SAFETY INFORMATION
Please read this manual carefully
before use and keep it for future
reference.
1. This appliance is not intended for use by children. Keep the appliance
and its power cord out of the reach of children.
2. This appliance is intended for use by persons with reduced physical,
sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge,
provided they have been given supervision or instruction concerning
use of the appliance in asafe manner and understand the potential
hazards.
3. Children must not play with the device.
4. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be done by children.
5. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the
manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualied persons in order
to avoid adangerous situation.
6. WARNING: Improper use may cause severe injury.
7. Always unplug the appliance if it is left unattended and before
assembly, disassembly or cleaning.
8. This appliance is designed for home use in sharpening knives. Do
not use it for any purpose other than that for which it is intended.
Do not use it for commericial and laboratory purposes. Do not use it
outdoors.
9. Before plugging the appliance into the mains, check that the voltage
indicated on the rating plate matches the voltage in your socket.
10. Only connect the appliance to properly grounded mains sockets. Do
not use adapters or extension cords.
11. To avoid electrocution, do not immerse the appliance, its power cord
or plug in water or other liquids.
12. When turning off the appliance, rst set the power switch to 0 (off),

then unplug from the mains. Never turn the appliance off by only
unplugging from the mains.
13. When unplugging the appliance, pull on the plug, not on the power
cord. Pulling on the cord may damage it or the socket.
14. The socket should remain accessible to allow easy unplugging later
on.
15. Do not let the power cord hang over the edge of atable or worktop.
16. Make sure the power cord does not touch ahot surface (e.g. cooking
top).
17. Route the power cord so as to prevent tripping. Tripping on the power
cord might additionally tip the appliance over or send it ying while
powered on, potentially causing severe injury.
18. Do not use the appliance near water (e.g. sink). Keep water away from
the appliance.
19. Do not use the appliance in awet or dusty environment. Do not use
open ame or other ignition sources, or explosives, ammables or
volatiles, near the appliance.
20. Always set the appliance on adry, level, rm surface. Provide
adequate clearance around the appliance.
21. Do not set the appliance on hot surfaces (e.g. cooking top, stove, etc.)
or near heat sources.
22. To avoid potentially severe injury, do not touch the whetstones. Keep
ngers, hands, hair, loose clothing, jewelry etc. at asafe distance from
the whetstones, particularly while the appliance is running.
23. WARNING: Knife blades can be very sharp, and present arisk of
severe injury when handled improperly.
24. WARNING: Never insert the knife blade into the appliance point-rst.
Contact of the point with the moving whetstones may cause the
blade to recoil, potentially damaging the appliance or injuring the
operator.
25. If the appliance overheats during use, set the power switch to 0 (off),
then unplug the appliance and let it cool down before further use.
26. Do not modify the appliance or change its technical specications in
any way.
27. If the appliance does not work as advertised and / or it or its power
cord appear damaged, set the power switch to 0 (off), then unplug
the appliance. Then contact an authorized service center for repair.
Never repair the appliance yourself. It does not contain any parts that
the user can x himself.

USE
Before First Use
Unpack the appliance. Before disposing of the packaging, be sure to re-
move all components. Check for damage.
Wipe the outside of the appliance with asoft sponge slightly moistened
with warm water.
Intended Use
This sharpener is designed for thin-bladed knives, such as carbon and
stainless steel kitchen knives.
Do not use it for hunting, serrated, ceramic or power knives, scissors or any
blades that will not t in the whetstone shroud apertures.
Grinding
The appliance features two-stage sharpening, consisting of rough whet-
ting (stage 1) and ne whetting and polish (stage 2).
Stage 1
Stage 1 removes notches and warp from the blade.
Stage 2
Stage 2 produces asharp, precise edge.
Procedure
1. Set the appliance on adry, clean, rm surface such as atable or

worktop.
2. Make sure the lings bin is empty and clean. Empty and clean it
otherwise. The bin should be emptied and cleaned before each use.
3. Wipe the blade to be sharpened with aclean cloth. Only sharpen dry,
clean blades.
Warning:
Always make sure blades are clean and dry and ling bin is
clean and empty before sharpening.
4. Slide the blade through all apertures while the appliance is off, to nd
points of contact with the whetstones.
5. Plug the power cord into aproperly grounded mains outlet.
6. Set the power switch to I(on) to power on the appliance.
Warning:
Always power on the appliance before inserting the blade.
Inserting blades into arunning appliance may damage it or
the blade or severely injure the operator.
7. Hold the appliance with one hand; hold the knife in the other.
8. Insert the blade into the left rough whetting (stage 1) aperture,
starting with the handle-side end. Then slowly pull the knife towards
you. Do not press down too hard on the knife. Pressure should
be moderate and constant. Keep the blade in contact with the
whetstones throughout the sharpening process.
9. Insert the blade into the right rough whetting (stage 1) aperture,
starting with the handle-side end. Then slowly pull the knife towards
you.
10. Repeat steps 8 and 9 several times for an even, solid edge. Each pass
of the blade through the whetstones should take 5 to 10 seconds,
depending on blade length.
Warning:
Never insert ablade point-rst. Doing so may damage it or
the appliance or severely injure the operator.
11. Now insert the blade into the left ne whetting (stage 2) aperture,
starting with the handle-side end. Then slowly pull the knife towards
you. Repeat with the right aperture.
12. Check the edge and repeat steps 8 through 11 as needed. Cut some
soft food or apiece of paper to check the edge. The edge is sharp if
using the knife requires minimal pressure.
Warning:
To avoid potentially severe injury, do not check the edge with
anger.

Note:
When sharpening carbon steel knives, sparks may occasion-
ally y off the blade. This is normal to an extent, but if there
seem to be too many sparks, turn off and unplug the appli-
ance.
Note:
Pressing down excessively on the knife when sharpening may
actually dull the blade. If that occurs, restart the sharpening
process from the beginning, using less pressure.
13. Once done, turn off the appliance by setting the power switch to 0 (off)
and unplug it from the mains.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Always switch off the appliance, unplug it from the mains and let it cool
down completely before any cleaning or maintenance.
Warning:
Never immerse the appliance, the power cord or the plug in
water or other liquids.
Do not use plastic or metal scrapers, harsh cleaners, chemicals, petrol,
solvents, or other similar substances to clean any parts of the appliance.
The surface nish could be seriously damaged.
Wipe the appliance exterior with asoft cloth slightly wet with warm water.
Wipe with dry dish towel.
Regularly clean the lings bin located at the bottom of the appliance.
Open the bin cover and wipe the interior with asoft cloth slightly wet with
warm water. Wipe with dry dish towel. Replace the cover.
Storage
Make sure the appliance is clean before storing it. Keep it in adry and
well-ventilated place out of the reach of children or pets. Do not place any
objects on top of it.

SICHERHEITSHINWEISE

1. Dieses Gerät darf nicht von Kindern bedient werden. Bewahren Sie
das Gerät und das Netzkabel außerhalb der Reichweite von Kindern
auf.
2. Dieses Gerät kann von Personen mit verminderten physischen
und mentalen Fähigkeiten oder mangelnden Erfahrungen und
Kenntnissen verwendet werden, sofern diese beaufsichtigt sind
oder über die sichere Anwendung des Geräts belehrt wurden und
mögliche Gefahren verstehen.
3. Kinder dürfen nicht mit dem Gerät spielen.
4. Die Reinigung und Wartung durch den Benutzer darf nicht von
Kindern durchgeführt werden.
5. Wenn das Netzkabel beschädigt ist, muss es vom Hersteller, seinem
Servicetechniker oder einer ähnlich qualizierten Person ersetzt
werden, um eine gefährliche Situation zu vermeiden.
6. WARNUNG: Bei unsachgemäßer Verwendung besteht die Gefahr
einer schweren Verletzung.
7. Trennen Sie das Gerät immer vom Netz, wenn es unbeaufsichtigt ist
und bevor Sie es montieren, demontieren oder reinigen.
8. Dieses Gerät ist für das Schleifen von Messerklingen im Haushalt
vorgesehen. Verwenden Sie es nicht für andere Zwecke als die, für
die es bestimmt ist. Verwenden Sie es nicht für kommerzielle Zwecke
oder Laborzwecke. Verwenden Sie es nicht im Freien.
9. Vergewissern Sie sich vor dem Einstecken des Steckers in die
Steckdose, dass die auf dem Geräteschild angegebene Spannung mit

der Spannung in Ihrer Steckdose übereinstimmt.
10. Stecken Sie den Netzstecker nur in eine ordnungsgemäß geerdete
Steckdose. Benutzen Sie keine Adapter oder Verlängerungskabel.
11. Um das Risiko eines Stromschlags zu vermeiden, tauchen Sie das
Gerät, das Netzkabel oder den Stecker nicht in Wasser oder andere
Flüssigkeiten.
12. Schalten Sie das Gerät aus, indem Sie den Schalter in die Position
0 (aus) versetzen und dann den Stecker des Netzkabels aus der
Steckdose ziehen. Schalten Sie das Gerät niemals aus, indem Sie den
Netzstecker aus der Steckdose ziehen.
13. Ziehen Sie den Stecker des Netzkabels immer am Stecker aus der
Steckdose, nicht am Netzkabel. Andernfalls besteht die Gefahr, dass
das Netzkabel oder die Netzsteckdose beschädigt wird.
14. Die Netzsteckdose muss frei zugänglich bleiben, damit das Gerät im
Notfall vom Stromnetz getrennt werden kann.
15. Lassen Sie das Netzkabel nicht über die Kante eines Tisches oder
einer Arbeitsplatte hängen.
16. Achten Sie darauf, dass das Netzkabel nicht mit einer heißen
Oberäche (z. B. Kochplatte) in Berührung kommt.
17. Führen Sie das Netzkabel so, damit es nicht im Weg ist. Dies könnte
dazu führen, dass der Messerschleifer beim Schleifen umkippt und
schwere Verletzungen verursacht.
18. Benutzen Sie das Gerät nicht in der Nähe von Wasser, z. B. in einem
Waschbecken oder Spülbecken. Achten Sie darauf, dass kein Wasser
in das Gerät eindringt.
19. Verwenden Sie das Gerät nicht in einer staubigen oder feuchten
Umgebung. Verwenden Sie kein offenes Feuer, eine Zündquelle oder
explosive, entammbare oder üchtige Stoffe in der Nähe des Geräts.
20. Stellen Sie das Gerät immer an einem trockenen, geraden und festen
Ort auf. Achten Sie darauf, dass um das Gerät herum genügend Platz
vorhanden ist.
21. Stellen Sie das Gerät nicht auf eine heiße Oberäche (z. B. auf eine
Herdplatte, einen Ofen usw.) oder in die Nähe von Wärmequellen.
22. Berühren Sie die Schleifscheiben nicht. Es besteht die Gefahr von
schweren Verletzungen. Halten Sie Finger, Hände, Haare, lose
Kleidungsstücke, Schmuck usw. von den Schleifscheiben fern,
insbesondere wenn das Gerät in Betrieb ist.
23. WARNUNG: Die Messerklingen sind sehr scharf. Bei unsachgemäßer
Handhabung besteht die Gefahr von schweren Verletzungen.
24. WARNUNG: Führen Sie die Messerspitze niemals zuerst in die
Schleifscheiben ein. Es besteht die Gefahr eines Rückschlags, der das
Gerät beschädigen oder schwere Verletzungen verursachen kann.
25. Wenn das Gerät während des Gebrauchs übermäßig heiß wird,
schalten Sie es aus, indem Sie den Schalter in die Position 0 (aus)
versetzen und den Stecker aus der Steckdose ziehen. Lassen Sie das
Gerät vor der weiteren Verwendung abkühlen.
26. Es ist verboten, das Gerät zu modizieren, seine technischen
Parameter zu verändern oder es anderweitig zu modizieren.
27. Wenn das Gerät nicht richtig funktioniert, kaputt ist oder das Netzteil
oder der Stecker beschädigt ist, schalten Sie das Gerät aus, indem
Sie den Schalter in die Position 0 (aus) versetzen und den Stecker
aus der Steckdose ziehen. Wenden Sie sich an eine autorisierte
Kundendienststelle, um ihn reparieren zu lassen. Reparieren Sie das
Gerät niemals selbst. Er enthält keine Teile, die der Benutzer selbst
reparieren kann.
