Make sure that
the
minimum clearances to
combustible materialsare maintainedduring
installationincluding adequate space for
the
proper operationand servicingof the heater.
The minimum clearances from the heater to
combustible materialsare shown in

7.
The combustionair opening belowthe apron
andtheairintakeslots
at
thesidesofthecase
rear must not
be
obstructed.
FLOOR
Donotplacethe heateroncarpeting, vinyl or
othersoftsurfacedfloorcoverings.Installonly
on hardsurfacedmaterials.
It is recommended for aesthetic considera-
tions and ease of maintenance that the
heater is installed on a hearth finished
with
brick, ceramic tile, marble etc. Raising the
hearthslightly
will
helpto minimise dust and
lint accumulation under the unit. The
recommended minimum hearth size is
32"
wide
x
12"deep.
If however, the heater is installeddirectly on
flooring
of
combustible material other than
wood, itmust
be
installedona metalor wood
panel extending the full width and depth of
the heater.

DRAFT
HOOD
Thisheaterhas adrafthoodbuiltintoitsback
anddraws its air from either side. Itmust not
bealteredor obstructed.Thedrafthoodmust
beinthesameatmosphericpressurezone
as
the combustion air inlettothe heater.
1.4.
VENTING
This heater is
a
vented appliance and must
be connected to a chimney or flue in
accordancewiththenationalandlocalcodes.
Foraddedsafety, thisheaterisequippedwith
a vent sensor system which
will
react to
incorrect venting by shutting down the gas
supply. Thethermallyactivatedsensorswitch
islocatedwithinthedrafthoodtodetecteither
ablockedor disconnectedvent. Certainback-
draft conditionsmay also activatethe switch.

POSSIBLEINSTALLATIONS
This appliance canbe installed:

As a retrofit
a) To an existing masonry fireplace
and chimney.
b) To an existing factory built zero
clearance type fireplace with a
factory builtchimney.
Thefireplacemustbebuiltinaccordance
with
the national, state, provincial or territorial
building code recognised by the authority
havingjurisdiction, or inthe absenceof such
acode,inaccordancewith
the
NationalBuilding
Code
of
Canadaor the National Fire Protec-
tionAssociationcode inthe
U.S.A
Any fluedampermust
be
remwedorblocked
open.
Thechimneymust
be
sweptandbothchimney
andfireplace checkedfor soundness before
installationof the heater.
If local codes dictate or
if
condensation isa
problem, a flue liner must beinstalled. Usea
flue liner that is approved by the enforcing
