Congratulations with the purchase of your StreamBuddy, your new networked Media Hub

and LiveTV player, unleashing a massive amount of Internet content to your home.

We hope you will take as much satisfaction as the pleasure we had to develop this product.

These notes will guide you through various functions and features this little media devil

has to offer.

1. Installation

NETWORK CONNECTION

Preferred way of connecting the StreamBuddy to you network is via LAN cable as this provides the most stable link:

Plug the StreamBuddy in one available LAN port of your HomeVPNBox (server Los Angeles 3 or Dallas G1).

Alternatively Wi-Fi, if the HomeVPNBox is at proximity (same room, or adjacent):

1. Enter the SETUP menu

2. Select the Network tab

3. Select Wireless and scan for Wi-Fi Access Points

4. Select SecureNetworX and enter “HomeVPNBox” as password (respect capitals)

VIDEO CONNECTORS

Use the HDMI cable provided to connect to your TV set.

Alternatively, if your TV does not have HDMI, RCA (Yellow/White/Red) is

available.

AUDIO CONNECTORS

7.1 CH audio is carried over HDMI.

An optical out is available if you want to connect the StreamBuddy to your

HomeTheather amplifier.

OPTIMAL VIEWING EXPERIENCE

32-40 inch TV sets are providing the best viewing experience for LiveTV

channels which are of Internet quality video (Standard Definition or Medium

Quality).

Respect the seating distance. The bigger the display, the further back you will

have to sit in order for SD television to look good.

2. Menu & features

The Main menu contains following functions of interest

1. Files: media playback from USB, NAS, PC...

2. hd4all: Movies, Series, Cartoons, Sports, Replay Channels…

3. LiveTV

4. IMS / Premium Apps: Internet Radio, Video Podcasts, YouTube Leanback…

Each of these will be described in the sections hereafter.

For navigation between these menus hit the “Home” button (top left from cursor pad).

Turn off your StreamBuddy when not in use.

UNLEASH ALL YOUR HOME CONTENT!

USB -Play music/photo/video from an attached Hard disk or USB stick

Network

-Scan and discover media resources/directories on your home network

-Handy to create favorite links to NAS or PC

UPnP (Universal Plug-and-Play)

-Stream from UPnP Media servers

-If you want to make your library on your PC or MAC remotely controllable from

Streambuddy, we recommend to install Plex Media Server (www.plexapp.com/getplex/)

NFS -Advanced users will like this function to e.g. directly mount shared folders on your NAS

FAVORITES

You can bookmark a music/picture/movie file or folder / network share for easy access later on.

1. Hit the “Bookmark” button (down left cursor pad)

2. Select “Add to Favorites”

To retrieve a bookmark: hit the “Home” button (top left from cursor pad) and scroll to “Favorites”.

PUSH CONTENT FROM PC or SMARTPHONE

The StreamBuddy is DLNA compliant and has a Digital Media renderer function, meaning that you can push content

directly from your PC or Smartphone onto the TV screen. All devices need to be connected on the HomeVPNBox.

Windows 7

1. In Windows Explorer look for “RealTek Embedded UPnP Renderer (StreamBuddy)”

2. Double-click and let the drivers be installed automatically

3. Select your media file -> Right click -> Play To

Android Devices

1. Enter your Music or Media Gallery

2. Select your file

3. Menu -> “Select Player” -> StreamBuddy

iPhone / iPad

You need to install a 3rd party application. Search for UPnP/DLNA in iTunes.

MOVIES & SERIES

Main sources:

1. Movie2k.to –movies (English + German)

2. Movie2k.to –series (English + German)

3. NoobRoom (higher quality)

4. Archive.org (Classic Movies)

Navigate through the selection of movies and series being published. You will be presented a variety of streaming

sources to choose from. Servers that have been tested to be reliable are found in the Channel & VoD guide.

Videos can be streamed in real-time (press OK) or downloaded (press 2) for later viewing.

In order for the download manager to function you need to need to have either an external storage plugged in (USB

flash or HDD) and create a directory called “download”in the root directory.

Installs on USB storage and provides access to a number of replay content & episodes from:

Great new interface, designed to enjoy from the couch a large offer of content designed for the TV screen.

Android users can also fully remote control with their Smartphones or tablets (connected to HomeVPNBox).

1. Download YouTube Remote on Google Play

2. Pair the device with YouTube Leanback following the on-screen instructions

3. Updates & other functions

CONTENT UPDATES

On a regular basis the LiveTV Channel bouquets and video on demand links are being refreshed.

Update notifications are displayed when entering the HD4All menu.

If a new content update is available perform the following steps:

1. Go to "IMS / Premium Apps"

2. Navigate to the far right and enter "System Tools"

3. Select “Update script”

4. Select “Update script (HDD links / Video online)”

5. Select "Update script HDD Links from Internet”

System will reboot.

(if not restarting properly, perform a Power OFF/ON with the remote)

BITTORRENT

The StreamBuddy has an embedded BitTorrrent client allowing directly downloading content onto an external USB

connected storage (e.g. flash stick or HDD) without the need of having your PC or MAC turned on.

1. Activate the Transmission function

a. Enter SETUP menu

b. Network Tab

c. Transmission PT Service: ON

d. Write down the IP address

2. Install the Transmission GUI on your Win PC or MAC

a. Download client: code.google.com/p/transmisson-remote-gui/

b. Install & Launch

c. Tools menu -> Connection Options

d. Remote Host: enter IP address noted above

e. Port: 9091

3. Search for content with your PC browser (e.g. www.extratorrent.com, www.isohunt.com, www.ahashare.com)

4. Select the torrent file and the Transmission Client will pop up. (you can close your PC)
