General Notes Regarding Conversion

The conversion may be done before or after the

appliance is installed into the cavity. However, if the unit

has been installed, it must be removed from the cavity

(see below). Also, the gas must be connected to set the

manifold pressure.

Prepare the Appliance

1. Locate gas shut oﬀvalve and isolate gas supply.

2. Remove any installed trims, fronts, and doors.

3. Remove the window.

4. If the ﬁreplace is already installed:

a. Remove the fuel bed. Be careful with fuel bed

as components are fragile.

b. Remove liner panels.

c. Disconnect the exhaust slide screws (2 screws

at top front of unit).

d. Pull the unit out while disconnectingthe

exhaust slide. Leave the vents and slider

hangingin the chimney.

5. Remove left shroud (2 screws).

6. Remove the side cover (2 screws at left, 3 at the

front).

7. Remove burner cover (2 screws).

Consult your Installation Manual for details on the

steps in this section.

7. Replace the burner. The stem on the end of the air

shutter must mate with the vertical slot in the link

bracket. No nut is required.

8. Connect the fuel supply line and tighten the nut. The

burner angle may need adjusting to better align in-

jector threads with the fuel line nut while tightening.

9. Reattach the burner supports (4 screws).

10. Air shutter stopper, if equipped.

This part is no longer necessary. If the appliance has

an air shutter stopper, remove the 2 screws retain-

ing it, discard it and reinstall the 2 screws to plug the

holes. This part is no longer used

Replace Burner Injector

1. Undo burner supports (4 screws).

2. Unscrew the nut at the end of the burner fuel

supply line, and lift the burner and supports out of

the ﬁreplace (complete with injector elbow at-

tached).

3. Unscrew and disengage the injector elbow. Be

aware that four pieces sit between the elbow and

the burner, do not drop them.

4. Exchange injector elbow from kit, verifying the new

injector before you install—see Speciﬁcations table

on page 1. The injector number is stamped on the

corner of the elbow.

5. Exchange the air shutter from kit as its shape is dif-

ferent for each fuel.

6. Reassemble the burner, putting the ﬂat washer, ten-

sion washer, air shutter, and anti-ﬂashback shield

back in order as shown below. Reconnect injector

elbow to the burner, as tightly as possible while

leaving the elbow connection angled toward the

fuel supply line. Do not over tighten.

Test Air Shutter Movement

Locate the air shutter lever on the left of the module

plate under the receiver. Pull and push it to ensure it is

moving freely.

Replace the Pilot Injector

1. Remove the pilot shield (2 screws).

2. Remove the pilot hood by releasing the U-clip and

pulling up on the hood. The U-clip should not be

removed.

3. Unscrew the pilot injector using an Allen key. Dis-

card the old pilot injector.

4. Replace with the appropriate pilot injector—see

Speciﬁcations table on page 1 (the pilot injector

number is stamped on the barrel). Screw in the new

injector.

pushing down on it, mat-

ing its notch and key at the

base. Ensure that it snaps

into position.

6. Install the pilot shield

supplied with the kit if

diﬀerent than the one that

was installed (2 screws).

Replace the Minimum Rate Bypass Screw

1. Locate and remove the bypass screw from the valve

and discard (this screw may be covered by a sticker).

Note: The bypass screw may require either a ﬂat

head screwdriver or an Allen key depending on its

type. The bypass screw has a rubber O-ring and

may need to be carefully pulled out using pliers

after unscrewing.

2. Insert the replacement minimum rate bypass screw

and hand tighten using a screwdriver/Allen key.

Refer to the Speciﬁcations table on page 1 for proper

bypass screw (the number is stamped on the barrel

of the screw).

Re-install Module and Test for Leaks

1. Reconnect gas inlet to valve, tightening pipe connec-

tion. Open shut oﬀvalve and inspect.

2. Test for leaks by applying a liquid detergent or soap

solution to all connection joints that were taken

apart and reassembled. Bubbles forming indicate a

gas leak.

NEVER use an open ﬂame to check

for leaks! Correct any leak detected

immediately.

Set the Manifold Pressure

1. Fit a manometer to the manifold pressure test tap

on the valve—see ﬁgure below.

2. Light the appliance and turn the control to full input.

3. Adjust the pressure adjustment screw using a small

jeweller’s size ﬂat blade screwdriver—as shown

below—while the appliance is running at full input

to produce manifold pressure, as per Speciﬁcations

table on page 1.

4. Turn oﬀthe appliance, remove the manometer and

tighten the test tapping screw.

5. Check all connections for leaks.

Reassemble Fireplace

Reverse all the previous steps taken in the previous

section, Prepare the Appliance, on page 2.

Consult the appliance`s Installation Manual for full

details of the above steps.

Adjust the air shutter

Once the burner module reinstalled, the air shutter is at

the left of the ﬁrebox.

1. Locate the aeration adjustment lever.

2. Adjust the aeration lever as required. Depending on

fuel bed used, altitude and other considerations, the

ﬂame picture may be improved by adjusting the

aeration. The need for adjustment should be

determined only by operating the appliance with the

fuel bed, liners and window installed and evaluating

the ﬂame picture after a 15-minute warm-up.

Fit the Speciﬁcations Label

1. Complete the required details of the new label:

“This appliance was converted on... by...” etc.

2. Fit the conversion label with new speciﬁcations over

the corresponding speciﬁcations on the data plate

attached to the ﬁreplace at right hand side between

the ﬁrebox and the outer case of the appliance.

3. Complete the ﬁreplace installation.

À propos de la conversion

La conversion d’un gaz à l’autre peut être faite avant

ou après l’installation de l’appareil dans la cavité.

Cependant, si l’appareil a déjà été installé, il devra être

sorti de la cavité (voir ci-dessous). De plus, le gaz doit

être branché pour régler la pression d’admission.

Préparez l’appareil

1. Repérez le robinet d’arrêt et isolez la conduite de

gaz.

2. Enlevez la devanture, bordure et portes si installées.

3. Enlevez la fenêtre.

4. Si le foyer est déjà installé :

a. Enlevez le lit de combustion. Faites attention

car les pièces sont fragiles.

b. Enlevez les panneaux intérieurs.

c. Détachez l’appareil de sa plaque d’évent (2 vis

au-dessus de la caisse de l’appareil).

d. Tirez l’appareil hors de la cavité en enlevant la

plaque d’évent. Elle demeure raccordée aux

conduits dans la cheminée.

5. Enlevez le support de devanture/bordure gauche

(2 vis).

6. Enlevez la plaque d’accès sur le côté gauche de la

caisse (2 vis sur le côté, 3 à l’avant).

7. Dans la boîte de foyer, enlevez le couverce du

brûleur (2 vis à l’arrière).

plus de détails sur les étapes de cette section.

toutefois trop serrer. Orientez l’injecteur pour qu’il

soit aligné à la conduite de gaz.

7. Replacez le brûleur. La tige sur l’obturateur doit être

insérée dans la fente du support de liaison.

8. Rebranchez l’injecteur à la conduite de gaz. Serrez

l’écrou. Le brûleur peut être ajusté pour l’alignement

de l’injecteur à la conduite.

9. Fixez les supports du brûleur à la plaque (4 vis).

10. Butoir d’obturateur, si installé.

Cette pièce n’est plus nécessaire. Enlevez le butoir

et jetez-le. Réutilisez les 2 vis du butoir pour bou-

cher les trous de vis de la plaque.

Remplacez l’injecteur du brûleur

1. Enlevez les vis retenant le brûleur à sa plaque (4 vis).

2. En soutenant l’injecteur coude, dévissez l’écrou

retenant la conduite de gaz pour la débrancher.

Sortez le rail du brûleur de la boîte de foyer avec

l’injecteur coude toujours en place.

3. Dévissez et enlevez l’injecteur coude du brûleur en

faisant attention de ne pas échapper les qua-

tre petites pièces situées entre l’injecteur et le

brûleur.

4. Remplacez l’injecteur par celui fourni avec la trousse

de conversion : assurez-vous d’avoir le bon injecteur

avant de l’installer, son numéro est gravé dessus—

consultez le tableau Spéciﬁcations à la page 7.

5. Remplacez l’obturateur d’air avec celui fourni avec la

trousse car il est diﬀérent selon le gaz utilisé.

6. Réassemblez toutes les pièces au brûleur en vissant

l’injecteur dans l’ordre indiqué ci-dessous. Vissez

l’injecteur au brûleur aussi serré que possible sans

Vériﬁez le mouvement de l’obturateur

Repérez le levier de l’obturateur à gauche de la plaque

du brûleur sous le récepteur. Poussez et tirez le levier

pour vous assurer qu’il bouge librement.

Remplacez l’injecteur de veilleuse

1. Enlevez l’écran de la veilleuse (2 vis).

2. Écartez légèrement l’attache en U puis tirez vers le

haut sur le capuchon de la veilleuse pour l’enlever.

3. Enlevez l’injecteur de la veilleuse avec une clé Allen

et jetez-le.

4. Remplacez-le avec l’injecteur approprié—voir le

tableau Spéciﬁcations à la page 7. Installez le nouvel

injecteur et serrez-le.
