1INTRODUCTION –WD7015TECO

In addition to the demineralised water and hot water heaters, Smeg WD7015 models with suffix “TECO” –

e.g. “WD7015TECO” – are fitted with an additional Heat Exchanger, the “Eco Heat Exchanger”.

The Heat Exchanger, mounted on and fixed to the top of the product, allows hot demineralised water from the final

thermal disinfection rinse to be reused to pre-heat the incoming demineralised water.

This component saves both energy and water.

The Heat Exchanger is only installed on models with suffix “TECO” and cannot be fitted on other models.

Devices undergo complete testing in the factory, but the Heat Exchanger is disassembled and packaged separately for

easier transportation.

Technical staff are required to:

1. assemble the Heat Exchanger;

2. make its water and electricity connections;

3. check that it has been assembled correctly, especially with the regard to the tightness of all connections, and

test its operation.

See www.smegtech.com for the product’s up-to-date functional and wiring diagrams, for full information about

WD7015TECO models.

2DIMENSIONS

The overall dimensions of the Heat Exchanger are:

-Width: 870 mm

-Depth: 820 mm

-Height: 225 mm

Weight of the Eco Heat Exchanger, which has to be lifted and placed on top of the device: 35 kg.

Refer to the latest edition of the “Installation Requirements” document for product information and dimensions.

3.2 PRECAUTIONS IN PREPARATION FOR INSTALLATION

ATTENTION

Before installing the components:

1. Check that the device is not connected to the electricity supply.

2. If its electrical connection has already been made: disconnect the power supply using the

main switch on the switchboard.

3. Turn off the water supply taps if already connected.

4. Turn off any other utility supplies and connections (e.g. steam system if installed).

Check that all precautions necessary for safe operation have been taken, ensuring in particular

that components are not electrically live.

CLEARANCE: A clearance of about 1 m2is required at the front of the device and on both sides to

allow correct operation.

PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Wear gloves as protective equipment to prevent cuts from sharp edges

on metal pieces and casings.

The Eco Heat Exchanger must be placed on top of the device: proceed with all necessary

precautions, using ladders and at least 2 operatives to place the unit in the required position.

3.3 UNIT ASSEMBLY PROCEDURES

Illustration

Description

Step 1

First remove both the device’s side panels for

access to the hoses for connection to the Eco

Heat Exchanger.

Step 2

Place the Heat Exchanger unit on top of the

device as shown on the left.

The device is prefitted with the hoses for

connection to the Heat Exchanger; fit them on

the outside of the unit, so that:

1. the ends of the hose are accessible for

connection after the Heat Exchanger

is in place.

2. The hoses are not crushed

underneath the unit.

Take special care that the Heat Exchanger’s

connection fittings are facing towards the

unloading side of the device, as shown.

Step 3

Loosely fit the nuts provided on the M5 pins on

the top of the device, to hold the unit in

position.

Step 4

The first two water connections to be made are

those to the internal coil of the Heat Exchanger

(marked IN and OUT).

Connect:

1. First, the Heat Exchanger outlet pipe

“OUT” to the “OUT” connection on

the top of the device.

2. Second, connect the coil inlet pipe

“IN”.

3. Secure both of them firmly with the

clamps.

Step 5

Secure the flexible steel pipe to the connection

on the top of the tank (connection marked:

“IN_RWT”).

A 29 mm spanner is required.

A gasket is placed between the fittings to

ensure tightness: check that the gasket is

present and in good condition before

tightening the connection.

Take special care to ensure that the

connection is made properly: the pipe carries

high temperature water from the thermal

disinfection phases.

Step 6

Connect the outlet fitting of the Heat

Exchanger which leads to the washing

chamber: “OUT_SOL_RU” connection.

Secure it with the clamp provided.

[“SOL_RU” is the solenoid valve which allows

the Heat Exchanger to discharge into the

washing chamber.]

Step 7

Connection of the overflow “OVER_RWT”.

Connect the overflow hose in the bottom of the

Heat Exchanger and secure it with the clamp

provided.

Step 8

The bottom of the Heat Exchanger unit

includes a drip tray to catch any leaks from the

connections.

There is a drain fitting underneath the drip

tray, which must be connected to the drain

pipe provided.
