Quick Start Guide

This Quick Start Guide will introduce you to the essential

procedures for using your VCR. Use the Auto Set Up function

to preset all of the receivable channels. Then follow the

additional steps in the Operating Instructions to change the

programme position to your favourite order.

1Unpacking

Check that you have received thefollowing items with the VCR:

2Inserting the batteries

Insert two R6 (size AA) batteries by matching the + and – on the

batteries to the diagram inside the battery compartment. Insert

the negative (–) end first, then push in and down until the

positive (+) end clicks into the position.

3Connecting the VCR

1Connect the aerial to AERIAL IN of the VCR.

2Connect AERIAL OUT to the aerial input of your TV using

the supplied aerial cable.

For better picture and sound, connect LINE-1 (TV) to your TV

using a Scart cable if your TV has a Scart (EURO-AV) connector.

4Connect the mains lead to the mains.

4Using the Auto Set Up function

You can preset channels.

Hold down AUTO SET UP for three seconds.

When all of the receivable channels are preset, “SET UP”

disappears from the display window. You can rearrange the

programme positions to your favourite order (see “Changing/

disabling programme positions” in the Operating Instructions).

Dew caution

If the VCR is brought directly from a cold to a warm location,

moisture may condense inside the VCR and cause damage to the

video head and tape. When you first install the VCR, or when you

move it from a cold to a warm location, wait for about three hours

before operating the VCR.

5Tuning your TV to the VCR

If your TV does not have a Scart (EURO-AV) connector.

1Press RF CHANNEL on the VCR lightly.

2Turn on your TV and select a vacant programme position.

3Tune the TV to the display window’s RF channel to show the

message below. Refer to your TV’s instruction manual for

tuning instructions.

4Press RF CHANNEL.

If your TV has a Scart (EURO-AV) connector.

1Press RF CHANNEL on the VCR lightly.

2Press PROGRAM +/– to set the RF channel to off.

3Press RF CHANNEL.

Now you can operate your VCR.

For details on how to use your VCR, refer to the Operating

Instructions.

You can enter your personal code to mark your new VCR for

identification. See “Setting your personal code.”

Setting your personal code

For security, you can enter a personal code (up to eleven

characters), such as your post code. If your VCR is stolen and then

recovered, you can identify your VCR using your personal code.

Once you enter the code, you can never change it. Please make a

note of the code to quote to the police if your VCR is stolen.

Before you start...

• Turn on your TV and set the TV to the video channel.

• IfthereisatapeintheVCR,removeit.

•TurnofftheVCR.

VCR simultaneously for

three seconds.

2Enter your personal code.

1Press M/mto select a character.

3Repeat steps 1 and 2 until you have entered the entire

personal code.

3Press OK.

4If the displayed personal code is correct, press OK.

If not, press CLEAR and repeat from step 2.
