BackgroundandPurpose

Humidityisoftenusedtoenhanceandacceleratelatentprintdevelopment.Theadditionofhumidityinthe

processingofNinhydrintreateddocumentsiscommonplaceandit'salsoakeycomponentinCyanoacrylatefuming

techniques.ThePUM100Bprovidesacontrolledmethodofintroducingmoisturetobothoftheseprocesses.The

HumidifiercanbeusedinconjunctionwithCyanoFumingChamberssuchastheFR100,FR200,FR600andalsofor

humidifyingdocumentsprocessedwithNinhydrinbyusingtheincludedhosenozzleattachmentorconnectingto

the214CADevelopmentChamber.

NOTICE:ElevatedtemperaturemistmaybegeneratedbythisunitwhentheWarmMistmodeisselected.Donot

touchtheoutletnozzleplateduringoperation.Donottouchtheoutletendofthehose.

Controls/Operation





Powerbutton:PushingthisbuttontogglespowerONandOFF.Makecertainthetankcontainswaterbefore

poweringtheuniton.

NightLightbutton:Turnstheunit’sNightLightONorOFF(toggle).

MistControl:PressonceforLOWmistvolume,presstwiceforMEDIUMmistvolumeorpressthreetimes

forHIGHmistvolume.ThecorrespondingL,MorHLEDunderthebuttonwillbelit,indicatingtheselection.

RefillTank‐WhenallthreeLEDsundertheMistControlbuttonareblinking,thewatertankneedsrefilling.

WarmMistControlbutton‐Presstoselectwarmmist.Whenwarmmistisselected,theLEDunderthe

WARMbuttonwilllight.Watertemperatureismaintainedat80°F(27°C)forwarm.Allow15minutesfor

watertowarm.ToturnofftheWarmMistfunction,pressthebuttonagain.

CoolMist‐Thisisthedefaultoperationoftheunit.Mistwillbegeneratedbytheunit’sultrasonic

mechanism.Themisttemperaturewillbethatofthewaterinthetank(i.e.,roomtemperature).

Timer‐Bydefault,theTimerfunctionis“off”,meaningtheunitwillrununtilyouturnitofforitrunsoutof

water.ForusewithSirchiechambers,theTimerfunctionalityisnotneeded.See“RecommendedMist

SettingsforSirchieChambers”,onthefollowingpage,forrecommendedruntimes.

FillingTheWaterTank

1.Beforefillingthewatertank,setthe

POWERbuttonto“OFF”andunplugthe

unitfromtheACoutlet.

2.Removethelidfromthewatertank.

Filltankwithdistilledwateronly

(RecommendedSirchiePUM105.)

Replacethetanklid.



UseWithCyanoacrylateFumingChambers

1. PlacethebaseofthePUM100Bonafirm,flat,levelandwaterresistantsurface.

2. Fillthetank(asexplainedabove).

3. Plugthepowercordfirmlyandcompletelyintothewalloutlet(donotuseanextensioncord).

4. ConnectoneendofthevaporhosetothePUM100B’snozzle‐hoseadaptertube(ontopoftheunit).

5. PushthepowerbuttontoturntheunitON.

6. PresstheMistControlbuttontoselectthevolumeofmistdesired(Low,MediumorHigh).

7. IfyouwantWarmMist,presstheWarmbutton.Notethatitwilltakeabout15minutestowarmupthewater.

Otherwisetheunitwillproduceacoolmistviaitsultrasonicmechanism.

8. ToselectaTimerduration,presstheTimerbutton.Eachtimethebuttonispressed,thenextTimerintervalis

selected.The“2hour”settingshouldbesufficientformostoperations.

Theunit’sheater(ifWarmMistisselected)shutsoffautomaticallywhenwaterrunsout.Alsotheunitwillcease

producingmistifthewaterrunsout.



CleaningandMaintenance

CAUTION!UseonlySirchiePUM105distilledwater!Tapwater

containsmineralsandotherparticlesthatmaycontaminate

evidencebeingprocessed.Duringoperation,mostofthese

mineralsremaininthewaterreservoir.Gradualbuildupof

depositscoatthewaterreservoirandultrasonicdisk,andthus

reduceefficiency.Therefore,routinecleaningandcareis

recommended.

WARNING!Failuretoperformthenecessarycleaningstepswill

damagetheunit.

1.Beforecleaning,setthePowerButtonto“OFF”positionand

unplugtheunitfromtheACoutlet.

2.RemovethelidfromtheWatertank.Removethemisttube

byrotatingitcounterclockwise.Emptythetankbypouringall

thewaterontheleftside(seearrowinsidetank).



Cleanthemisttubewithfreshwaterandalightbrush(bottle

cleaningbrushisrecommended).Replacemisttubeafter



Dependingonusage,cleaningtoremovescalemayberequiredweeklyoreveryotherweektooptimizeunit

performance.Useonlydistilledwaterintheunit(SIRCHIEPUM105recommended).Thiswillreducetheprecipitation

ofmineralsor‘whitedust’.Donotcleantheunitorwatertankwithdetergentsorcleaningchemicalsofanykind.

Ifscalebecomesdifficulttoremovewithbrush:

1.Fillthetankwith:mixtureof1tsp.whitevinegarand1tsp.water.

2.Letsolutionstandfor5minutes.

3.Withthevinegarinthetank,cleanallinteriorsurfaceswithasoftclothorbrushtohelpremovescale.

4.Alsocheckmistnozzleandmisttubeinwatertank.Cleanasneeded.

5.Rinsethetankthoroughlywithwatertoremovescaleandvinegarsolution.



1.Unplugunit.

2.Removethemisttubebyrotatingitcounterclockwise.

Emptythetankbypouringallthewaterontheleftside

(seearrowinsidetank).

3.Locatetheultrasonicdiskontheinsidecenterofthe

baseunit.

4.UseONLYtheenclosedcleaningbrush(locatedonthe

undersideoftheLid)togentlycleandiskandremove

buildupanddeposits.

DONOTSCRUBORSCRAPETHEULTRASONICDISK.



•FollowtheCleaningandDescalinginstructionswhenthehumidifierwillbestored.

•Drythehumidifiercompletelybeforestoring.DONOTstorewithwaterinsidetheBaseorWaterTank.
