detail H2); to install this

type of hob, a hole large enough to

accommodate the whole lower casing of

the appliance must be made on the

worktop intended to be under the hob.

Remember to leave a gap of at least 1 cm

between the lower casing and the

worktop around the whole perimeter of

the appliance (the underside of the casing

can, however, touch the surface below it).

To fit the appliances, follow the

instructions given above in point 1 or use

any supplementary instruction leaflet that

is provided in special cases.

3. Sit-on hobs with edges higher than 88

mm (see figure 2, detail H3). In this case,

the lower casing of the hob does not

protrude further than the edge of the

appliance. Even when the hob is resting

on the worktop, it will suffice to leave

space for the gas supply tube and

electricity supply cable.

fig.1

Securing the appliance to the cabinet

There are 3 different methods for installation of

the appliance:

fig.2

N.B.: If the appliance is installed above an oven, a wooden panel must be fitted underneath the

hob as insulation. It should be fixed at least 20 mm away from the hob casing.

The appliance must be fitted to the kitchen cabinets using suitable fixing accessories (these are

provided) which may vary according to the type of installation required and the proportions of the

appliance.

Electrical Connection

The hobs come equipped with a 3 pin plug and

power cable. The plug and power cable comply

with Australian requirements. Please check the

power rating, voltage and frequency indicated on

the data plate (located on the bottom of the hob

as well as on the front cover of this manual).

If the appliance is to be installed above an electric

built-in electric oven, the electrical connection to

the hob and oven must be carries out separately,

both for electrical safety purposes and to make it

easier to remove the oven.

The supply cable must not come into contact with

surfaces higher than 50°C.

! The installer must ensure the electrical

connection has been made and is compliant with

AS/NZS 3000 wiring rules.

Before connecting to the power supply, make sure

that:

•The appliance is earthed and the plug is

compliant with the law.

•The socket can withstand the maximum

power of the appliance, which is

indicated on the data plate.

•The voltage is in the range between the

values indicated on the data plate.

•The socket is compatible with the plug of

the appliance. If the socket is

incompatible with the plug, ask an

authorised technician to replace it. Do

not use extension cords or multiple

sockets.

! Once the appliance has been installed, the

power supply cable and the electrical socket must

be easily accessible.

! The cable must not be bent or compressed.

! The cable must be checked regularly and

replaced by authorised technicians only (see

Assistance).

! The manufacturer declines any liability should

these safety measures not be observed.

Adapting to various types of gas

Warning: Servicing should be carried out only by

authorised personnel.

To adapt the hob to a different type of gas other

than the default type (indicated by the label

placed on the upper part of the hob or on the

packaging), the burner nozzles should be

replaced as follows:

1. Remove the hob grids and slide the

burners off their seats.

2. Unscrew the nozzles using a 7 mm

socket spanner (fig.10), and replace

them with nozzles for the new type of

gas (see table 1 “Burner and nozzle

characteristics”).

3. Reassemble the parts following the

above procedure in the reverse order.

4. Once this procedure is finished, replace

the old rating sticker with one indicating

the new type of gas used. Sticker are

available from any of our Service

Centres.

Setting the burners to minimum (only for

natural gas)

1. While the hob is switched off, press the

power button T1. Press the lock button T2

(D1 lights up).

2. Press the buttons T2, T5 and T9

simultaneously and hold them down until

the numerical value 01 appears on the

display 02; on the displays D3, 4, 5 and 6

a numerical value appears which

indicates the set minimum level. This

level ranges from 9. (the point

corresponds to a negative indication, i.e. -

9) to 9: there are therefore 19 minimum

levels to choose from.

3. Press the + or – button corresponding to

the burner you are adjusting; the burner

will be activated at its maximum level to

begin with, and will then be adjusted to

the minimum setting value indicated at

that moment by the display corresponding

to that burner.

4. Use the + or – buttons corresponding to

the relevant burner to increase or

decrease the minimum level; if the

minimum level is too low, causing the

burner to switch off or operate at such a

low level that the thermocouple does not

detect the flame, the burner operates at

its maximum level for a few seconds and

then returns to the minimum level.

After replacing the nozzles, change the hob

setting using the control panel as follows:

1. While the hob is switched off, press the

power button T1.

2. Press the lock button T2 (D1 lights up).

3. Press the buttons T2, T7 and T11

simultaneously, holding them down until

a numerical value appears on the display

D2. At this point, with the hob set to

natural gas at 1.0kPa, the display shows

01;

4. to convert the hob to operation with

ULPG at 2.75kPa 29, press the T4

button once, so that the value 02

appears on the display D2. The hob will

allow 2 adjustments to be made: 01 and

02, which correspond to natural gas at

1.0kPa mbar and ULPG at 2.75kPa

respectively.

Gas Hob Operating Instructions

5. Repeat the process until the minimum

level is high enough. To save the

minimum level setting for the burner, as

soon as it has been adjusted press the

corresponding + and – buttons

simultaneously; if this procedure is not

performed the new setting will not be

saved.

6. Once the adjustment procedures have

been completed for the various burners,

press the T2, T5 and T9 buttons

simultaneously (in this case the T2 button

should be pressed slightly before the

other two); hold the buttons down for

approximately 5 seconds, until the hob

returns to the status of being switched off

with the keypad locked.

7. To use the hob, unlock the keypad by

pressing button T2.

NOTE: if none of the buttons on the keypad are

pressed for more than 1 minute during the

adjustment stage, the appliance exits the function

automatically.

When converting from Natural Gas to Propane

ensure that the NG regulator is removed and

replaced with the test point assembly. A gas

regulator suitable for a supply pressure of

2.75kPa should be part of the gas tank supply and

should be adjusted with the wok burner operating

at maximum.

The appliance is factory set for Natural Gas. The

test point pressure should be adjusted to 1.00kPa

with the wok burner (or rapid burner if there is no

wok burner) operating at maximum.

Replace the old data plate with one which is

suitable for the type of gas for which the appliance

has been regulated.

Before Leaving - Check all connections for gas

leaks with soap and water. DO NOT use a naked

flame for detecting leaks. Ignite all burners to

ensure correct operation of gas valves, burners

and ignition.

Turn gas taps to low flame position and observe

stability of the flame. When satisfied with the

hotplate, please instruct the user on the correct

method of operation.

In case the appliance fails to operate correctly

after all checks have been carried out, refer to the

authorised service provider in your area.

SAFETY TIMES FOR EACH BURNER:

The safety time when the appliance is switched off

(the interval between the flame being switched off

and subsequent P.C.B. reaction, namely

reignition) is less than 10 seconds.

The safety time (the interval between the opening

of the valve and its closure if no flame is detected;

this coincides with the maximum spark duration) is

6 seconds.

BREAKDOWN SITUATIONS AND RESULTING

BEHAVIOUR OF THE APPLIANCE:

1. Flame monitoring device breakage: the

burner cannot remain lit and therefore

enters its safety mode. A fault signal is

shown on the display.

2. No sparks: it is not possible to light the

burner. The P.C.B. blocks the gas supply

to the burner after the safety time has

elapsed.

3. Tap seizes up in any of the operating

positions: the burner loses its ability to

modulate the flame but can still be

switched off and left in safe mode.

4. The magnet seizes up in an open

position: it is, nevertheless, possible to

switch the appliance off.

5. The magnet seizes up in a closed

position: it is not possible to light the

burner.

6. Any breakdown of the P.C.B. will mean

that it is not possible to operate the

appliance at all.
