FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
Starting off
Check that the mains voltage is the same as the voltage stated on the label of the
apparatus and that the switch (1) for the motor is set on “0”.
Before using, always check that the plug and the cable (9-6) are alright.
Seeing that your diamond motor is Class I, earthed, it should always be earthed with the
encoded plug that is delivered with the apparatus, and connected to the differential
circuit breaker. For this, the cable has a safety switch for your protection PRCD (2),
that controls an FI-protector (circuit breaker) and an automatic off-switch to guard
The encoded plug must be inserted into an earthed socket. Press the “RESET/START
button” of the PRCD; the power light goes red; the PRCD is live.
Press the “TEST/STOP” button, the power light goes out: the PRCD is not operational.
Press the “RESET/START” again: you can use the apparatus.
Never replace the standard plug delivered with your machine!
The PRCD and the cable must never come into contact with water.
Electrical protection (system)
If the supply voltage is higher than the rated value, you must apply less pressure, since
otherwise the protection system for the motor will be triggered and the motor will stop, in
order to protect it against overheating.
You should wait 5 to 10 seconds before pressing the on/off switch (1) in order to
reactivate the machine.
In the case of a power failure, the PRCD will also fail and must be started up again once
power is restored.
Before introducing a power source to your apparatus through the plug or
the PRCD, always check that the on/off switch (1) of the SD 250E is in the “0”
position!
SPIT cannot be held responsible due to incorrect use.
Torque limiter
The built-in torque limiter protects the user and the apparatus from mechanical
overloading. When the torque limiter is initiated, you should immediately reduce the
pressure, because if the torque limiter is in operation for too long it can be worn out
dramatically, as well as heat up, and can also damage your diamond core bit.

3
Fastening to a rig
After each installation all screws and bolts, handles and other components for
afxing the apparatus must be carefully and rmly replaced for safety’s sake.
The diamond motor must be attached to a stand using an intermediary plate and 4
screws (the 4 screws and the intermediary plate come with the stand).
Water supply
supply tap (8). In order to avoid leakage, check that everything is well connected.
SPIT provides a water catchment container as an accessory. Ensure, when not
using this container, that the cable and the PRCD cannot come into contact with
either water spray or owing water. Whilst drilling in an upward direction, you
must use a water catchment container. It is forbidden to drill in an upward
direction without such a system.
to one or more segments of the bit.
The purpose of the water is to:
clean. If the drilled substance and water mixture stays around the drilled hole, then
of the metal pieces that can cause the segments to wear

HOW TO USE THE TOOL
Assembling the core bit
Your machine is equipped with a spindle with an outside diameter of 1 ¼” and
an inside diameter of ½”.
Complete the following steps:
Choice of rpm
The choice of revolutions per minute of the engine depends on the diameter of the
core bit. Consult the table below or the label on the speed selector (3).
Selector position
Speed during use (in rpm) 0 - 380 0 - 850
Drill Ø (mm) 110 - 250 50 - 110
The rotation speeds given above are standard values. They may be changed
depending on the material being drilled and its reinforcement.
We advise you to lower the speed whilst drilling into reinforced concrete, and to
increase the water supply, only increasing the speed again once you are through
the steel.
Never adjust the speed of the engine while the apparatus is working.
Only once it has come to a complete rest, by turning the shaft of the core bit (4)
by hand, can you easily change the speed.
Drilling
1. Open the (water) tap (8) and adjust the water supply.
2. Activate the PRCD (2).
3. Turn the motor on by switching the on/off switch (1) to “1”.
4. Carefully begin drilling your hole. After a few millimetres, you can use normal
pressure.

5
Should you encounter metal
SYMPTOMS:
SOLUTIONS:
While drilling through metal
5. Turn the motor off once you have drilled the hole by putting the on/off switch (1)
back to “0”.
6. Turn off the water supply.
7. Remove the core bit from the drilled hole.
8. Remove the core from the bit.
If the core is stuck in the bit, disassemble the core bit using the “41” key and another
key “32” (motor).
Push the core out of the bit using a rod.
Never hit the bit.
Should the core bit be blocked, turn the switch (1) to the “0” position.
Disassemble the core using the key “41” by following the arrow. Remove the
bored core and check the bottom of the drilled hole. If a piece of metal is left
behind, remove it. Otherwise it could result in blockage, or even damage to
the bit.
Check the core bit and the condition of the segments, assemble the core and
begin drilling once more starting at the bottom of the hole.
MAINTENANCE
Transport
Always carry the apparatus using the hand grip (5), never using the water hose. This
could damage it.
Oil
After 300 working hours, the oil in the gear box should be refreshed. This must be done
by a SPIT service operator.
Take note:
Should an oil leak occur, turn the machine off immediately. Loss of oil is bad for
the workings of the machine and could cause damage. Bring it straight to the
SPIT service centre.

Engine
Regularly check the power supply cable, the plug, the PRCD (2) and the switch. If any
of them are damaged, you should immediately take them to a SPIT service centre. The
carbon brushes should be replaced after 300 working hours. This too must be done at
a SPIT service centre. All these procedures, as well as a general service after 300
working hours, must be done by a SPIT service operator. SPIT cannot accept any
responsibility for apparatuses that are maintained, repaired or altered by a person or
company not recognised by SPIT.
SERVICE
Should you have any further queries, please phone one of the telephone numbers on
the last page of this manual.
SPIT takes no responsibility for machines that are not serviced, repaired or altered by a
workshop that is expressly permitted by SPIT to do so.
Dispose of your appliance, accessories and packaging in an environment-friendly
manner.
