1 Notes on this Manual

The external DC fuse BatFuse is available in four different models. The BatFuse A.01 and A.03 are

suitable for connection to the Sunny Island 2224. BatFuse models B.01 and B.03 are suitable for

all Sunny Islands. BatFuse as it appears in this manual refers to all four models.

1.1 Validity

These technical instructions are valid for the installation and start-up of BatFuse models:

• BatFuse B.03

1.2 Target Group

These technical instructions address themselves to the installer as well as the operator of the BatFuse.

1.3 Storage of the manual

Store the technical instructions for the BatFuse in the immediate vicinity of the BatFuse so that it is

accessible at all times.

2 Safety Instructions

2.1 Intended Use

As an external DC fuse, the BatFuse protects the battery connections of the Sunny Island inverter.

Additionally, the BatFuse enables the DC-side disconnection of the Sunny Island.

The BatFuse is available in different specifications in order to cover the different features of

Sunny Island products with appropriate fuse plugs. BatFuse B.01 and BatFuse B.03 possess an

8 A secured battery tap that can be used, for example, to supply DC-fed consumers. You can also

connect multiple devices in parallel.

Principle of DC Wiring with a BatFuse

You can connect three inverters, two batteries, and up to four charge controllers to the BatFuse B.03.

2.2 General Safety Notices

DANGER!

Risk of lethal electric shock!

• Only qualified personnel are permitted to install the electical connections.

• Observe sufficient cable cross section and correct polarity of the cables.

• Insert NH fuses in the bracket of the BatFuse only after completion of the installation

task on the system.

• Oberve the instructions in the section Switching On and Off of the technical

instructions of the Sunny Island.

3.2 Check for Transport Damage

Before installing, make sure that all parts are included in the delivery.

• Carefully check the packaging and the BatFuse for any signs of damage.

• Ensure that all parts are included in the delivery (see section 3.1 "Packing List" (Page 9)).

If something is missing or if the BatFuse was damaged during shipping, immediately call SMA Solar

Technology AG . For more information, please see section 8 "Contact" (Page 30).

Information

In case you would like to return the BatFuse, please save the packaging.
