tion (EU) 2016/425 and other appro‐

tute:)
This product is intended to protect
the wearer from impacts to the
head. To ensure the best possible
level of protection and comfort when
using this hard hat, it is essential to
read and observe the following infor‐
mation.
The hard hat is designed for use
when working with chain saws (e.g.
timber harvesting). The level of pro‐
tection in other applications cannot
be predicted.
WARNUNG!
For adequate protection this helmet
must fit or be adjusted to the size of
the user’s head. The helmet is made
to absorb the energy of a blow by
partial destruction or damage to the
shell and the harness, and even
though such damage may not be
readily apparent, any helmet subjec‐
ted to severe impact should be
replaced. The attention of users is
also drawn to the danger of modi‐
fying or removing any of the original
component parts of the helmet,
other than as recommended by the
helmet manufacturer. Helmets
should not be adapted for the pur‐
pose of fitting attachments in any
way not recommended by the hel‐
met manufacturer. Do not apply
paint, solvents, adhesives or self-
adhesive labels, except in accor‐
dance with instructions from the hel‐
met manufacturer.
Important Points
No personal protective equipment
can ensure total protection against
injury. The level of protection
depends on a number of factors.
This hard hat and its components
are no substitute for a safe working
technique. Improper use of a power
tool can result in accidents.
► It is therefore essential to
observe the safety regulations
issued by the authorities concer‐
ned (employer’s liability insu‐
rance associations, etc.) and the
8 0456-704-0008.VA2.B19.

safety instructions in the Instru‐
ction Manual of the power tool
being used.
► Check the hard hat and its com‐
ponents every time before use to
make sure they are in perfect
condition (e.g. visual condition).
► Dispose of the hard hat and/or
components immediately if they
are damaged or have been
modified in any way.
► Materials that come into contact
with the wearer’s skin can cause
allergic reactions in persons with
sensitive skin.
Cleaning
STIHL hard hats are technical pro‐
ducts and need to be treated and
looked after as such in order to
maintain their safety function.
► The shell and interior of the hard
hat can be cleaned with luke‐
warm soapy water (do not clean
in a washing machine).
► The sweatband should be
replaced regularly.
► Do not use substances contai‐
ning solvent or aggressive sub‐
stances to clean the hard hat.
Incorrect cleaning and maintenance
can damage the hard hat and
reduce or disable its protective func‐
tion.
► Follow the cleaning and mainte‐
nance instructions.
Avoiding damage
► To avoid damage to the material
do not allow the hard hat or its
components to come into con‐
tact with pointed or sharp
objects (saw chains, metal tools,
etc.) or aggressive substances
(such as aggressive detergents,
acids, oils, solvents, fuels, etc.).
► Avoid contact with hot objects
(muffler, etc.) and other sources
of heat (open fire, stove, etc.).
Storage and transport
Suitable packaging protects the
hard hat during transport.
► The hard hat should preferably
be stored in its original pack‐
aging in a well ventilated, dry
room.
► Do not expose it to extreme tem‐
peratures, liquids or UV radia‐
tion.
Repair
It is not possible to repair this hard
hat.
► The hard hat must be discarded
straight away if it is damaged.
Subsequent modifications (e.g. dril‐
ling holes in the hard hat) are not
permissible and would impair its
protective effect.
0456-704-0008.VA2.B19. 9

Criteria for discarding
► Examine the hard hat at regular
intervals for visible faults (e.g.
cracking, discoloration). A hard
hat that is altered or damaged
must be replaced immediately.
► After stress such as a severe
impact the hard hat must be
replaced even if the damage is
not externally visible.
Service life
The hard hat should not be used for
more than four years from the date
of manufacture printed on it (see
date dial in the shell of the hat) and
it should not be used for more than
3,500 hours from the date of first
use.
► It is essential to replace the hard
hat at the right time.
The hard hat starts to age from the
day of first use. Please note the
label with the “Issue date” informa‐
tion.
► Mark the date of first use on the
label inside the hard hat with a
permanent marker.
