lity product that will give you an excellent level of comfort as well as silent, safe service for many

years to come. Arrange for your boiler to be serviced regularly by Technical Assistance Service.

Their personnel are specially trained to keep your boiler efficient and cheap to run. Technical

Assistance Centres also stock any original spare parts that might be required.

This instruction manual contains important instructions and precautions that must be observed to

ensure the trouble-free installation and efficient functioning of your boiler.

PRECAUTIONS

GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION

Do not allow children or

infirm persons to operate

the boiler unsupervised.

Do not operate any electri-

cal devices or equipment,

including switches or domestic

appliances, etc., if you can smell

fuel or fumes. If you detect any suspicious smells:

- Ventilate the room by opening all doors and win-

dows.

- Close the fuel shut-off cock.

- Report the fault immediately to THERMITAL’s

Technical Assistance Service or a professionally

qualified heating engineer.

Never clean or service the boiler without first discon-

necting it from the mains electricity supply by turning

the main power switch OFF.

Never pull, disconnect, or twist the electrical cables

coming from the boiler even if it is disconnected

from the mains electricity supply at the time.

Do no obstruct or restrict the vents in the room

where the boiler is installed. Adequate ventilation is

essential for correct combustion.

Do not store containers of flammable substances in

the room where the boiler is installed.

Do not touch the boiler when bare-

foot or wet.

Do not switch the boiler off

if outside temperature drops

below ZERO (risk of free-

zing).

This instruction manual and that for the installer

and Technical Assistance Service are integral parts

of the boiler. They must be kept safe and must

ALWAYS accompany the boiler, even if it is sold

to another owner or user or transferred to another

installation. If you damage or lose this manual,

order a replacement immediately from your local

THERMITAL Technical Assistance Centre.

This boiler must be installed by a

legally qualified heating engi-

neer (in Italy heating engine-

ers are regulated by law 46

of the 5th March 1990.) On

completion of the installation,

the heating engineer must

issue the owner with a declara-

tion of conformity confirming that

the installation has been completed t o

the highest standards in compliance with the instruc-

tions provided by THERMITAL in this instruction

manual, and that it conforms to all applicable laws

and standards.

If you notice any water leaking from the boiler,

disconnect it immediately from the mains electrici-

ty supply, shut off the water supply, and notify your

local THERMITAL Technical Assistance Centre or a

qualified heating engineer immediately.

Periodically check that ope-

rating pressure in the water

circuit is over 1 bar. If water

pressure is consistently

low, contact THERMITAL’s

Technical Assistance Service

or a professionally qualified

heating engineer.

If the boiler is not going to be used for an extended

period of time, proceed as follows to prepare it for

shutdown.

- Turn the mains power switch OFF.

- Close the boiler’s fuel cock and water cock.

- Drain the central heating circuit if there is any risk

of freezing.

The boiler must only be used for the purpose spe-

cified by THERMITAL and for which it is designed.

The manufacturer declines all responsibility, con-

tractual or other, for damage to property or injury to

persons or animals caused by improper installation,

adjustment, maintenance or use.

The operation of any appliance that uses fuel, electrical power and water demands that a number of fundamental safe-

ty precautions be respected.

1 Storage cylinder temperature gauge

Displays domestic hot water temperature.

Adjusts domestic hot water temperature. When the boiler is used with the re-

commended remote control accessory (REC 07/08), DHW temperature must be

adjusted directly from the remote control.

When lit, shows that a flame is being detected.

Displays information on boiler status.

6 Red LED

When lit, shows that an error (alarm) condition has been detected.

7 Function selector

NOT USED. Set to MINIMUM. Temperature is calculated on the basis of the se-

lected heating curve (see the "AUTOMATIC TEMPERATURE CONTROL" section).

Press out the pre-formed cover to make a hole for the timer accessory.

Once you have completed all the checks listed above,

proceed as follows to start up the boiler for the first time.

- Turn the mains power switch ON.

- Turn the boiler function selector to Summer "b".

b WINTER mode " a" is not used, since functioning

of the CH circuits is controlled by the BAG control

card. To ensure correct boiler functioning, keep

the function selector set to "b" SUMMER.

b Every time electrical power is switched on, the

boiler performs an automatic venting cycle that

lasts about 12 minutes. Two dashes flash on the

display in an alternating manner during automa-

tic venting.

START-UP

Have THERMITAL’s Technical Assistance Service start-up your boiler for the first time. Once this has been done, the

boiler can be left to function automatically. Under certain circumstances, such as after long periods of disuse, the user

may need to re-start it without involving the THERMITAL’s Technical Assistance Service. Before doing so, perform the

following checks and operations.

SETTING DOMESTIC HOT WATER TEMPERATURE

b To set domestic hot water temperature, make

sure that no central heating zone is requesting

heat (the “Ot” message must not be visible

on the boiler display). Make sure that there is

no bridge between terminals 23-24, 26-27 and

29-30. Also make sure that no central heating

zone is requesting heat via Open Therm. Under

this condition, the CH circuit (BAG) control card

passes control to the boiler control card, permitting

adjustment of DHW temperature (which is control-

led by the boiler control card).

To adjust the temperature of the domestic hot water

(bath, shower, washbasins, etc.), turn the knob with the

“Å” symbol. Turn the knob clockwise to increase water

temperature or anti-clockwise to reduce it. The digital

display reads out the new temperature setting as you turn

the knob. The adjustment range for DHW temperature is

between 35 and 60 °C. The display always reads out the

setting as you adjust water temperature, both for central

heating water and domestic hot water. Once you have set

the desired temperature, the setting is memorised after 4

seconds and the display once again reads out the actual

temperature of the CH flow or DHW as detected by the

temperature sensor.

b If an REC 07/08 remote control is installed, DHW

temperature MUST be adjusted from the remote

control (see the specific instructions provided

with the remote control).

STARTING UP THE BOILER

If a timer or room thermostat is installed, these must be

switched on and adjusted to a temperature higher than

current room temperature before the boiler can start up.

The boiler will remain in stand-by mode until the burner

ignites following a request for heat. The green LED (2) on

the left of the control panel lights to show that the burner

is lit and the message "Ot" (OpenTherm) is displayed to

indicate that the burner control card is dialoguing with the

CH circuit control card.

The boiler will carry on functioning until the set tempera-

tures are reached, when it will return to stand-by mode

while continuing to display the central heating flow tem-

perature.

If any ignition or functioning errors occur, the boiler per-

forms a “SAFETY SHUTDOWN”. The green LED on the

control panel goes out and an error code flashes on the

display. The red LED (3) indicates a burner lock-out. See

the “WARNING LEDS AND ERRORS” section for details

on the various error codes and how to reset the boiler.

RESET FUNCTION (burner control card)

To reset the boiler, turn the function selector to “É”, then

return it to its previous position and check that the red

LED goes out.

Provided correct functioning conditions have been resto-

red, the boiler restarts automatically. As soon as the bur-

ner ignites the green LED lights and the digital display will

read out current operating temperature.

b Turning the function selector to “É” without retur-

ning it to “b”, will not reset the boiler.

If the boiler does not restart after a number of resets, call

your local Technical Assistance Centre.

Under normal conditions, when the function selector is

turned to “É”, the digital display reads out “- -” unless

the frost protection function (AF) is active, or combustion

analysis (CO) in being performed.

RESET FUNCTION (BAG CH circuit control card)

The BAG control card can only be reset from the REC

07/08 remote control (if present) or from a PC running

dedicated software.

If you are going away for a short period of time like a

weekend or a short holiday, etc., turn the function selector

to “É“ OFF/RESET.

The digital display reads out the message shown alongside.

Because electrical power and the gas supply to the boiler

both remain on, the boiler is protected by the following

systems:

- The boiler frost protection function that protects the

heat exchanger if outdoor temperature falls below -5 °C

during total shutdowns.

b The message AF flashes on the display for as long

as the frost protection function remains active.

- The CH circuit frost protection function that protects

the mixing column and the mixed CH circuits against

the risk of freezing. The mixed CH circuit temperature

sensors protect only the low temperature circuits: the

“BAG” card’s own sensor protects the high temperature

circuit. If the temperature detected by any one of the

sensors (mixed circuit or BAG) falls below 10°C, the

pump for the circuit concerned is switched on for a time

determined by the setting of the "FROST PROTECTION

TIME" parameter. If temperature rises above the 10°C

threshold during this time, the pump is switched off.

If temperature has not risen above 10°C by the end

of “FROST PROTECTION TIME”, but has not dropped

below the "FROST PROTECTION THRESHOLD", cir-

culation is re-activated for 4 minutes after 2 hours. If

on the other hand temperature falls below the "FROST

PROTECTION THRESHOLD" (irrespective of when or

how) a request for heat is generated and the boiler runs

at minimum power until the temperature detected by the

sensor (mixed circuit/BAG) rises above 10°C.

- The anti-seize function that opens and closes the mixer

valve (if fitted) and the circuit pump for 10 seconds, at

intervals determined by the setting of the "ANTI-SEIZE

INTERVAL" parameter. This function serves to prevent

seizure of the pump rotor.

If the boiler is not going to be used for an extended period

of time, proceed as follows to prepare it for shutdown.

- Turn the function selector to OFF/RESET.

- Turn the mains power switch OFF.

- Close the fuel shut-off cock and the central heating and

DHW circuit shut-off cocks.

Note that the frost protection and pump anti-block fun-

ctions are not active under these conditions. Drain the

central heating circuit and domestic hot water circuit if

there is any risk of freezing.

Burner lockout: the red LED lights and an error code

flashes on the display.

No error code is shown in OFF/RESET mode (É). To visua-

lise any system errors, turn the function selector to "b".

Error codes are displayed normally in combustion

analysis and frost protection modes.

To restore normal functioning, turn the function selector to

“É” (OFF/RESET) then return it to Summer position "b".

If the boiler does not restart after a number of resets, call

your local Technical Assistance Centre.
